MESSAGE FROM THE VICE CHANCELLOR

It is indeed a matter of great pleasure and honor that I have taken up the baton of

University of Kotli as its 2nd Vice Chancellor, an institution of significance for

imparting knowledge and promoting research in the region, since its establishment

in 2014. As a new Vice Chancellor of the University, I am committed to make this

University among one of the high ranking institutions of the country in every respect.

In order to achieve this goal, I would fully utilize my energies, experience and

potentials. As University of Kotli ushers into its fourth academic year and achieved

significant milestones and there is much that the institute has yet to be achieved in

coming years. Higher Education and creation are key sources for the enlightening &

developing communities, nations and will be highly sought-after within Pakistan and

around the world. Our challenge is to generate ideas that will benefit society, and to educate and train people

to work in fields where they will be valued both for their specialized knowledge, and their ability to research,

and derive solutions of problems through discussion. University of Kotli, Azad Jammu and Kashmir is a

credible academic hub for the students of Azad Jammu and Kashmir due to its quality education and

catchment area. The University during the last three years has earned its name due to significant

achievements in academic and human resource development. Despite of embryonic stage of its

development; University of Kotli has hosted a mega event of an International Conference focusing on

indigenous resource of the region. University of Kotli is nurturing more than three thousand students in an

array of degree programs because of its peaceful and calm learning environment. It is a matter of great

satisfaction that this organization has produced high quality graduates in administrative sciences in near past

whom hold key positions in regional, national and international organizations. Newly established faculties

including Social Sciences and Humanities and Sciences are taking off for a glorious flight to earn excellent

repute in academia and research in the country and globe. Since District Kotli and its catchment area is blessed

with tremendous biological and physical resources, the applied research on these resources can act as

catalyst to bring about a socio-economic change in the society with sustainable development. University of

Kotli is very popular for its conducive environment for learning and support it provides to its students. Student

support in the shape of Prime minister’s laptop scheme, Fee reimbursement and HEC need based scholarships

are available and are being offered to students as per guidelines of HEC, Pakistan. The University management

and faculty is focusing on quality education as well as research to groom the younger generation for national

and international services. I welcome all the perspectives students in University of Kotli and wish them best of

luck. The University Newsletter is the only source of information of all the curricular, co-curricular,

conferences, workshops, seminars, development and social activities the institute is enduring in the region to

uplift the standard of education in Azad Kashmir under the umbrella of HEC. I CONGRATULATE the Editorial

Board for their efforts to publish the 2nd volume of University Newsletter 2017.

Greetings! It has been my great pleasure working with the University of Kotli (UoK) to

present you the 2nd volume of University Newsletter on Academic and Research

activities in the year 2017 with high quality content. The UoK Newsletter welcomes

submissions that explore social, educational and career aspects of students and

teaching because the University Newsletter takes a broad and inclusive view of the

study at UoK including all the aspects of teaching-learning. This Publication outlet is

suitable for a wide variety of interests. As this is the 2nd edition of Newsletter, it’s

been a delightful run, and we would like to thank those who have stuck with us all this

time, those that came along for part of the ride, and those who helped to ensure the

quality in academic and social learning in the campus. The University Newsletter will

continue to publish the News of all the academic events and achievements of the institute. The Newsletter

In this regard, Department of Mathematics arranged a study tour of BS Mathematics class to International Islamic University Islamabad and provided them an opportunity to meet the students and faculty members of Mathematics department. for which I have acted as Chief Editor. Firstly thanks are due to the Vice Chancellor who

has a vision of shaping the University to ensure it has maintained its place as the

aware of the responsibilities that the editor's role entails, and I approach my role with

Thw President of the State of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Masood Khan visited the

University of Kotli on December 26, 2017 for stone laying ceremony of Girls Hostel of the University and also

distributed PM need based scholarships' cheques among the students of the university. The President

addressed the faculty and students of the university. In his address Masood Khan emphasized the quality of

education, merit, awareness about use of information technology and positive use of social media. The

President encouraged the students of the university to develop their skills and enhance their knowledge for

meeting the future challenges and job market needs. Moreover, Honorable President also gave a

comprehensive talk on Kashmir issue and its future aspects. He addressed the young talent of the university to

play their part for promoting the Kashmiri culture at national and international level and how the youth of AJK

can highlight human rights violation in J&K by Indian armed forces at International level through social media.

