ALCMS ComponentsDigitrac™IntergratedControl&MonitoringTheDigitrac™isadevicethatisintergratedintotheALCMSsystemtocontrolandmonitorCCRs,SelectorSwitchesandGeneralElements(Generators,Windcones,Beacons,RunwayVisualRange{RVR}).

Eachconstantcurrentregulator(CCR)andeachcontrollableelementhasitsownDigitrac™TheDigitrac™isamicroprocessor-basedmod-ule that includes all communication, command, monitoring, input/outputandfail-safefunctions.Thisdistributedstructuresimplifiesin-stallation,significantlyincreasesreliabilityandeaseofmaintenance.Thecontrollableelementsreceivetheairtrafficcontrollercommandsviathecommunicationsnetwork,executethecommandsandreportbackthestatusofeach controlled element to all control locations.

Thesystemcommunicatesinrealtimeallowingairportpersonneltobeawareofthestatusofthelightsontheairfieldatalltimes.TheDigitrac™alsosendsthestatusreportstotheALCMSwhichstoresthe historical information.

Megatrac™InsulationResistanceMonitoringTheMegatrac™isaunitthatperformsinsulationresistance monitoring(meggerteststhe)seriescircuit,allowingthesystemtoautomaticallyormanuallyrunthethetestandreportthe integrityoftheairfieldlightingcircuit.

TheALCMSsystemisusuallydesignedtocommunicatevia powerlinecarrier,sincepowerlinescanloseinsulationquality andthelinecandegradeovertime,wereccommendhaving theMegatracsysteminstalledinsideorneareachCCRThe Megatrac™unithelpsminimizethepossibilityofcommands beinglostbecausethereistoomuchnoiseonthecircuitby monitoringthecircuitintegrity.Thisallowthecustomertime toprepareandrespondtoanypowerlinecircuitconsistancy problems.MaintenancepersonnelcanaccessthedatathroughttheALCMShistoryandmonitorthelongtermintegrityoftheairfieldcircuit.

ALCMS ComponentsLogitrac™LampMonitoringSystemTheLogitracLampMonitoringSystemprovidesadvancedcontrolandmoni-toringofstopbarsandguardlightsaspartofaSurfaceMovementGuidanceandControlSystemplanandfailedlamplocatorcapability. TheLampMonitoringSystem(LMS)interactswiththeALCMStocontrolandmonitoraseriesoflightsoreachindividuallighttosupportindependenton,off,orblinkcontrolateachlamp.AdeviceinstalledateachlampknowastheContinousLogitracDevice(CLD)communicatestoandreceivescommandsfromtheALCMSthroughaContinousLogitrac™Adaptor(CLA)typicallylocatedintheairfieldelectricalvault.TheALCMSthenisabletoreceiveanalertmessagewhenaburntoutlamporsensoractivationoccursandprocessthesystemlampstatusestodetermineairfieldcategorycapability(CATI,II,III).ThefailedlamplocatorprovidestheabilitytoensurethattheairportcanmeetthelowvisabilityrequirementsforCATIIandCATIIIoperations.

FiberLogitrac™DeviceIftheairportisusingFiberopticcablinginadditiontopowerlinecarrierthananoptionistheFiberLogitracDevice(FLD).TheFLDcommunicatesviafiberopticlinestoprovideafasterandmoreefficientwayofcontrollingandmonitoringindiviuallamps.WiththeFLDyoucanavoidelectromagneticinterferencefieldissues due to low insulation resistance on the series circuit. The FLD does not re-quireaCLAtocommunicatetotheALCMSsystem.TheFLDhasadatacommu-nicationfasterthan1MbpsensuringafasterresponsetimethatwithastandardsystemTheFLDinstalledateachlampenablesthecontrolandmonitoringofoneortwoleadlampfixtureswhenconnectedbetweenthefixtureandisola-tiontransformer(L830/L831).TheFLDisafullyencapsulateddevicethatisIP68rated to protect against the elements and other damage. ALCMS ComponentsIndustrialGradeComputersAsperFAAAC150/5345-56allofthecomputersusedinall locationsoftheALCMSsystemareindustrialgradecomputers designed for industrial applications. These computers are much more reliableandhaveagreaterprocessingpowerthannormalcomputer.Itisimportanttohaveareliableindustiralcomputertoensurethattherearenounexpectedandpotentiallydangerousinterruptionstothelightsontheairfield.ThecomputersuseIntel™coreprocessors,havethecapacityforadditionalRAMuseWindowsoperatingsystemwithALCMSsoftwareanddatabase.Allcomputersalsoincludekeyboardandmouse.Mobilecomputerunitsarealsoavailabletocontrolandmonitorthesystemwhile outontheairfield.

UninterruptiblePowerSuppliesItisrecommendthatallcomputercabinetshaveaUPSplaced inside.TheUPSdeliverscontinuous,high-qualityACpowertothe computerequipmentwithoutabreakwhenswitchingtoagenerator. System Overview:EatonCrouse-Hindsprovidesanairfieldmonitoringandcontrolsystem(ALCMS)usinga EatonProgrammableLogicController(PLC).Thissystemwasdesignedwiththesmallto mediumairfieldorGAAirportinmind.ThePLC-ALCMSisdesignedtoprovidecontroland monitoringofconstantcurrentregulatorsandgeneralairfieldelements.EatonCrouse-Hinds workswithcustomerstoprovideaneaseofdoingbusinessthatresultsinareliableandlong lastingsystemfortheairport.

Failsafe Options:TypeA-Preset-Uponafailsafecondition, the ALCMS controlled deviceswillswitchtoapre-definedstate(ONtoapre-definedbright-nesslevel,orOFF).

TypeB-LastState-Uponafailsafecondition, the ALCMS controlled devicesmustremainonatthesamebrightnesslevelpriortofailsafecondition.Thefailsafedevicemustmaintain last state (latched) condi-tion.

Control Options:TypeA–ControlOnly.-Thistypeofmonitoringprovidesabasicsystemleveldiagnosticandalarmreport-ing.Thismonitoringleveldoesnotprovidemonitoringorfeedbackforthecontrolledelementsofthesystem(i.e. Constant Current Regulators).
