1. Why?
● Determine why you are doing content marketing for your startup!● Have a goal in your mind before you start content marketing.
● New users?● New emails?● New sales?
2. Be genuine
● Prove your expertise with the best content you have created.● Content marketing is about creating content that you know best.● Be genuine with your content, share your experience and be an
authority in your niche.
3. Share the news
● Share relevant, helpful news in your industry.● Don’t rehash the old news.
4. Be persistent
● Don’t stop producing content after a couple of blog posts.● Be patient.● Content marketing is not an overnight thing that brings you lots of
customers in a very short amount of time.
5. Find time
● Content marketing is not easy, it takes time.● You need to create very high quality content.● You need to spend a lot of time to create quality content.● Just invest the time required to create quality content, don’t make it
cheap.
6. Build trust
● In order to build trust, you need to create valuable content for your audience.
● Let them comment on your content.● Do not afraid of bad comments. ● Reply to the comments.
7. Know what they want
● Don’t just write for yourself.● Do you know your possible customer persona? Know it!● Write for your possible audience.
8. Know what they don’t want
● Know your potential customer’s problems.● Try to solve their problems, even write manuals for your
competitors.○ i.e. If Evernote is your competitor, write How to get best out of
Evernote?
9. Spoil them
● Try to WOW!!! your readers.● If you can, make an infographic not just pure text.● Even better, create video content.
10. Lure them
● Create very impressive and alluring content, you can afford to bait your visitors.
● Simply require them to provide their email addresses so they can access more of your wonderful content.
11. Measure your success
● Make sure to have Google Analytics installed.● Use tools like Ahrefs, Moz Open Source Explorer to measure the
backlinks or rankings of your content.
12. Have a content marketer
● Make sure to have a dedicated people in your team for content marketing.
● You may want to hire a freelancer for this job as well from places like Upwork or Freelancers.
13. Educate your writers/yourself
● Especially if you are not the one who writes the articles, you need to educate your writers.
● You need to let your writers know your main objectives with content creation.
● If you are the one writing content, you also need to have your goals in your mind. Always.
14. SEO, SEO, SEO
● One of the ways of getting traffic to your content is search engines.● You need to consider the SEO aspects when you are writing your
content.● Yes, sometimes you may need to put some extra words just for
SEO but that is how the game works.● But always try to create quality content that should be your first
rule for SEO.
15. Use social media
● Content marketing is not just about creating content but it is also sharing your content.
● You should use social media to distribute your content. MUST! (even helps for SEO)

● Again, you need to distribute your content after you wrote them.● You cannot just write and wait for others to find it.● If you have a email list/newsletter, you should email your new
content to your subscribers.● If you don’t have an email list, you MUST. Just go create one.
17. Be visual
● Don’t just produce text, merge your images/videos and even slides like this into with your text.
● Producing just text alone can be boring, at least put some images into your posts.
18. Don’t pay them
● Try to avoid paid traffic in the beginning.● Especially if you are bootstrapping your startup.● Content marketing is not free of course, it takes time and money. If
you want to be better at content marketing, invest your money on content marketing as well.
19. Recycle
● Reuse your content in different mediums.● Try to get little content snippets from your actual content for
tweets/facebook posts.● Transform your content just from a blog post to something

20. Hang around with stars
● Try to find influencers in your niche.● Connect with them, try to help them even for free. ● It will pay off if you can get the attention of them.
21. Mind your style
● Proofread your content before publishing it.● Use tools like Hemingway to find the common errors in your
content.● Don’t be like other badly written blog posts just for content
marketing.
22. Who are you?
● Who are you? Really?● Tell your story. True story always sells.● You need to have a story and let the others know it.● What is your story?
23. Be interactive
● Create interactive content.● You may want to create quizzes for your audience.● Even if most of the people are doing it, it works and people love
quizzes.● There are even tools like Qzzr to easily create quizzes.
24. Don’t trick them
● Don’t mislead your readers.● Do not come up with the blog title ideas just to get more clicks.● Have a title just about what you are talking inside your post.
25. Write a lot
● You need to keep writing. ● It is an essential key to success in content marketing for your
startups.● You also need to write loooooong content, rather than having 4
articles 500 words each, write 1 article 2000 words long.● It will help you in terms of shares, link building and SEO.
