    INTRODUCTION.

    Entering in to a new world, we saw that telecom sector changing itself dramatically increase over the last26 years. After privatization, most of the companies have changed their policy procedures and methods in

    order to advance their telecom sector. As a result, the industry has been grown in a phenomenal way in

    Pakistan and I real feel very proud to say that Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited is one of

    the company.

    Pakistan Telecommunication Limited Company is the biggest giant telecommunication service provider in

    Pakistan. It was established in January 1st, 1996. PTCL provide telephonic service nationwide and is the

    backbone of countrys telecommunication infrastructure despite arrivals of other companies such as

    Telenor and Warid etc. It contain more than more than 2200 exchange around the country which providing

    the largest fixed landline network.PTCL is the sole land line company in Pakistan and its enjoying themonopoly. Although PTCL is facing so much severe challenges from the past few years but still nobody in

    Pakistan can compete with its Land Line services that is its biggest achievement. Its backbone products

    include CDMA, Broadband Internet, IPTV, which boast the part of its business.

    FEASIBILITY OF A PROJECT

    Developing and launching of a new product in a market is a very complex strategy for any company

    because company should know the pros and cons of launching the new product. But the most important

    thing is to manage the price and costing of a product & cost benefit analysis. So, in order to develop thenew idea in our core products (i.e. PSTN) I am going to put some new techniques which give boost not

    only in financial sector but also the companys overall infrastructure. I am going to give some extra benefit

    to our professional students i.e.

    1) NTC

    New Telephone Connection will be provided to the professional students with free of cost

    telephone sets at the time of installation.

    2) BROAD BAND & CONFERENCE CALL FACILITY

    (1MB) Broadband connection (nominal charges) with a free conference call facility . In this

    facility customer can start conference conversation with the multiple people at a single time

    through PSTN and this facility can also be used under video conference calling on just to plug the

    data cable on laptop/desktop or any other supportable device.

    Structure of an Organization

    Its clarify the role of employees of an organization and to determine that what should do on what way,who is responsible, what objectives is important to achieved and who is report to whom. It also focus oneffective decision making and always supporting organization objectives.

    The head of PTCL is called Mr.President.then comes the SEVPs (Senior Executive Vice President)

    ,SEVP (Finance),SEVP(Operations),SEVP(technical),SEVP(HRM),SEVP(Marketing & Business

    Development).Then the chain of Executive Vice President i.e.,EVP(FinanceCentral),EVP(Marketing),EVP(HR-Central),EVP (Accounts),EVP(operations),EVP(I.T. & Training &

    Research) and EVP(Revenue).then the next layer is Chief engineer and general Managers who report to

    the concerns EVPs.Then the next stage is the middle management which involves Senior Manager,Deputy Directors, Assistant Directors, Accounts Officers, Financial Analyst, Marketing

    Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issues a license to Pakistan Telecommunication Company

    Limited for the provision of telecom service within Pakistan to private sector and to the general public as

    the Federal Government may determine and during the whole period of Pakistan Telecommunication ofthe Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited(PTCL) specified in an act (Pakistan

    Telecommunication corporation under the act of 1996).PTCL has 26 years license to provide telecom

    service in Pakistan with stake in the company about 63% equity.PTCL has a huge infrastructure with a

    figure of more than 4,505,262 users as on (July 2011).

    These are the facts about the PTCL network. Its a really big achievement in the technology

    department since 1947.

    Milestones in Operational & Technical department

    PTCL is continuously improving its network. During the year 2010 PTCL installed capacity was

    4940154 but now in current year the installed capacity is improved. Moreover PTCL achieved100% digitalization in this year. More technicalities are as under:

    Computerized Fault Management System

    This facility is used to register and rectify the Land line fault in a computerized way. This system

    is working approximately 90% of the country through dialing 1218.

    Launch Of IN Platform

    This introduces for additional value added services. New Intelligent network was launched on

    October 2003.this platform gives higher capacity for prepaid calling cards and provision for

    introduction of new services.

