STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRESSION
5.1 Student Mentoring and Support
5.1.1 Does the university have a system for student support and mentoring? If
yes, what are its structural and functional characteristics?
Yes, the University has a well-developed system of support and mentoring
for the students on the campus. The University has instituted various
schemes for the welfare of the students. These schemes are undertaken by
the Dean, Students Welfare.
The University also has Women Protection cell to council’s female
candidates. Facility of bus and railway passes is arranged for the students
daily commuting from the villages around.
University is also having Tutor Guardian System in which approx 30
students are allotted to each Teacher, who monitors student’s attendance,
academic & co- curricular performance of the student and apprises the
same to the parents too.
University is also having a proctor board, which will ensure discipline and
proper conduct of students.
Several scholarships are awarded to the needy and deserving students
under different schemes.
5.1.2 Apart from classroom interaction, what are the provisions available for
academic mentoring?

The University has implemented the Tutor Guardian Scheme by which the
students are monitored at a closer level. As per this scheme, about 15
students are assigned to a faculty member (called as the Guardian). The
faculty member monitors the academic progress of the assigned
students.The faculty member provides guidance and counseling, not only
in academic matters but also on any other issues. The Tutor Guardian calls
for a meeting of the students during assigned hours or at the mutual
convenience of the faculty member and students. The Tutor Guardian can
have meetings with the parents, if needed.
Senior Resident Advisors (SRAs) are available in Hostels for every wing.
Students interact with SRAs, Wardens, Joint Chief Wardens and Chief
Wardens for Academic Mentoring.
The following are some of areas in which the Tutor Guardian assiststhe students:
• Giving information concerning career opportunities and availability
of educational / instructional resources;
• Helping students to cope with any difficulties in learning;
• Solving personal problems, if any
• Providing help to improve interpersonal relationships
• Serving as a bridge between parents and the teachers.
Equal emphasis is given in establishing ambience in the environment by
bringing in professionalism and transparency in our work and forever
moving towards growth and development in all respects. Thus we put
students under rigorous work of classroomlearning as well as field
learning through classroom presentations, operation workouts & live
projects, workshops and reading seminars, Cue cards, FAQs, Guest
Lectures, Management games and business quizzes, Role Plays with the
objective to provide students a platform to develop their communication

and presentation skills and learn the applicability of the course under in
the real world.
Time and again Open house meeting have been also organized by
University for teacher parent direction interaction.
5.1.3 Does the university have any personal enhancement and development
schemes such as career counseling, soft skill development, career-path-
identification, and orientation to well-being for its students? Give details
of such schemes.
Yes, as the University prime objective is to nurture student’s skills
according to today’s requirement University has various such schemes
wherein the students get opportunities for personal enhancement and
growth.
University has established a Corporate Training School which has the
specific task to

Separate soft skills sessions are also conducted for the students.
Certain domain skill trainings also provided to the students as and
when required.
The cell organizes special lectures and workshops relating to soft
skills and personality development.
It also makes arrangement for preparing the students for job market
by making them learn employability skills.
Apart from the above the Training and Placement Cell provides guidance
and counseling facilities to the students. In order to accelerate the process
of building up the academic and professional ambience the departmental
heads appoints facilitators for value addition activities. A facilitator

supervises, and control the conduct of the value addition activity
scheduled on a particular day. The Coordinator (Value addition) and
Program coordinator shall prepare a class-wise schedule of reading
seminars and case discussions, which the facilitator shall supervise and
coordinate. A report of each reading seminar and case / discussion has to
be submitted every day in the prescribed format.

conducted for students which are also part of student curriculum:
5.1.4 Does the university provide assistance to students for obtaining
educational loans from banks and other financial institutions?
SGVU has a tie up with AXIS BANK, CORPORATION BANK
ORIENTAL BANK OF COMMARCE for the students to get an
education loan for various programs conducted by the university. The
students can avail the facility of education loan subject to fulfillment of
Bank norms/Terms & conditions.

