Assessment Requirements

All students are required to take and pass the Georgia High School Writing Test in order to receive a diploma in Georgia. Juniors will take this test for the first time in September, 2014. Students will have five opportunities to pass this test before their graduation date.

New HOPE Rigor Requirements• For the Class of 2017, students must meet

additional requirements to be eligible to receive the HOPE Scholarship.

• Students not only must have a 3.0 GPA in core courses, they must also complete the new rigor requirement. This requirement is that students must take and pass four rigor courses.

• Rigor courses offered at SEHS are marked by an asterisk on the registration form, and they are also included on the back of the handout.

Planning Ahead – Work-Based Learning

• This program is for students 16 years or older. • This program allows students to receive high

school credit while developing skills in the workplace.

• Students do not have to have employment prior to entering this program; however, the student should have a job in his/her program concentration area to participate.

• Students in this program must have a driver’s license, student parking permit, and have personal transportation to participate in this program.

Planning Ahead - Dual Enrollment

Sophomore Checklist!!• Meet with your school counselor to discuss

your education (pathway options, college admission exams, etc.)

• Learn about dual enrollment options for earning and funding college credit while still in high school.

• All sophomores will take the PSAT in October.

• Start exploring colleges to see what their requirements are for college admission.
