Construction almost complete for new Southern Maryland Autonomous Research and Technology (SMART) Building

This $86 million, 84,000-square foot academic and research facility, slated to open in October 2021, will be transformative for USMSM and for the broader Southern Maryland region.

• Whether arriving at the Innovation District or only passing by, the Innovation District should be easily recognizable.

• To reinforce the identity, promote branding and advertising, and improve navigation, a comprehensive signage and wayfinding strategy should be developed for the Innovation District.
