1. IMPORTANT - Definition and requirements 1.1 Cornerstone Offline Player (v3.0.3), what is it? The Cornerstone Offline Player is an extension of MLL that allows users to complete courses while disconnected from the Internet. While using the Offline Player, offline courses behave as though they are being used online; meaning that bookmarks are kept, progress is saved and most importantly, you are still learning! After an internet connection is established, users can synch their course information via the Offline Player to the company learning portal. Ensuring that employees gain the necessary training they need even while disconnected from the internet.

1.2 Hardware Requirements for Cornerstone Offline Player (v3.0.3) Operating System:

• Windows XP • Windows 7 • Windows Server 2003

*NOTE: Windows 8 is not currently supported*

• Microsoft .NET v4.0 or higher

*If .NET framework v4.0 is not installed, the offline player will install it prior to installing the Offline Player*

Some file type support is built into the Offline Player (i.e. .mp4, .wmv); however, file types with the .mov extension will only be supported if the user has QuickTime installed on their machine.

1.3 Offline Course Availability It is important to note that not all courses that are available online will be available offline. Only courses that have been offline enabled by an administrator will be allowed to be added to your offline player. Also, only SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004 3rd Edition courses loaded via the Course Publisher are eligible for Offline Player completion and enablement.

This document provides step-by-step guidelines for downloading, installing, and configuring the Cornerstone Offline Player to allow Schneider Electric employees the ability to complete their required training while disconnected from the internet via the Cornerstone Offline Player Application. Download, install and complete courses to progress in your knowledge of the company and develop existing skills and acquire new ones.

Open your browser. Go to http://schneider-electric-learning.com/Offline_Player/CSOD_Offline_Player_3.0.3.zip and download the zip file which contains the CSOD Offline Player setup.exe file. The .zip file is saved as (CSOD_Offline_Player_3.0.3.zip). Most downloads are stored in the C:\Users\Windows_Username\Downloads (where “Windows Username” is your windows login name). The file is 101 MB in size.

2.2. Extract After successfully downloading the archived file, you must now unzip it using a program such as WinRAR. To extract the files; locate the CSOD_Offline_Player_3.0.3.zip file in your downloads folder and right click > Extract Files… and select the destination folder in which you would like the installation files to be extracted to.

Now we must choose the destination to which we want to extract the installation files. Extraction to the desktop folder is not required but makes for an easier locating of the setup files after the extraction has completed. (Once again replace

Inside you will see multiple files, the specific one we are interested in running is called “setup” (shown below) and is an application file. Double click it to begin the installation.

Double-clicking the setup.exe file will open the CSOD Offline Player 3.0 Installation Wizard. The first window displays a warning about copyright law and international treaties, to abide click next. This will bring you to a new window where you must select the destination folder in which you would like to install the CSOD Offline Player itself. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Cornerstone OnDemand\CSOD Offline Player\ and is acceptable for our purposes. If you would like to save it elsewhere, specify the destination by clicking the “Change…” button next to the file path. After you have selected a destination, click “Next” then click “Install”. When you have entered the requested information, click “Register” and move along to the next step.

NOTE: Every device you add will share the same offline courses, but you must register each device you wish to use offline separately by repeating Step 4 to obtain a unique device key.

• After you register, you will automatically be logged into Cornerstone Offline Player. • If it is your first time using the application, you may or may not see courses listed. If you have already

enrolled in courses via MLL, you will already have a populated list when you first sign in; if you are not enrolled in any classes your list will not be populated. If courses are listed, this does NOT mean that they are available offline; this list is only displaying the courses which you have already enrolled in.

• For future logins, you will use one of the other two options: “Sign In” or “Login With Pin”, both accomplish the same task but provide different methods of verification.

• With “Sign In” you will be required to provide the portal in which you are using (i.e. Schneider-electric), username (same as MLL username), and password (same password as MLL).

• With “Login With Pin” you will be required to enter your MLL username and the PIN you set during Step 4.

We want to select “Launch” to start the desired course in offline mode. Clicking “Delete” will delete the course from your Offline Player, but will not delete it from your transcript listing on MLL. Once the course has been launched, you can navigate through Cornerstone Offline Player by clicking on the various buttons within the course. The left hand side of the player displays the name of the course and the amount of time it takes to complete it, along with your progress in hours, minutes, and seconds. Two tabs are available here; “Outline” and “Narration”. Outline lists the different items that are within any given course.

Narration will display information that corresponds to the selected item in the “Outline” tab. Alternatively, you can view “Narration” while viewing a slide or item by clicking the small icon in the bottom right of the screen during a slide, example below.

or To complete a course, you will need to view each presentation and listen to the dialogue, if your computer lacks sound you may use the narration buttons (shown above) to have an on-screen explanation of the things discussed in each slide. Below is the navigation bar which is displayed at the bottom of the player, this will be used to navigate within the slides.

A – Play/Pause B – Forward/Back a slide C – Adjust sound On the top right of the screen you will notice three links; “Glossary”, “Attachments”, and “Exit”.

Glossary will display terms which are noted throughout a training module with an asterisk (*). Attachments may or may not contain items depending on the course you are engaged in. Clicking this option will open a new window displaying any links or files that are a part of the course. Exit will display a prompt to confirm that you wish to exit the course. You can navigate through the course outline by clicking the items on the left in the “Outline” tab, or you can move forward and ahead using the navigation bar at the bottom. It is strongly recommended that you take time to view each of the items in the outline in order to perform well on the quiz. At the end of a course, there will be an overview or a quiz that pertains to the information you learned during the course. You must answer 80% of the questions correctly to obtain a passing score. You get two attempts per question. If you answer a question wrong twice, the quiz automatically moves on to the next question. You will be able to retake the quiz if you fail.

In order for you to receive credit for completion of a course, you will have to press “Sync” while connected to the internet to relay the information back to the Schneider Electric portal.

After the sync is completed successfully, the “Status” column of the synched course will display “Synched”, and the “Sync” option will be removed from the actions column until the course is revisited.

The “Actions” column will now display only “Launch” and “Delete” in the drop-down menu until the course is launched again.
