ABUSE
Homeless – Spay/Neuter
There are 4-6 Million animals in the US in need of homes
There are many health benefits to spaying and neutering your dogs, cats…and rabbits! Spaying a female cat or dog helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer. Neutering your male dog or cat prevents testicular cancer, if done before six months of age.
Homeless – Natural Disasters
Over the past decade, about 258 million people have been affected by natural disasters worldwide every year.
Floods account for about 46% of disaster-related deaths in the Americas.
Animal Testing
The animals that scientists do have to report using in experiments include dogs, cats, sheep, hamsters, guinea pigs, and primates. Of the animals that the USDA collects numbers on, 1,438,553 were used in research in 2002.
Endangered Species
Worldwide, there are about 500 animals listed as endangered and 440 listed as threatened.
Animals at risk of extinction are protected by the Endangered Species Act which states that when a species is endangered, it is illegal to kill, harm, or take the species out of its habitat.
Endangered…
Puppy Mills
The average puppy mill has between 65 and 75 animals housed in hutch-style cages with wire floors. The waste drops to the ground below and accumulates beneath the cage where flies and other gross things fester.
