National Silver BallTournament

It’s time when the Canal Fulton Mules and the Pondfielders, Black Stockings and Fair Plays and other vintage nines gather at Genesee Country Museum for three days of ginger matches.

A dozen clubs representing the Museum’s vintage baseball league, plus squads from Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland and Canada will compete in a round-robin tournament.

Old-Time Fiddlers’Fair

GCV&M’s annual Gala enters it’s 15th year with 400 guests gathering to show their support for the nonprofit museum. The evening includes a cocktail reception and an elegant three-course dinner, as well as both a live and silent auction. This year’s Gala promises to be an extra special event where we celebrate the abundance and nostalgia of our local harvest at the peak of autumn color.

Gather the family, cook up your famous fruit preserves, make your shopping list and head to the fair — the highlight of the harvest season. Prize-winning sheep, oxen and cows will be on display, in addition to a poultry show, and a goat show and competition.

Journey back through time on a guided tour of the Historic Village to meet characters from the past as they celebrate Christmas. Enjoy an enchanted evening of holiday decorations, music and dance, gingerbread and roasted chestnuts. Finish off your tour with a relaxing dinner in our meeting center and shop for gifts in our Museum Shop. You’ll find yourself surrounded by the sights, sounds and scents of the season at an unhurried pace.

Maple Sugar Festival& Pancake Breakfast

As the daylight grows longer, the maple sap begins to run—a sign that spring is imminent. Villagers will demonstrate maple sugaring with a working 19th-Century sugar camp, tree tapping and a delicious pancake breakfast with maple syrup.

Stories, demonstrations and tastings of deliciously sweet maple syrup are part of this great program!

Live up happy hour with friends in the midst of our historic village! Sample local craft beers, wines, ciders and more, including the museum’s own Fat Ox and Intrepid Ales, while munching festival foods. Rock out to live covers of your favorite pop songs from the current Top 40 to the 90s. Explore the museum grounds after hours and enjoy special access to the Hyde “Octagon” House’s cupola.

The Celtic FaireSaturday, June 17

The Celts in Western New York played a major role in shaping the history of the Genesee Country. This special festival will celebrate the culture, history and traditions of the Scots and Irish through musical performances by regional pipe bands, dance demonstrations from local schools and an array of authentic food and drinks to satisfy your palate.

War of 1812 &Jane Austen Weekend

Eclipsed by the bloodshed of the Civil War, the “Forgotten” War of 1812 is revisited at Genesee Country Village & Museum.

The weekend will be devoted to activities that recall those days when the United States was young. The museum’s historic village will be populated by visiting War of 1812 re-enactors, who will offer insight into the impact of the conflict on the region.

But the event is not all about war. There will also be a special focus on Jane Austen and the Regency Era, exploring its fashions and fascinations.

Independence DayTuesday, July 4

Celebrate the 240th anniversary of our independent republic at this extravaganza. March in a festive parade and listen to a patriotic reading of the Declaration of Independence. Witness an inspirational swearing-in ceremony of new American citizens, or join in the fun of an all-American pie-eating contest! Hear the firing of cannons and savor a summer barbeque.

Civil War Re-Enactment& Encampment

More than 1,000 re-enactors transform GCV&M into a military camp from the time of the Civil War. This exhilarating reenactment will awe and inspire visitors with mock battles, soldier demonstrations, cannon firing, martial music, calvary troops and more.

Laura Ingalls WilderWeekend

Celebrate the stories of one of the most popular writers of 19th-Century frontier life with Laura Ingalls Wilder Days and learn more about Laura’s ties to Western New York. Commemorated through two television series and 10 novels, Laura Ingalls still captures the imagination of girls of every age.