Yes, the university publishes its Information Brochure with annual
updations. It contains all the information that one may need for
admission to any course in the university. The Brochure contains general
information about the university, courses offered, department-wise
teaching faculty, admission schedule, procedure for submission of
applications, pattern of entrance examination, admission procedure,
eligibility criteria, fee structure, student conduct and discipline rules.
Information about the university library, scholarships, community forum
activities, and hostel and other facilities are also given in the Information
Brochure. Its availability on the university website further enhances the
dissemination of information to the students and other stakeholder.

Yes, the University provides financial aid and scholarships to students
under different schemes. These include national merit scholarships,
university merit scholarships, state/central government merit
scholarships. Besides, there are specific scholarships for the students of
scheduled castes and backward classes as per state government policy.

Further the University has set aside through educational loan facilities
like college fees, Hostel fees, Laptop, and also for Books and stationary
which is for PG general dual degree programme. Suresh GyanVihar
University support students in availing scholarships from the following
sources as well as on the University level to:
Post-Metric Scholarship Scheme: Scholarships to students belonging to
SC, ST, OBC, SBC, Minority and Physically Disabled Category are
provided through Social Welfare Department of Rajasthan and other
states.
Teachers Welfare Fund Trust: Teachers Welfare Fund scholarship up to
Rs. 300/- per month is granted by Board of Secondary Education
Rajasthan, Ajmer to wards of teachers who are pursuing Technical,
Medical or Professional Courses.
Vidya – Varidi Scholarship Scheme: Technical Education Department of
Government of Rajasthan provides scholarship to student studying in
B.E./MBA/MCA courses in the Technical Institutions of State.
Indian Oil and NTPC Scholarship Scheme: Indian Oil Corporation and
NTPC limited provide scholarship to students pursuing Engineering and
MBA courses on zonal merit basis and family’s income.

5.1.10 What types of support services are available for
(a) Overseas students
The overseas Student’s Cell looks after the needs of these students
under the guidance of Dean – Student Welfare. Further Overseas
students are given special attention and support in adjusting to the
new environment. This is being done by the mentors of concerned
department.
The following support services are available in SGVU for Overseas
students
(i) Hostel with international menu and dining facilities
(ii) Transport facilities for official visits to local area etc;
(iii) Special medical care is provided
(iv) Registration of Visa at the time of arrival
(v) Visa extension if required for academic purpose
(vi) No Objection Certificate at the time of leaving India after
completion of course.
(b) Physically challenged / differently-abled students
Physically challenged / differently-abled students do not lack
capabilities. A little support may go a long way to boost their
efforts and actualize their hidden
Potentials. The university takes care of the welfare of these
students and provides all facilities to them as per central and state
Govt. schemes. In addition
(i) Ramps are being provided in all academic buildings so as to
facilitate their movement.
(ii) Provision of writers during the examinations in case of blind
candidate.
(iii) Braile Books facility in Library.
(iv) The boarding and lodging facilities are made as per the

requirement of the student especially they have been
accommodated in the ground floor and facilitated to serve
food in their rooms by the mess staff if required. (optional).
(v) Transport facilities are provided for the students in the
university campus.
(vi) High priority is given to them for the institutional
scholarships Lifts are provided in all new buildings for
enabling them to reach higher floors easily.
(c) SC/ST, OBC and economically weaker sections
The university provides special facilities to students belonging to
weaker sections (SC/ST and BC) of the society.
(i) The above category students are facilitated to avail
scholarships and financial assistance from government (Sta te &
Central) and also from various Private Sector establishments.
(ii) Loan scholarships are provided for the students who are
economically backward.
(d) Students participating in various competitions/conferences in
India and abroad
The Dean Student Welfare Office looks after the participation of
students in different competitions. It provides financial assistance
and arranges for concessional tickets for their journey. Besides, the
teachers and Heads of the Departments also help students of their
respective departments to participate in competitions, seminars and
conferences. The Vice-Chancellor always encourages such
activities and readily provides financial assistance to such students
on the recommendations of the departments.
(e) Health centre, health insurance etc.

