PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE:Employer
Position
Standard Bank SA
Technical Deployment Manager (Contractor) Completed Projects:
MainView Health
A health check / Technical assessment was conducted between Gijima and Standard Bank Technical teams to determine at what level the installed / configured licensed BMC MainView products are being utilized. The main objective of this initiative is to implement a Service Improvement plan to enhance the usage and benefits where the MainView Health check identified short comings. This entails retraining of Standard Bank Technical staff, knowledge transfer and customisation of the licensed tools to accommodate the specific requirements of the various Standard Bank Technical teams.
GTI River Club DR Data Centre (RDC) Facilities Upgrade
1. Security upgrades
The monitoring of the River Club Data Centre (RDC) Computer Rooms via CCTV is inadequate and poses a security risk. Installing additional surveillance cameras, will supplement the existing processes relating to physical access, change control and electronic access. CCTV will provide for continuous monitoring and will address the potential tampering with equipment and / or illegal entry into the DC.
2. RDC Office upgrades - Staff growth and - RCC Air-condition Unit 9 in RC2 Electrical
Parking for SBSA staff at RDC is inadequate and no alternative offsite parking is available in close proximity. An additional 20+ parking bays can be created with limited effort and resources. The staff facilities in the office block (gym cloak rooms, security kitchenette, and cleaning staff change rooms) are dated and require upgrading The exterior of the office block also needs to be repainted. All bathrooms are to be removed from the DC as this is poses a flooding risk.
Chillers are a critical component of the DC’s cooling system, but are energy intensive. A chiller control unit is proposed to manage the load conditions which will result in improved energy efficiencies in the DC. The current management control unit on the cooling
Towers are a single point of failure and a backup unit is required. 3. City Power - Khanyisa additional capacity
The switch gear needs to be replaced to raise the safety, reliability and performance standards in the River Club Data Centre. This will also minimise downtime and improve the reliability of the RDC power.Distribution board (DB) monitoring is required to automatically detect and diagnose faults in energy-consuming equipment or in building components that directly affect energy usage. With DB board monitoring equipment in place, measurements can help detect and diagnose excessive whole-building energy usage and component-level faults. Integration of DB monitoring into the BMS will provide detailed
information to compile MIS.
4. RDC Security Upgrade finalization - RCCC/SBC BMS Upgrade
The following has been identified as work to be included in the scope for the RCCC/SBC BMS initiative:
HA / DR setup – server’s installation and configuration – (JB controls)
DB board monitoring on the BMS Chiller Drive backups integration on the BMS Chiller Controls integration on the BMS
5. RDC Civil works - RC Dispatch Kit Out
The dispatch area needs to be upgraded to allow for more efficient deliveries in the River Club Dispatch designated area i.e.
Storage Cage to be build Tailgate for Dispatch area to be erect
ESB Remediation (Enterprise Service Bus)
The purpose of the ESB Remediation project will be to architect and build the deployment environments required by Standard Bank to cater for the successful implementation of ESB infrastructure requirements to meet the Platinum class of service. The solution will be required to cater for the following environments on AIX infrastructure:
• Development (DEV) Environment;• Development2 (DEV2) Environment;• System Integration Testing (SIT) Environment;
• Production Simulation (ProdSim) Environment;• Production Environment;• DR Environment.
1. Reconfigure ACE to provide Active-Active cluster in production, DR and UAT; 2. Reconfigure Data Power devices into an Active-Active configuration in production, DR and UAT;3.a. Rebuild Message Broker AIX hosts into a multi instance configuration (provide a shared file system using GPFS); b. Upgrade all AIX hosts from AIX 5.3 to AIX 6.1; c. Migrate all AIX LPARs from P5 pSeries servers to pSeries servers within support lifecycle; d. Implement asynchronous storage level replication of AIX hosts between production and DR to ensure hosts are in synch with production, remove human intervention in maintaining DR synchronisation; e. Reconfigure message flow to remove the CISCO ACE from inter-process/service communication, the ACE is to only provide network level Load Balancing within the ESB; f. Upgrade IBM Message Broker from version 6.1 to version 7.0
i. Implement IBM Message Broker multi instance
configuration to achieve high availability; ii. Upgrade IBM MQ from version 6.0 to version 7.0 iii. Implement IBM MQ Cluster to achieve required high availability;g. Complete an end-to-end Disaster Recovery test of the
newly deployed topology; It will be necessary to conduct regression testing when the above changes are made, given the number of consumer and provider services to the ESB, regression testing is an intensive piece of work it is preferable to keep the number of sets of regression tests to a minimum.
TPA (Transaction Process Architecture)
The SBSA production environment is, today, a mix of SAP and legacy applications accessing DB2 databases on the mainframe. During the past few months it has become apparent that the current architecture would be unable to scale sufficiently to meet the volume and throughput requirements for the medium (2012) and long term (2015).SBSA commissioned a set of tests in the IBM Labs in Montpellier to set various scenarios using IBM recommended architecture with the mainframe and zBX. The results of the test were favourable and a decision to
Implement the zBX within the bank has been taken.Following on from the SAP benchmarking that was done in Montpellier, the TPA programme are now looking to build a SIT and Production Simulation environment using the Mainframe.
Infrastructure Integration changes: Upgrade Broker software to version 7. Install 10Gb network from database through ESB
towards consumer (RDC) ACE on entry only (DataPower for ESB internal load
balancing) AIX operating system software upgrade to version
6.1. Migrate all SAP databases onto IBM model 8700 disk. Deploy new Broker instances on zOS. Purchase and install zBX racks (2 x Prod, 1 x DR, non-
Prod) Purchase and install DataPower X150z cards (4 x
Prod, 2 x DR, non-Prod) Generate trace message ID for mainframe service
consumers. Migrate Account and Statement services from ESC to
ESB.

Standard Bank SAN Data Migration from IBM DS 4300 / DS4800 to IBM Storwize V7000 and decommissioning of DS4300 and DS4800 Storage
The major aim of this project is to not disruptively migrate all AIX and VMware data from the DS4800Storage to the new Storwize V7000 systems for both the DR and Production environments.
Scope of work
1. To install and configure the new Storwize v7000 systems in production and DR site2. To create the required storage pools for AIX and VMware data3. To create the required volumes on these storage pools and map the volumes to the hosts4. To migrate all AIX and VMware data from the DS4800 volumes to the Storwize V7000 volumeswhile ensuring that the existing data structures from volumes, volume groups and file systemsRemain intact after the migration.5. To configure remote mirroring for VMware volumes between the production Storwize V7000.