On this occasion The Vice Chancellor University of Kotli Professor Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi , all Deans,

HoDs, teaching faculty, administrative staff of the university were present .

University Literary society organized 1st inter-departmental Naat competition in the conference hall of the

university to encourage and motivate the students of the university towards literary activities and engage

them in re-creational and positive activities which promote literary sense among youth. Naat competition

was organized under the Supervision of Directorate of Students Affairs . In the competition one student from

each department competed to represent the concerned department. . The chief guest of the event was In-

charge Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Butt. Moreover, in the event

Director students'' Affairs Mr. Liaqat Hussain and other distinguished teaching faculty members were also

present. The event was won by Anum Rathor Public Administration Department, . Moreover, Mr. Aqeel Kiani

got 3rd position in the competition.

Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi at the opening speech appreciated and acknowledged the services of

Professor Dr. Ghulam Ghous (Professior Emiratus) for the academic excellence and uplift of Higher education

quality in the University of Kotli. Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi addressed the University teaching and non-

teaching staff , students at the Welcome seminar arranged by the University Staff Association and said that

University of Kotli Azad Jammu and Kashmir is a credible academic hub for the students of Azad Jammu and

Kashmir due to its quality education and catchment area. The University during the last three years has earned

The university of kotli hosts second international " ROMI-E-KASHMIR INTERNATIONAL MUSHAIRA' at the UoK on 16-11-2017. A mushaira is a beloved part of the culture of Pakistan, and the Deccan, particularly among the Hyderabadi Muslims, and it is greatly admired by participants as a forum for free self-expression. The event was organized by English Literary Society of the Department of English. In this event national and international poets like Noshi Gillani, Ali Zaroon, Khalid Khawaja, Maheen Malik and others read their poetry on various themes of life. The University administration the Registrar Dr, Mahroof Khan, DSA Liaqat Hussain, all the Deans including Dr Iftikhar Ahmed Butt & Prof.Mushtaq Ahmed Sajid also attended the event. The University students including male and female also participated to enjoy the poetry of the poets. All the poets acknowledged the hospitality of the university and thanked for hosting such a big event in Kotli. The event was also organized and managed with special cooperation and support of Kotli Literary Society. Moreover in the event a big numbers of people from social, educational sectors also participated and loud its success.

THE UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI ORGANIZES A TWO DAYS TRAINING WORKSHOP FOR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF OF THE UNIVERSITY ON 16 & 17 NOVEMBER 2017.

THE VICE CHANCELLOR PROF.DR. SYED DILNAWAZ AHMAD GARDEZI INAUGURATES THE CONSTRUCTION OF GIRLS HOSTEL AT UoK .

The training was organized to build the financial, management and professional skills of the administrative

staff of the university . In this training all the clerical staff, office management, financial staff , registrar office

staff participated and the trainers gave them lectures and training tutorials regarding their relevant fields and

proficiency enhancement methods and techniques which can be a valuable source for improving their

performance.

The hostel is dire need of female students and to offer

them better and secure residence, a project of 9 Million

has been started and the construction project will be

completed in 06-08 months period by a Chinese

construction company.

DEPARTMENTAL BRIEFING /PRESENTATIONS 2017

Since the joining , The Vice Chancellor University of Kotli Prof.Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi asked each department to give briefing on their progress and future plans, programs offered and the qualification of the faculty members. Moreover in the briefing all the f HODs and concerned Deans, Directors were also directed by the Vice Chancellor to discuss the challenges and possible solutions to the problems. The Presentation was started with the briefing given by the Registrar office about the overall structure of the university. Treasurer section gave a comprehensive briefing to the Vice Chancellor on the financial matters and projects of the University. The University of Kotli has four Faculties and under these faculties there are more than 16 departments including Eng-lish, Economics, Education, Law, Business, Public Administration, Commerce, CS&IT, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Biotechnology & Physics departments gave their presentations to the Vice Chancellor on their specified schedule. Moreover, all the Directorates including DSA office, QEC, DASR, Planning & Development also gave comprehensive briefing about their concerned directorates. The Vice Chancellor addressed the problems of the faculties and directorates during the presentations and also gave instructions to the concerned for the possible support to the departments for making the university a leading institution of the state and among the highly ranked University of Pakistan. Moreover the Vice Chancellor also encouraged the faculty members to improve the qualifications by availing Scholarships and learning modern tools. In addition the Vice Chancellor also gave directions to HODs to ensure the implementation of HEC policy and follow the guidelines for the quality of education.

