Die Natur ist in Cortina Hauptdarsteller. Das Bühnenbild ist die zeitlose Traumlandschaft des Naturschutzparks, der sich zwischen den Tofane, dem Cristallo und der Croda Rossa erstreckt.

Aus unzähligen Quellen sprudelt kristallklares Wasser, fließt in Bäche, Flüsse und Seen, bildet hie und da grandiose Schluchten und imposante Wasserfälle.Einen Ausflug zu den Quellen des Flusses Boite sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Sie werden vom Foses-See zugeführt, verschwin-den im daruntergelegenen Karstgestein, bilden dort kluftige Höhlen und kommen dann als Quellwasser in Ciampo de Cros wieder zum Vorschein. Sehenswürdig sind auch die Quel-len des Ru Fiedo, die lebhaft empor sprudeln und in den darunterliegenden See fließen

CANYONS UND WASSERFÄLLE

Im Ampezzaner Naturschutzpark wurde kürzlich der einzigartige Wanderweg „Canyons und Wasserfälle“ fertiggestellt. Diese traumhaft schöne, vielseitige Strecke ermöglicht die Überquerung des Rio Fanes an den eindrucksvollsten Stellen, sowohl über, als auch „unter“ Wasser. Dank der Realisierung von kleinen Brücken, Leitern und Fixseilen ist es nun möglich, auf den Graten entlang tiefer Schluchten und direkt neben tobenden Wasserfällen zu wandern. Es gibt Streckenführungen unterschiedlicher Schwierigkeitsgrade, alle erforderlichen Informationen erhält man am Infopoint des Parks im Ortsteil Pian de Loa.

THE CANYONS AND WATERFALLS TRAIL

A brand new hiking itinerary, Canyons and Waterfalls, has recently been created in the Natural Park of the Ampezzo Dolomites. The route, unique in its natural beauty and variety, crosses the River Fanes at its most evocative, sometimes across bridges and

other times behind waterfalls. Thanks to the construction of small bridges, ladders and fixed ropes, it is possible to walk along the edge of deep canyons and foaming waterfalls. Excursions in this area can be adapted to individual requirements. Further information can be obtained at the Natural Park information point at Pian de Loa.

The Tofane are the most majestic mountaingroup that overlook the green Ampezzovalley. Rising to the west of Cortina withthree main peaks, all extending above3000m, they can be reached with theFreccia nel Cielo funicular, located near theOlympic stadium in the centre of Cortina.A large number of hiking trails of varyinglengths and difficulty can be found here,ranging from easy walks at low altitudeand trails for mountain biking, to routesof medium difficulty such as the tour ofCol Rosa. The area also offers some of theDolomites’ most scenic and challengingvie ferrate (equipped climbing routes), likethe Punta Anna which leads to the peakof the Tofana Di Mezzo, or the Lipellawhich reaches the top of the Tofana diRozes. Rock climbing enthusiasts will find afantastic maze of walls, a testimony to thehistory of mountaineering in the Dolomites.

From the center of Cortina a funicular with splendid views over the Ampezzo valley takes excursionists straight to Mount Faloria, starting point for many itineraries on foot and by bike. From here hikers can reach the magnificent Lake Sorapis, where emerald-coloured water surrounded by white sand, vertical rock walls and the slender formation of the Finger of God, create an unforgettable scenery. For climbing enthusiasts, the spectacular via fer-rata Ski 18 offers a pure rock experience. With its 3,221m the Cristallo is one of the most magnificent mountains in the Dolomites. Together with Pomagagnon it closes the Ampezzo valley to the north, forming a scenic backdrop with great visual impact. The area offers a number of hiking itineraries, ranging from easy strolls to more challenging climbing routes such as the Ivano Dibona and Marino Bianchi. The impressive Forcella Staunies (2,932m) can be reached by lift facilities.The Mietres area, characterized by gentle meadows and forests, is ideal for relaxing walks and bike rides.

Die majestätische Tofana-Gruppe mit ihren drei über 3.000m hohen Gipfeln rahmt im Westen das Ampezzo-Tal ein.Gleich neben dem Olympiastadion fährt die Bergbahn Freccia nel Cielo bis auf den höchsten Gipfels dieses Massivs, Cima Tofana, auf 3.244m. Die Tofane bieten unzählige Aufstiegsmöglichkeiten aller Schwierigkeitsgrade: einfache Wander- und Mountainbike-Routen, mittelschwere Touren wie die Rundwanderung Col Rosà mit Abstecher zu den Fanes-Wasserfällen oder zur Grotte der Tofana di Rozes, bis hin zu Klettersteigen wie Ferrata Punta Anna und Lipella. Ein Labyrinth fantastischer Steilwände, auf denen viele Kapitel der Geschichte des Bergsteigens geschrieben wurden.

