At Crystal Basin, we’ve got a veritable plethora of wine clubs! Translated to Modern Redneck - that means a Whole Sh%tload! There are so many, we wrote a jingle - you may have heard it!

Wine Clubs, CBC Wine Clubs What kinds of folks join CBC Wine Clubs? Big folks, little folks, folks who climb on rocks fat folks, skinny folks, even folks with chicken pox love wine clubs, CBC Wine Clubs, The Juice folks love to drink!

There is No Cost to join any of our wine clubs. Simply sign up and take wine home. Easy Peasy. Common features for all of the clubs are discounts off all gift items, best pricing on ticketed events and free shipping if you take double shipments and live out of our area. Yes, ya gotta hang in there for three releases please. That’s all we ask!

So let’s recap the clubs and the special features of each of these cool manners of participation. Ready?

The Renegade Wine Club

The Original! This club features 3 bottles 4 times a year. The quarterly cost is always $60. Releases always feature red wines from our Renegade Series. If you don’t LOVE the wines offered - pick the ones you do love and take ‘em home homey. Sometimes we’ll run a club shipment in the summer featuring our Gold Medal winning wines so the clubbers get them.

The Ascendance Wine Club

These is the High End juice club! Features 2 bottles 3 times each year. The quarterly cost is always $60. We take the various base wines we make from specific El Dorado grapes and concoct blends modeled after the best wines in the world. Most of the time, we actually get there! This club is the best bet if you just want a 1/2 case of wine a year and don’t want us too deep in your pocket!

The Redneck Whites Club

Some folks just like white wines. That is a fact of life and the way we deal with it is to host this club. For $40, you get to pick your favorite 3 white wines three times each year. With the recent additions of our Rose program (OK - kind of a white wine) and our new Viognier, this club has some great choices for the right folks.

Sweeties Club

For those with a Sweet Tooth, we’ve got a club that releases two bottles of our Sweet Red wines and a bottle of Bubbly three times each year. The cost is $50 per shipment. You can mix/match the sweet wines you want to take home.

BadaBoom Bistro Club

This is a hybrid club for wine and food aficionados. You know who

you are! Club Releases are $30 three times each year for 2 bottles of Bistro wines - one red and one white. Best of all - membership includes two invites to EACH of our 3 Menu Changeout Parties in the Bistro - Gratis! You can help us test-fly new menu items, make new friends and drink up like Shriners!

Creativity is in Play for this Wine Club Release! We are always proud to show off our Mourvedre, especially the great version we created in 2012. This wine won a medal at all four competitions we entered in into during 2015. Best thing about Mourvedre? It goes with almost anything you’d like to pair with it! The 2013 Petite Sirah is a club favorite and shows the best aspects of Petite Sirah from the Foothills perspective. There won’t be any Petite Sirah in 2014 because of the smoke damage from the King Fire in 2014 - so get the 2013 while it’s hot! Petit Verdot is a lesser-known Bordeaux varietal that is mostly used for blending. Wait until you taste and smell the intriguing cedary element of this fun wine. Remember you can always Double Down on your shipment , allowing you to double your club shipment and take home 3 more wines of your choice for an additional $50.

2012 Mourvedre - We source our Mourvedre grapes from three El Dorado vineyards. There are only 1,000 acres in the entire state and 115 tons produced in the Foothills. We make the most and it’s Killer! Mourvedre has always been one of our flagship wines. Velvety tannins and a long, smooth finish are complemented by a hint of white pepper. Great mouthfeel. This wine can compliment most meals or enhance a great conversation with a friend. Retail $27 Wine Club $21.60

2013 Petite Sirah - Crystal Basin’s 2013 Petite Sirah comes from a single vineyard located just below the Finnon Lake dam in Mosquito at a remote location across the American River Canyon from Placerville. Our Petite Sirah has an amazing two flavor element where the top layer of blueberry fruit is combined perfectly with a lower note of smooth tannins. This wine has the color and density to match any flavorful meat dish Foothill Juice at its best! Retail $27 Wine Club $21.60

2013 Petit Verdot - We love this grape as one of our ‘teaching wines’ that is almost never included on our tasting list. This Bordeaux grape variety is rarely produced on its own - it can be too tannic and strong for most folks! But, our source from the Georgetown region of El Dorado County is cool enough to create a fine wine with cedary notes (think pencil shavings) and is distinctive enough to stand up against a cigar. We often call it our “Cigar Wine”. Try it, You’ll Like it!.

special dinner events during the Wine-terWe’ve been using the winery and Bistro for some great evening dinner events this winter. We hosted an excellent dinner in December featuring great food and wine pairings from our own Chef Lisa. We hosted a Beermaker’s Dinner in January with beers from American River Brewing paired with 5 courses of yummy Bistro food. Late in January, we’re doing our soon-to-be-famous Crab and Cab event with an old-fashioned crab feed accompanied by a bottle of our 2012 Cab for each attendee.

In February and March, we’re going to do Vertical Pairings with some of our remaining Library Wines. Hungry? Stay tuned to those pesky emails we’re always sending you for more event details!

CBC not Participating in Passport Weekends in 2016!

We looked at it a zillion ways. It doesn’t make sense for us to be in the Passport swirl this year. We’d rather host our Club Members and regular customers. We love our regular customers and Passport tends to chase them away. Our ‘real’ customers don’t race from place to place to eat like locusts and do not see themselves as entitled to complain about an endless line-up of ‘free stuff’. So we’re saving those weekends for y’all instead of playing “Who Wants a $100 Case of Iffy Wine?” with the masses.
