What makes effective CPD?

How can we model good teacher as learner behaviour?

How can we make our development

collaborative and reflective?

How can we develop conversations about pedagogy?

How do we ensure we are focusing on the benefits for pupils and learning?

“The most effective CPD uses sustained, collaborative in-house processes supported by external expertise such as

courses, consultancy, resources or research who can give a different perspective or challenge group thinking”

“A network of experts for support and challenge”

“Significant collaboration over a sustained period of time”

“The best schools engage in a continual programme of research to locate best practice and arrange frequent

opportunities for all staff to view, explore, implement and evaluate ideas’

David Weston – 6 aspects of effective CPD

Challenges…! Creating something more

personalised and specific to Tallis

Giving staff ownership over their

CPD

Utilising the expertise we already have within the school

Making sure staff have the time to

commit to CPD without other distractions
