Cornerstone data
analysis software
allows efficient
work to design
experiments
and explore
data, analyze
dependencies,
and find answers
you can act upon,
immediately,
interactively,
and without any
programming.
Statistics made for engineers
Engineers rely on statistical techniques
including Design of Experiments (DoE), re-
gression analyses, and multivariate analy-
sis. With a highly intuitive and interactive
user interface, individuals or entire teams
obtain a flexible tool that is applicable in
multiple disciplines – i. e. manufacturing,
research, development, quality assurance,
and education.
The workmap plays an important role rep-
resenting a central concept. You find and
establish your analyzes with a graphical
approach. With workmaps, you keep track
of how data gradually become information,
from datasets through analyses to visual-
ization. You can reuse the same structure /
flows for future data or other data sources.
Extensibility is provided by the Corner-
stone Extension Language (CEL), an Ap-
plication Programming Interface to realize
new dialogs, menus, or analyses functions.
The black boxing capability given by CEL
supports IP protection for unique and
competitive advantage implementation of
analysis algorithms.
You get direct and interactive access to the
R environment for statistical computing
and graphics.
camLine’s real-time systems (LineWorks,
SPACE, XperiDesk, InFrame Synpase MES)
are perfectly supplemented by interactive
data analyses and process optimization
capabilities. The fast statistics tool is easy to
use and compact:
• Model DoEs and generate more knowl-
edge from your experiments
• Analyze and explore data (batch and
interactive) from multiple and diverse
data sources
• You get astonishing graph visualiza-
tions, workmap recording, re-usable
workflows, and tools like brushing,
linked reference lines, or curve pasting

Efficiently work with a consistent and smart approach
Your analyses are always up to date. The
consistent and interactive linking of your
data with subsequently derived graphs,
analyses, results, and reports is preserved,
even when your data changes or you
switch to other data sources of the same
structure. You do not need to program or
execute any scripts. Instead, you use the
workmap. You can quickly sift and work
through large amounts of data. The com-
puting power provided will ensure that you
can interactively and efficiently work even
when dealing with Big or Smart Data.
In a wide range of application fields, most
engineers and scientists needs will be
satisfied. This does not require complicat-
ed approaches. With a smart set of generic
statistical methods and graph types, your
work will be remarkably efficient but nev-
ertheless at high quality.
In most cases, you do not have to leave
the application. You analyze dependencies
among data groups. You test hypotheses
and build predictive models. High level
graphics and reports are immediately suit-
able for presentations with direct updating
of the reports.
Your decisions will be much better based
on facts. Your conclusions are substantiated
by valid analyses.
Both, novice and experts of statistics
benefit from a modern and smart approach
through increased work efficiency and
minimized training time.
The included manuals were created as text-
books that allow to quickly start with a set
of standard statistical methods. You profit
from detailed guides, how to effectively
implement these statistical methods. For
all statistical objects, a direct interpretative
aid is available.

Take advantage of
analysis workflows
from previous
projects and
quickly adapt them
to new problems.
Practical for daily use in engineering
• Lean user interface
• Powerful visualization capabilities
• Workmaps graphically document your
analyses workflow
• Report designer to present your data and
analyses results
Even without the application of a formal
statistical method, you already have mul-
tiple views on your data at the same time
that help to …
… find out dependencies,
… understand correlations,
… discover anomalies.
For example, to visualize the context of
selected points, you simply touch them in
a graph with the brushing tool. The data
will be highlighted correspondingly in all
affected graphs and datasets.
You can combine graphs with tabular
results and arrange them in final reports.
With only a few consistent graph types,
the essentials of graphical data analysis is
being covered.
Via clipboard and with standard file and
document formats (e. g. MS Word, Power-
Point), you can export your analyses re-
sults into other graphic tools and software
applications.
Access to data sources – You have direct,
transparent access to data stored in re-
mote database sources that are accessible
via ODBC with open access to SQL code.
Spreadsheet formats like Excel can be read
as well as ASCII files. An automatic reread
of data from its source is supported. Any
number of files of same column structure
can be read into a single dataset simul-
taneously. Drag & Drop of datasets and
workmaps accelerate data acquisition.

