Easter Hope and Joy We are a people who are changed by the dying and rising of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Paschal Mystery is reflected in the natural process of death to new life. We see this all around us and in our own lives.

For example, we experience dying and rising each year in the change of seasons. Jesus’ passion, death, resurrection, and ascension are the ultimate event of dying and rising, of death to new life. Jesus shows us that new life can come from death, that we can find meaning in difficult times of pain and suffering. Jesus’ suffering, death, and new life has forever changed us and given us a different way of living. Death no longer has the last word. Easter is a time of joy and new life as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and the gift of eternal life. This new life in Christ requires change in our lives and, while change is never easy, it opens the door to opportunity and growth. As we continue to undergo the changes of the On Mission for The Church Alive! Initiative, let us always have Christ our hope before us. He is for us the model of the new life that change can bring.