    Optical Fiber Junction Network

    For further improvement optical fiber junction introduces in this phase. This system also supportfor the successful project of PTCLWLL, Broad Band & IPTV.

    This is about a very short discussion on PTCL Networking conditions. Now we move towards the

    developing the services and offering of PTCL.

    SERVICES OF PTCL

    PTCL not only provide conventional telephone facility but also offer optical fiber services. We will

    briefly discuss the product line which being offered by the PTCL.PTCL divided his service in to

    two parts:

    a) Services for private customers.b) Services for corporate sector.

    (a) Services for Private customers:

    These services are normally use for normal individuals /home users those who use

    telephone in their private place thats why they belong to non-business users.

    1) New Telephone Connection

    PTCL is presently the only telecom who provide the fixed line telephone to the

    Customers in Pakistan. So any private business unit or individuals needs new telephoneconnection is for the provision of telephone services.

    2) Value Added Services

    (2 a)CLI (Callers Line Identification)Caller Line Identification allows customers to identify the caller before picking up the phone

    receiver. To subscribe the CLI facility customer need a telephone set which having a display

    capability or a separate CLI device attached to the phone set.

    Advantages. Check on obnoxious calls.

    Complete record of incoming/outgoing calls with time and date.

    PTCL recently introduce another interesting and handy service brand as PTCL Conference Call (3party call service). This facility bring provide an opportunity to bring families and families bring

    closure at a time.

    2(c) E-Bill Payments

    Billing payments always trying to provide an easy track of its valued customers through launching

    a billing services which is available in PTCL Calling Card.This services basically provided tobilling solution for the users.

    How to use it:

    The basic concept of the services is to provide the billing solution to PTCL customers. The samePTCL Calling cards are use for this purpose. Through this card customers can pay his bill on his

    phone, no additional charges for bill payment transaction.

    2(d) d-Bill Payments

    This services belongs to those customer who have not received their bill at home due to any

    problem, they can easily get the bill from the option of online duplicate bill named

    (www.dbill.ptcl.net.pk).

    How to use it:

    Connect to the site through above mentioned web address.

    Entered 8 digit telephone numbers.

    Enter equipment number account number and then enter.

    2(e) Payment through Credit Card.

    I order to facility our customers PTCL provide another remarkable facility in shape of credit cards.

    This facility recently launched in most of the cities in Pakistan. With the help of this facility

    customers can pay their bill through his credit card. Customer feel very relax because of there is no

    involvement of cash in the whole transactions. But this facility only available in our PTCL

    OSS/Cash collection Centers.

    2(F) EVO Wireless Broadband.

    EVO is PTCL wireless broad band solution for high speed internet access. Its available as a USB

    or PCMCIA card and thus is a plug-n-play portable connection which allow users to remainconnected on the go. It runs on a 3 G network and can offer an average of 300-500 Kpbs download

    speeds. PTCL is offering unlimited download on this package.

    U-FONE(Subsidiary).

    It was established on Jan 29, 2001.Ufone grew up as a great cellular operator in Pakistan. Theyoffered services under the jurisdiction of Pak Telecom Mobile Ltd and this is the subsidiary of

    Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation limited.

    It has a successful business not in term of customers satisfaction but also in network coverage. It

    provides a variety of economical packages having a great infrastructure all over the Pakistan. U-

    fone becomes the 2nd largest company who grew up in a very short span of its operations.

    Current Situation of U-fone.

    At earliest U fone sales was started in major cities of Pakistan includes Peshawar, Karachi,

    Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Quetta, Faisalabad, Multan, Sukkar and so many other small town all overthe country.Initialy U fone star the air time package of just Rs. 150/ & a normal NTC package forauthorized dealer is Rs50/.Now the U fone network cover all the areas of Pakistan having

    economical package and also gives an excellent services in every aspect to the customers.

    Working Capacity of U-Fone.

    Ufone around 24.75% users in Pakistan which means that U fone has 21,751,252 customers in acurrent scenario.

    Broad Band and Multimedia.

