7 A candidate shall be eligible for admission to the programme of study leading to the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil), hereinafter called the programme, if he/she had taken Masters degree of the University with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST or differently abled categories) or a degree recognized by the University for this purpose as its equivalent. Provided, however, that the cases of students who have passed examination outside the Indian Universities system and who may not have obtained a Masters degree may be considered for admission to the programme subject to the condition that each case shall be examined on its own merit by the Admissions Committee and in accordance with the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee. Candidates who have cleared NET/JRF/SLET/Teacher Fellowship shall be exempted from the written test. In such cases the interview shall carry 100% weightage.

The University may not offer the programme if adequate support is not possible for certain areas and subjects. The decision of the University is final in this regard.

UGC-NET qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance test.
