DO WE UNDERSTAND WHAT IS COPYRIGHT?

Take a minute and think about it, specially when you are

utilizing materials from the web. Do you stop and think

about the copy rights?

Many times we may think that materials in the web are

for everybody's use and we may say those are, But are we

been cautious enough to give credit to the writer?

How can we tell if the information is copyright and how is

our usage limited.

HOW CAN I TELL WHAT IS COPYRIGHT ON THE WEB?

If the work is marked with a © it means it is copyright.

All materials even if those are marked as public are covered with

the copyright laws.

In those cases you should check your copyright regulations and

utilize what is permitted.

The following is a link that shows the Fair Use Chart for

Teachers, though you may still need to check on the copyright

laws.

COPYRIGHT LAW

As the internet communication keeps on growing

the copyright laws keep getting more flaws.

We do have guidelines of usage and laws that cover

the writers, but many of those are not well stated.

There has also been an outgrow of ways in which

the internet material can be utilize, but the

regulation are sometimes not enough.

INDIVIDUAL LIABILITY FOR INFRINGEMENT

This is when the individual uses the copy right

material and does not follow that copyright laws.

Willful infringement means that you knew you

were infringing and you did it anyway.

The individual may also claim that he or she was

not aware of the fair usage, but they may still be

liable for damages.

THE WEB*Public domain-These are works that can be utilized more broth.

-These works may be coming from existing paper materials that are now becoming digitalized.

*Orphan works-These are works in which many times the owner can not be determined.

-The orphan works may not show the name or origin, but are still covered with the copyright laws.
