RESCUE & EVACU-ATION

THE RESCUE EQUIPMENT IS IN PLACE For more than 15 years, we have supplied rescue andevacuation equipment to the wind power industry. During that period we have obtained great experience in the sa-fety challenges that are present inside and outside a turbi-ne. It is essential to keep the necessary equipment ready for use and the staff properly trained for handling differentemergency situations that can occur.

Among the problems in keeping the equipment fit for use when stored in a turbine are:

• Corrosion, because of condensed water caused by shifts in temperature (heat/cold)

• Wear on all parts due to vibration

04

Page 5: Cresto Wind Energy English

A SOLUTION BASED ON EXPERIENCE Based on annual tests and many years of experience, we have developed the patented vacuum packing solution. This solution guarantees that moisture and water from condensation cannot occur as there is no air in the bag, and that wear from vibrating components rubbing together is almost impossible because by vacuum packing the equipment the parts are prevented from moving against each other.

10 YEARS INSPECTION INTERVAL.As an extra benefit, our tests and experience shows that by vacuum packing the mean time between inspection is at least 10 years. Since vacuum packing is unique and patented, there is no comparable solu-tion on the market that can guarantee the same level of quality on the packed components.

The TwinStop sliding lock works in the same manner as the MonoStop model, even if the velocity increases, according to the following principle:

Position 1:The velocity activated locking wheel runs along the bottom of the rail. The brake block, con-nected to the locking wheel, is inside the housing.

Position 2:When the velocity activated lock-ing wheel runs over a hack the brake block depresses against thebottomoftherail.Oncethelocking wheel has passed the hack the brake block springs back into the housing.

Position 3:In the event of an unintentional high velocity fall the brake block will not have time to spring back into the housing, but fastens at the hack in the rail, arresting the fall. The spring activated locking mechanism simultaneously forces the brake block into the rail hacks as for the MonoStop.

Cresto TwinStop is supplied with a aluminium twistlock carabiner.

CRESTO'S VERTICAL RAIL AND LADDER SYSTEMOurverticalfallprotectionrailsaresuitableforinstallationin existing ladders everywhere in a fall risk environment. The easiest and safest way of climbingmasts and towers is when the sliding lock is connected to the rail.

If there's no ladder we offer a fall protection ladder where the rungs are integrated in the rail.

We have a range of fastenings and can customize the systems to meet your exact requirements. The rails can be angled so that the systems follow facade curvatures, or to allow the system to continue in a horizontal direction, for example, up on the roof. The fixing point distance is a maximum of 2.1 m. between the fixing points on the vertical rail and 1.0 m. on the horizontal rail. You can either perform the installation yourself using our installation guide, or let us do it for you.

The aluminium rails are manufactured in saltwater resistant extruded material and are anodised for the best possible corrosion protection. Alternatives to aluminium are either hot dip galvanised or stainless steel rails.

Also available as standard are:

• Step-outmodule,tobeableto egress the system at any point.

• Loweringmodule, forsafedescent into shafts and wells.

• Turnmodule, tosafelyreachtheroofor platform prior to releasing the sliding lock from the rail.

We'll be happy to suggest different installation solutions for your needs. Please contact us for further information!EN 795, EN 353-1

SOMEBODY HAS TO DO IT It’s easy to understand that working on offshore turbines holds many risks, and until now it has been

accepted to get on and off the TP (transition piece) without any safety.

DON´T RISK YOUR LIFE The dangers become very real in the transition between service vessel and TP. Going overboard, falling off the

ladder, or even being injured between the vessel and the TP, is only one step away. Don’t accept that anymore !
