Kritsa is a village located in Lassithi and is built amphitheatricallyatthefootofthemountain Kastellos at an altitude of 365 meters. It is one ofthemosttraditionalvillagesofCreteanda typicalparadiseoflivelyfolklorewithanold architecturalphysiognomy.Kritsauntiltoday still keeps the traditional way of life like food, clothing & customs. . . , , - , , , , , , , "", , . , "" "" "". , , , , , , . "" - , , . . . "" " " " " ( )." ' ' ".A few days before wedding, the house of the new couple is getting cleaned and decorated for the case. Home furniture and utile and homemade bed cloths and table-cloths are placed around to be seen. Special care is given to the brides room and mainly to the bed, which is decorated with flowers and leaves from fruit plants, oranges, rice, and coins and upon which sweetbread is also put.The exhibition of all these on the couple's bed is one of theoldest ceremoniesai-ming at bringing youthful-ness to the couple. The wedding bread is also made with special care by young ladies who have both their parents in life and if married they have good first marri-age and children. The first carry bread, water, light fire and icon, then home cloths and light furniture.17.00Thegroomandthebridearegettingreadyintheirfamilyhomesunderthelocal wedding music and singing. Then they are accompanied to Agia Pelagia for the ceremony.18.00The groom and his company go to the bride's family home to pick her up.18.30The groom and bride leave the house and walk together to the church accompanied by traditional music.19.00The ceremony starts after the couple arrives. Rice and flowers are thrown on the couple while they are moving round ("katahismata" ancient wedding's custom). At the end everybody kisses the wreath and tastes honey and almond nuts.20.00The wedding procession, under music and singing and girls handing over sweet bread "gamokoulouro" to everybody on the street, heads to the new couple's home.