“The new designed
toolbars, menus, icons,
and shortcuts are very
useful.”
Dr. Thomas Bauer,

& Optimization, OSRAM

Workmaps make your analysis process-
es reusable – As you analyze data, the
workmap automatically records each step
of your analysis process in the appropriate
order. A workmap contains all the individ-
ual analyses steps, data and derived data,
subsets, presentation styles, tables, graphs,
analyses objects, and reports.
The workmap window shows all the in-
dividual components in the form of icons
linked by arrows. The arrows visualize the
data flow and the dependencies of datasets,
analyses, graphs, and the final reports.
Workmaps and their components can be
continued processing. In general, they are
reusable, i. e. generically applicable. No
scripting language is necessary in Corner-
stone since this is an intrinsic function of
the workmap. Different data source files
can be merged into a single workmap.
Workmaps visualize your analyses
workflow by connected live elements.
The graphs are often the starting point for
analyses and discovery. Your workflow in-
tegrates data access, visualization, analysis,
and presentation in one package.
• Workmaps automatically record each
step in your analysis process
• Workmaps display your datasets, graphs,
and analysis objects
• Diagrams show where the different
graphs, tables, and analysis objects are
derived from
• Many datasets can be read into a single
workmap
• Graphs can be joined even if they come
from different datasets

Cornerstone
provides the
necessary
statistical methods
compact and clear
to engineers.
Core functions
The Design of Experiments (DoE) compo-
nent contains a step-by-step guide to suc-
cessfully perform designed experiments.
DoE supports advanced techniques like
constraints in design space, inclusion runs,
accessible candidate set for algorithmic
designs, methods to perform robustness
(Taguchi) or mixture designs.
The Regression component also covers
ANOVA methods and helps model and im-
prove your process on study. You can like-
wise handle DoE or historical data. You cre-
ate and refine models that describe one or
multiple responses as a function of one or
more either scaled or categorical predictors.
All features are supported like arbitrary
high order expansion, stepwise regression,
Box-Cox transformation, residual analy-
sis in an unsurpassed compact workflow.
A standardized regression workflow eases
and sturdies your work.
MANOVA offers analyses techniques to
compare groups based on multivariate
data. You can investigate, whether the
groups are different and how the differenc-
es are determined by the analyzed vari-
ables. Use MANOVA also for discriminant
analysis.
Principal Components Analysis is a tech-
nique for reducing the number of variables
needed to represent the dependencies in
your data. It is also a preliminary step for
regression analysis in case of correlated
predictors that otherwise cannot be ade-
quately analyzed (regression on principal
components). This direct combination of
both steps is supported.

The menu design
leads downright
according to the
sequence of typical
analysis steps.
The R integration gives you access to all
functions of the R environment for statisti-
cal computing and graphics. The interface
even allows to “brush through R”. This way,
you can iteratively leverage the visual pow-
er in combination with the newest statisti-
cal methods in R.
Exploratory Data Analysis – Tools such as
interactive graphs with brushing or label-
ing support your work, practically before
you need to consider inferential statistical
methods.
Summary Statistics and Test – Create
statistics (mean, median, standard-devia-
tion etc.) with confidence bands. Grouping
allows comparisons and data aggregation.
Standard Tests (i. e. normal distribution,
comparison of means and variances) per-
form basic statistical inference.
Statistical Process Control is a powerful
tool for monitoring your actual production
process, identifying assignable causes for
quality deviations. As an integral part of
the Six Sigma methodology, you can create
control charts for overseeing and improv-
ing your processes.
Distribution Fitting and Capability – You
interactively fit distribution models to your
data. Process capability indexes like Cp and
Cpk quantify the quality of your processes
to fulfill customers’ requirements.
Six Sigma and Kaizen – For these concepts
of process improvement, the approach
intentionally addresses the level of engi-
neers’ tasks. Its smart concept is clearly
results-oriented. It shortens both training
times, as well as the overall analyses efforts
to achieve meaningful results.