    Multimedia and Broadband is the biggest internet service provider of the country. It is formerly bythe name of Paknet Limited which is the subsidy of Pakistan Telecommunication Company

    Limited. In 2008,it was merged in PTCL and started operation in Jan 2000.

    PTCL commanding the internet through Public Data Network (PDN) which was dissolved in

    December 1999 and all the assets and liabilities are transfer to Pak net Limited. Initially Pak net

    has only 6000 customers but gradually their target and build a strong relationship with customer asa result they make 50,000 customers in a very short period of time but now Multimedia and broad

    bank reached the milestone of more than 150,000 customers.

    The current revenue is more than U.S.6.5 million per annum. which is very huge than the initial

    budget because of on that time its total balance sheet in not more than U.S.6.0 million. All thecredit goes to his management because they provide an excellent atmosphere to his customers.

    They always keep focus on his customers and made a strong strategic planning and provide a

    hassle free network to his customers.

    COMPETITORS OF PTCL

    As we all know there is nobody to compete the PTCL in Landline department but as far as the growth of

    telecommunication sector, mobile companies boost up rapidly. In a current scenario more than 1000

    million of customers who avail the mobile telecom facility.

    In an existing market, there are three big giant which are compete the U-fone (subsidy of

    PTCL).Following are the name of these companies;

    Following are the role of Revenue Department;

    Bill delivering

    Correction of Billing

    Collection and correction of defaulter amount. Monitoring Cash collection in OSS center.

    Check and control the miscellaneous reports.

    Bill Delivering Issues

    It is the responsility of revenue department to delivery each and every bill of his customers. In case any

    missing or damaged then the revenue must provide the duplicate bill to his customer (either delivering at

    home at the request of customer or deliver at customer centre).

    Correction in Billing

    If any discrepancy or late payment incurred on bill or any payment collection missed by the bank is dulycorrected by revenue officer, because these discrepancies shown in bill under the arrear section.

    Collection and Correction of defaulter Amount

    It is also the responsibilities of revenue department to collect the defaulted amount from defaulter. Each

    TRI has its own target (100%) which is assigned by the Credit Management Cell (CMC). When thecustomer paid his defaulted amount then this amount automatically transfers to system billing which is

    duly corrected by the revenue officer after verification.

    Monitoring Cash Collection in OSS Center

    In order to maximize customer satisfaction, PTCL newly launched his OSS centers. Under this

    facility, customers have a choice to pay their bill in any branch of OSS center instead of banks andpost office and the payment of bill transfer to PTCL in quickly manner.

    We all know that there are numerous PTCL centers all over the Pakistan. The overview of the saiddepartment is as under:

    Free Help Line Services:

    PTCL established call centre (24/7) in order to overcoming the issues of its valued customers.

    Customer freely asked to any questions, launched complaints regarding the services. The following 3

    Toll free numbers are available for this purpose:

    1236:

    This number is normally use for any activation, deactivation, change of service or any other type of

    different enquiry for Broadband, IPTV, tariff packages for Landlines, WLL (v-fone)PTCL. The

    service available 24 hours 7 weeks for every customer.

    1217:

    This facility for obtaining any kind of number (College, Government Organization, Schools,Hospitals, Private offices etc.

    1218:

    This service is used when the customer launched a complaint regarding the fault appearing in land

    lines of telephone and in response system provides a complaint number to his customers. This iscentralized premises where the fault has been rectifying with 24-48 hours.

    One Stop Shop (OSS):

    To facilitate customers PTCL established the customer centers all over the Pakistan. This center is

    under the control of Customer Service Manager called (OSS MANAGER) with other junior staff

    which having a responsibility to take care of its customers regarding any kind of issues. Cash

    collection point also established in OSS centers, where one cashier has been appointed for receiving

    the cash on billing paid by the customers and this activity has been supervised by one officer who isbelongs to the revenue region.

    Corporate Customer Centers

    In order to facilitate of its valued corporate client PTCL established corporate customers cell at all

    operational Regional Head Quarter level. Corporate customer resolved his problem under one windowor by dialing UAN 111-20-20-2.