The university has its own Heath Center in the campus with the
following facilities:
(i). A competent Medical practitional (Dr. R.K. Agrawal) is
available in the University Clinic in the evening hours from 5
P.M. till required.
(ii). All outdoor facilities including First Aid are available. Most
of the medicines are provided free of cost to needy students
and staff.
(iii). In case of emergency students are provided University
Vehicle/ Ambulance and referred to nearest Hospital
preferably Government Hospital.
(iv). On an average 10 students including staff members avail the
medical facilities daily.
(f) Skill development (spoken English, computer literacy, etc.)
The University constituted coronus club to improve soft skills of
the students. The coronus club and Training &Placement Cell of
university, provides 3-tier training program to the students to learn
and enhance their skills by participating in
The various courses and seminars, workshops/ training
programmes organized regularly by the concerned departments. In
addition, soft skill course has been included in the syllabus and
required credit has been allotted, individual departments also
arrange holding of special/extra classes for the needy students.
Further following activities has been added with two objectives:
one, the students need to relax from the monotonous teaching
schedules; Second, there are many such topics /activities which
cannot be covered through the teaching of a particular subject. It is
suggested to conduct following Value addition activities. Group
Discussions: on current topics/business theme, Management
games: to reinforce management ideas/ concepts, Business
simulations: to develop their creativity, Role playing exercise: to

understand the roles more closely, Cue cards: to improve
communication skills , Business Quizzes: to broaden their horizons
,Guest Lectures: to create an interface with the industry, Current
News Awareness: to develop their awareness of the outside world,
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): to check their subject
knowledge
(g) Performance enhancement for slow learners
At the commencement of session, we conduct Knowledge Skill
Assessment Test to indentify the academic competence of
individual students. After KSA students have been divided into
three groups “Slow learners, Medium Learners and Advance
Learners” and faculties modify teaching methods according to the
understanding of students. Special classes “Level 1” are also held
for slow learners. Interactions with specific group of students are
held to bridge the gap.
(h) Exposure of students to other institutions of higher learning/
corporate/business houses, etc.
The university has also set up an Industry – Interaction Cell and
Entrepreneurship Development Cell to offer necessary guidance to
those aspiring to start their own business ventures and to expose
the students to corporate/business houses. The concerned
departments also arrange operations workouts, industrial visits,
educational tours/trips, HR conclave and Entrepreneurship summit
whereby the students are taken to various places of historical
importance including institutions of higher learning. Such activities
has been recognized by as an effective tool for collaborative
learning and for meeting the learning needs of the students as well

University further departments have also started their wall
magazines wherein the students can publish and display their
creative writings. The Department of Management brings out
special newsletters at the time of mega events hosted by the
University.
The newsletters like HR Newsletter and MARL (Marketing) are
edited and published by the students with the help of faculty
members.

for students appearing for Civil Services, Defense Services, NET/SET
and any other competitive examinations? If yes, what is the outcome?
Yes, University has career guidance cell, with the objective to provide
regular guidance to the students who want to appear in various
competitive exams. This cell also conducts special classes for the same
under the guidance of Dean, ISBM and Principal Pharmacy.

The university gives lot of support and encouragement to the students who
prove their potential for merit in sports. It provides an array of incentives

