COURSE DESCRIPTION/OBJECTIVES

This course is aimed at highlighting the theoretical aspects of management and then translating these concepts into practical frameworks. Major focus would be on making students comprehend the functional areas, such as, planning, organizing, leading and controlling. In the changing business environment, managers must also consider factors such as cultural diversity, environmental changes, social responsiveness and ethical and moral obligations to lead their organizations successfully. This course will provide insights into such issues as well.

COURSE OUTCOMES

This course provides opportunity to develop and demonstrate ability in the following areas:A: Knowledge and understanding:

Written AssignmentsAll the written assignments should be according to the following prescribed format

on the front page.- Late assignment submission will result in deduction of marks.

Quizzes- Quizzes can be both, surprise and announced- Students can expect a quiz at the end of each chapter- There is no policy for a quiz retake

Final Project

The final project is designed in a way to enhance your understanding and learning. It will not only help you to apply your theoretical concepts but will also expose you to the current problems being faced by the corporate sector. You are encouraged to be as creative as possible. Innovation, hard work and dedicated research efforts will be rewarded.

Project Details- For their final project, students will interview a manager from the corporate sector. The

questions will be based on researched work related to any dimension of management that has been mentioned or taught in class.

- Various tools, such as, interviews, questionnaires, observation etc can be used. - Project handout will be submitted in class.- Project report should be submitted on time as mentioned in the class.- Late project submission will result in deduction of marks.
