CRUELTY TO ANIMALS

Cruelty to animals is a major concern that is sometimes not given the importance it deserves.

Examples of the fight against cruelty to animals are the organizations “ALMA” and “ACTYMA”

 There are people who make animal abuse into a lucrative business. Meaning that it produces gain or profit.Example: The wool.

Gain or profit: Ganancia o provecho.Lucrative business: Negocio lucrativo.

USES: Wool is widely used for its elasticity and length. For wool, sheep are shorn (hair is cut) once a year. They lie down and are shaved close to the skin with mechanical shears or scissors. More than a billion animals are exploited for their wool.

-Shorn: esquilada.-Lie down : tumbarse.

Even, The most common victims are dogs.There are 1880 cases reported by the media in 2007, 64.5% were dogs of which 25% belong to the race pitbull, 18% cats and 25% of other animals.

The total of the perpetrators are men and 80% of the "worst torturers" belongs to high socioeconomic class, and those who usually try to help these injured animals are predominantly poor people.

-Worst torturers: Peores torturadores.-Injured: Heridos.

Moreover in most countries the animals are protected.