for participation and excellence in sports. University organizes “Bellicose”
and “Eklavya” event exclusively dedicated to sports. To Students who win
national and international sports championships are honored by the
university at a special function organized annually. The university
provides free coaching in different games and sports. They are given
attendance for the period of their participation in tournaments. University
bears all the expenses incurred on travelling and provides dea rness
allowance to participating sportspersons during coaching and tournament
days. Players of different sports are given good quality playing kits,
standard equipments, and track suits.
Special dietary requirements, sports uniform and materials .
A separate head in the department budget is allotted for nutrition and diet,
during tournament practice session’s special diet is provided for the
participants. Two sets of sports kit are provided in an academic year to all
the team members of various games. (One set at the beginning of the
academic year and one set for all India Inter University Tournaments).
5.1.13 Does the university have an institutionalized mechanism for students’
placement? What are the services provided to help students identify job
opportunities, prepare them for interview, and develop
entrepreneurship skills?
The objectives of Training &Placement’ (TP Cell) are as follows:-
To place all passing-out students through campus & off-campus
interviews conducted by
meritorious companies and to provide dignified placements regionally,
nationally and internationally.
Aim of the University is to prepare the students for acquiring knowledge
and skills to compete in the job market and get placements in reputed

The work of training and placement is integral to any professional
program. Therefore it has to be initiated from the day a student takes
admission in the institute. The university has a Training and Placement
Cell (T and P Cell) for depiction the required help. Besides, there is
Training and Placement Officer (TPO), appointed for individual
department specifically to facilitate placement of the students, renders
counseling services to them. Apart from this every department has
placement committees which look after the placement and counseling
needs of the students, facilitates dissemination of the career-related
information and identifies the specific placement needs of the students
of each department, visit to the reputed companies for Campus

guest lecture’s from industry for skill refining and development.

Yes, The Alumni association has its services strengthened and
channelized. The alumni gave well thought out suggestions for the
improvement of the Institution in alumni association meetings. Regular

5.1.16 Does the university have a student grievance redressal cell? Give

Yes, University has different grievance redressal cell to resolve
departmental issues and Single –Window as a student help line to solve
centralized issue.
Apart from this the University has installed suggestion/complaint boxes
in the campus for the redressal of common grievances and to give
suggestions. Moreover, Departmental Committees have been constituted
in all the departments for the purpose. These committees take all day-to-
day decisions on specific and general issues and work as an effective
means for the redressal of grievances of the students.
Students approach the cell for their grievances regarding academic
matters, financial matters, health services, library, accommodation and
other central services etc. The cell sorts out the problems promptly and
judiciously and also redresses the grievances of the stakeholders as and

when required. As a result of this mechanism, the university has pleasant
ambient atmosphere and good work culture with in-built goodwill and
the understandings amongst all the stakeholders.
The President, Dean Student’s welfare, Dean of concern department,
Program coordinator and Proctorial Board also frequently interacts with
the students, to know their expectations and to get feedback for policy
formulation and decision making at the university level.

The Grievance Redressal committee shall use its best efforts to
informally work out a resolution of the issues involved with the parties
named in the grievance application. It shall be the endeavor of the
Grievance Redressal committee to ensure disposal of every application
within a period of one month of the receipt of application. No reprisal of
any kind will be made against any applicant, witness, or any other
participant in the grievance redressal process by reason of such
participation in the grievance process.
Meetings are conducted with the staff and students to address every issue
that needs attention. Suggestion boxes are placed at every hostel and
other important locations to help the students to express their grievances.
This box is opened every Friday and addressed the following week

depending upon the degree of urgency. Meetings of the Student
representatives are held at various locations / departments/ hostels to
address the issues arising now and then.

Yes, The University has special emphasis on the promotion of gender
sensitive environment at the campus. The Proctor board, women
protection cell, and constituted Departments of university organize
programmes such as women’s day to sensitize the students and the
faculty members on several gender sensitive issues.