This historical area offers a wealth of attractions; pristine nature, hiking and mountain biking trails, rock climbing, towering rocks and peaks tinged red with the characteristic enrosadira at sunset. The area hosts an extensive outdoor museum of the Great War with fascinating itineraries through trenches and tunnels.The characteristic rock formations of the 5 Torri, emblem of Cortina and a popular climbing area with 108 routes, are instantly recognizable from their particular shape, reminiscent of medieval towers. The peak of Nuvolao (2,575m) is popular for its breathtaking views of the most famous Dolomite peaks. The jagged crest of Croda da Lago contrasts with the views of the mighty rock mass surrounding it. Its name alludes to lake Federa which springs from its base, in which one can see the reflection of Becco di Mezzodi.

Zu seinen Füßen liegt der See ‘Lago Federa‘, auf seiner Oberfläche spiegelt sich der ‘Becco di Mezzodi‘, Cortinas Mittagsuhr.

Cortina Golf recently inaugurated its brand new facility, 9 holes set in a beautiful area near the historic Hotel Miramonti Majestic driving range, where players from around the world have practiced since the 1930s.

The nine-hole course, designed by Peter Harradine and Silvio Bernardi, is completely immersed in nature with breathtaking views of the Dolomite peaks. In fact each hole is named after the mountain facing it.

Playing on the new Ampezzan golf course offers not only a technical challenge, but also an opportunity to enjoy spectacular nature immersed in the embrace of the Dolomites, a territory where the characteristic alpine meadows are carefully preserved.

Das neue Golfareal ‘Cortina Golf’ wurde in der Nähe des Hotels Miramonti Majestic realisiert, wo schon in den 30er Jahren Spieler aus der ganzen Welt auf dem Tee zu Füßen des Cristallo gespielt haben.

Die von Peter Harradine und Silvio Bernardi entworfene 9-Loch Anlage liegt inmitten von Wiesen und Wäldern. Entlang des Golf-Parcours kann man die imposanten Gipfel bewundern, die Cortina einrahmen, deshalb wurde jedes Loch nach dem Berg benannt den man sieht, wenn man den Blick nach oben richtet.

Auf dem neuen Ampezzaner Golfplatz spielen bedeutet nicht nur, sich auf einem hohen technischen Niveau messen zu können, sondern auch, sich einer sinnlichen Begegnung mit den Dolomiten hinzugeben, während des Spiels in diese märchenhafte Naturkulisse zu versinken, in der alle Eigenschaften der hochalpinen Landschaft bewahrt wurden.

CULTUREAmong the permanent exhibitions, it is worth noting the museums of the Regole d’Ampezzo that can be visited at the Ra Ciasa de ra Regoles and at the new multi-purpose Alexander Girardi Hall.

The Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Arthouses a collection of about 800 importantworks. De Pisis, Sironi, de Chirico, Carrà,Guttuso and Morandi are among the artistsrepresented in the collection. Themedexhibitions are organized throughout the year. Landscapes is the theme for summer 2011.

The Rinaldo zardini Paleontological Museumexhibits one of the most significant collectionsof fossils that exists today, including shells ofmarine invertebrates, corals, sponges andfossils of many animals.

The Museums of the Great War is an openair cultural experience consisting of the fourmuseums of Lagazuoi, 5- Torri, Sasso di Stria andthe Museo del Forte Tre Sassi. The museums,which are a testimony to the First World War,extend in a radius of 5 km and offer severalspectacular routes of varying lengths.

In Cortina you really can touch the sky. The Niccolò Cusano Planetarium offers the opportunity to experience a journey through time and space. The movements of the planets, the sun, and the moon are simulated to demonstrate the sky in different time zones. The Astronomical Observatory at Col Drusciè at an altitude of 1,780 m. organizes guided visits and special tours on request.

Der Himmel ist in Cortina zum Greifen nah.Das Planetarium Niccolò Cusano ist ein kosmisches Kino, in dem man eine Zeitreise durch das Weltall erleben kann: es zeigt beliebige Ausschnitte des Himmels zum gewünschten Zeitpunkt, auf jeglichem Breiten- und Längengrad und veranschaulicht die beschleunigten Bewegungen aller Himmelskörper. Ein weiteres „kosmisches“ Erlebnis in 1.780 m Höhe ist der Besuch der Sternwarte auf Col Drusciè, wo man bei einer geführten Besichtigung Mond und Sterne aus allernächster Nähe beobachten kann.
