Correcting Tracings Given tracings and

an orthometry form you will prepare a “blueprint” to be used when fabricating the LSO

Page 3: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Correcting Tracings You will begin by

correcting the pelvic and thoracic bands

Page 4: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Correcting Tracings Both bands are

corrected the same way so begin with the pelvic band

Page 5: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Determining Band Lengths Locate the

circumference of the pelvis at the ASIS level on your orthometry form

Divide that number in half

Example: 35¸2=17 1/2 ¸

Page 6: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Determining Band Lengths If the original

circumference is 36” or under, add 1-1/2” to the result of the divided circumference to determine the corrected length of your band

Example:35”¸2 = 17 1/2”17 1/2” + 1 1/2”=19”

¸

Page 7: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Determining Band Lengths If the original

circumference is over 36”, add 2” to the result of the divided circumference to determine the corrected length of your band

Example:39”¸2=19 1/2”19 1/2” + 2”=21 1/2”

¸

Adjusting Band Tracing Divide the corrected

length in half Using a flexible tape

measure following the traced line, measure the resultant distance from the center line to both ends of the tracing and mark

Page 9: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Adjusting Band Tracing Connect those

marks with a straight line (transverse line)

Using a 90 triangle, draw a line perpendicular to the transverse line through the original center line

Page 10: Correcting Tracings for the Lumbo-Sacral A-P Control LSO.

Adjusting Band Tracing Hold a ruler at 90

degrees to the adjusted center line and slide it down the line until the 2” mark just touches the curved tracing on both sides

Mark the points at which the rule touches the tracing

Adjusting Band Tracing Draw a line across

the tracing at that position. 2” 2”

Adjusting Band Tracing Draw a line across

the tracing at that position

Your completed corrected tracing will appear similar to this

Repeat the same procedures for the other band

Adjusting Paraspinal Bar Tracing On the paraspinal

tracing the S marks the inferior angle of the scapula

Using a flexible tape as before, follow the curves and mark the distance between the inferior angle of the scapula and the sacro-coccyx junction as indicated on the orthometry form

Adjusting Paraspinal Bar Tracing

Place a ruler on the posterior side of the tracing

Move the ruler anteriorly until the edge touches the tracing at both the pelvic and thoracic band bend marks
