Coriolis Flow Measurement
Provides the most accurate flow meter technology (≥ +/- 0.1% of flow rate)
Siemens Coriolis sensors are multi-parameter devices
Meaning one device can measure all of these at the same time!
Temperature sensor
= + Volumetric flow meter Densitometer
+ + Mass flow
meter
Provides temperature measurement at flow measurment point; 2 x 1K RTD
Provides a real-time density corrected volume flow measurement
Provides an in situ API density measurement with or without flow
Why Coriolis
M2M Flow Training 2015 Page 5 Don Price
Volumetric flow can be subject to errors due to temperature, pressure and viscosity variations.
Mass flow 0.10% error Volumetric flow 2.5 - 0.25 % error
Sometimes variables are not a good thing………..

• Density is inversely proportional to frequency • All meters calibrated on air and liquid and at elevated temp. • MASS 6000 signal converter outputs, density, temperature and mass flow Density = A + B (1 + t) T2
A, B = Calibration constants = Density TC t = Liquid temperature T = Periodic time fr = Resonance frequency

What can the flowmeter measure?
1. Remember, it’s a sensitive mechanical instrument. You don’t get ±0.X% accuracy without taking care of its environment and operating conditions.
2. Mechanical vibrations and small shifts in the fluid (micro-motions) will disturb the measurement. The only solution is to use an appropriate filter.
3. Pressure pulsations can disturb the measurement.
4. Pressure and flow pulsation like those from a control valve which is flashing or cavitating will disturb the measurement.

Custom-designed electric heating jacket for SITRANS FCS400 sensors
• Custom-designed for SITRANS FC410/430 sensors in sizes DN15-80
• Supply-voltage-specific
configurations either as 230 VAC or 115 VAC
• Designed to maintain up to 50 deg C differential between sensor body and ambient temperature (max temp is 200 deg C)
• Due to design not for use in Ex areas
• Jacket is not for process heating! Its purpose is to make trace heating of the process piping simple for users to ensure stable sensor & media temperature
Application areas where the heating jacket shines include: • Chocolate and cocoa extract • Margarine and other processed vegetable oils • Cheese, Vegemite, Marmite – foodstuffs with high
viscosity at room temperature • Liquid sulfur • Glues and other non-hazardous chemicals with
high viscosity at room temperature