Yes, SGVU has anti-ragging Committees.
SGVU takes very good care of first year students which has made the
campus
free from ragging. The preventive measures taken by SGVU are given
below:
• Students are always escorted by a team of faculty and security from
Hostels to Campus from morning till evening.

are not allowed to enter this hostel. A first year student can leave the
hostel only with his/her parent / guardian.
• Geographic location of Hostels facilitates First year students to enter
SGVU campus directly without facing the senior students

The list of stakeholders of the university include

A meeting is convened regularly to discuss the issues related to the
development of the university.
SGVU obtains regular feedback from students, parents, faculty
members, supporting staff, industries, employers, alumni, external
academic experts and members of local community and make
improvements in the teaching and learning system to ensure the overall
development of its students.
• Feedback is obtained from students on courses offered, courses
desired and on modifications of curriculum.
• Students make an appraisal of teacher support on a 10-point
questionnaire. Scores are averaged to a five-point scale and teachers
are given a feedback on all the expectations of students from any
teacher.
• Students feedback is also used as a yardstick for the assessment of the
performance of faculty.
• Former students participate in academic decision-making. Each Board
of Studies has an alumnus to offer counsel about syllabi revision in
the context of contemporary needs of students. Most of the alumni,
who participate in academic decision-making, hold high positions in
industry.

• Students share decision-making powers by being members and
conveners of several organizing committees. They carry suggestions
to decision-making bodies regarding academic and administrative
needs.

All the women students are encouraged to take part in sports activities
during the morning and evening hours to stay fit. SGVU appointed a
female physical Directress to take good care of female students and to
encourage them to take part in intra and inter- institutional sports. Further,
the Physical Education departments organizing the following events for
women students.
(a) Fresher’s Tournament:
This is being conducted exclusively for the Ist year students at the
beginning of every academic year in order to find out their sports talent
and make use of them for various sports/games.
(b) Staff-Students Combined Tournament:
In order to have a good relationship between Staff and Students
community this tournament is being conducted every year just a week
before Independence Day celebrations.
(c) Mini-Marathon:
To quench the thirst of long distance runners this race is organized during
the month of September every year. A separate event is arranged for
women. A huge number of women students are participating in this event.
(d) Inter-Department Tournaments:
This indeed help to have a good understanding among all the students
when they are given opportunity to play in a team which comprises of I

As this is impractical to monitor the progress of all departing students to
higher ladders of studies, yet as per records of the university hundred
percent students of the management studies opt for higher studies, Eight
percent undergraduates of hotel management, more than forty percent
engineering under-graduate classes opt for higher studies. About 45

5.2.2 What is the programme-wise completion rate during the time span
stipulated by the university?
As the information provided by the concerned departments data indicate
that the completion rate of the students of post-graduate courses is
around ninety one percent (91%) within the stipulated time and for Ph.D
(100%). For Master of Computer Science (MCA), it was 100 percent
whereas for Master of Business Administration (M.B.A), it was (99%).
Eighty eight percent (88%) of undergraduate students pursuing
engineering, hospitality courses complete their courses within the
stipulated time frame. Overall, the completion rate was over eighty three
percent (83%) for all the courses.

Yes, Students participate in various cultural and extracurricular and
recreational activities. The University hosts number of events for
upliftment of their potential. Students actively participate in various

trainer. Suresh Gyan Vihar University has on-campus facilities for a
variety of intramural sports and athletic activities like cricket, football,

5.3.2 Does the university conduct special drives / campaigns for students to
promote heritage consciousness?
Yes, University conducts special drives / campaigns for students to
promote heritage consciousness under the banner of community forum
activities on every Wednesday.The university also gives special attention
to heritage consciousness and preservation. University organizes various
events association with AkshayPatra, Spic-Macay the banner of RHYTH
club. With the same objective school of Management has started video
graphic documentation of various festivals and rituals in Rajasthan.
5.3.3 How does the university involve and encourage its students to publish
materials like catalogues, wall magazines, college magazine, and other
material? List the major publications/ materials brought out by the
students during the last four academic sessions.
University further departments have also started their wall magazines
wherein the students can publish and display their creative writings. The
Department of Management brings out special newsletters at the time of
mega events hosted by the University.
The newsletters like HR Newsletter and MARL (Marketing) are edited
and published by the students with the help of faculty members.

Student Council of toppers of every class is framed and regular
interactions with them are conducted to take feedback and student
suggestions too.

departmental level as well for inclusion of students in various academic
and administrative bodies to sharpen their managerial skills. These