ONE DAY NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON 'SALAM TEACHER' WAS HELD AT UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI.

In October 2017. The United Nations' (UN) World Teachers' Day celebrates the teachers role in providing quality education at all levels. This enables children and adults of all ages to learn to take part in and contribute to their local communities and global society. . In The conference renowned professors, teachers of public and private sector of Pakistan and AJK participated and gave their talks on the role of teachers and how a teacher can make a difference in Pakistan and AJK educational system . The Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardazi while addressing the concluding session emphasized that a teacher is a role model for students hence shall improve himself to change the future generations. The youth today are dislocated from the society of challenges faced by the modern tools (Hand Phones & Computers). It's the Teacher who can link the students with the Norms of the society without compromising on technology and knowledge sharing.

The International Day of Peace ("Peace Day") is observed around the world each year on 21 September. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace. The International Day of Peace, sometimes unofficially known as World Peace Day, is observed annually on 21 September. It is dedicated to world peace, and specifically the absence of war and violence, such as might be occasioned by a temporary cease-fire in a combat zone for humanitarian aid access. The day was first celebrated in 1982, and is kept by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples. In 2013, for the first time, the Day was dedicated by the Secretary-General of the United Nations to peace education, the key preventive means to reduce war sustainably. The University of Kotli organized the International Day of Peace at the campus UoK on 21st September 2017. In the event all the faculty members, students of all the departments participated in the walk. Dean Faculty of Commerce Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Sajid, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Butt (Dean FSS & H) gave a short talk on the importance of Peace. Moreover, the participants also discussed Kashmir issue and the need of peace in Kashmir, Palestine and other regions of the world.

SCHOLARS OF ECONOMICS DEPTT UOK ATTENDING "THESIS WRITING SKILLS" WORKSHOP AT QAU

Department of Economics-UoK is working to promote research environment with the help of other national universities. In this regard, the department has sent 15 M.Phil. scholars to the School of economics-Quaid I Azam university, Islamabad on May 19, 2017 to at-tend one day training workshop on "How to write research articles and theses". Scholars attended the workshop and gave very positive response. The scholars were also awarded training certificates.

A DAY WITH PAKISTAN ARMY:

On October 30 2017 under the supervision of Professor Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Sajid( Dean Commerce, a group of 200 students along with faculty mem-ber ( Mr Shakeel Ahmed , Sharukh Mushtaq, Waseem Ahmed, Shahid Mir) visited Dongi Pakistan Army's Training Camp where they spent a day with Pakistan Army . The Procession was welcomed by the Brig-Rashid Saeed at the camp and he addressed the students and gave a talk on the modern strategic war tactics of Pakistan army and how Pakistan Army is fighting against terrorists in different sectors. He also motivated youth to play their part for peace and fight on social media against extremism.

During the exercise of ground operations Pakistan Army people performed their mock operations against terrorists and displayed their ability of freeing the kid-naped ones. Moreover, all the students and faculty members were also given a chance to fire with MP5 and G3 Guns . It was a memorable moment for all the students who experienced the real war battle zone and got an idea about fighting soldiers'' life .

UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI CELEBRATES SOLIDARITY DAY 2017

The University of Kotli Celebrates Kashmir Solidarity Day on 5th of February 2017 at the Conference Hall. In the event all the Deans of respective faculties, HODs, Faculty Members, Students participated to show solidarity with the People of IOK and discussed the Indian Brutalities and cruelties faced by the People of Jammu and Kashmir. The Event was moderated by the Coordinator Department of Law, Mr Umer Farooq. Moreover, in the event Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed Sajid Dean Commerce & Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Butt In-charge Dean FSS& H gave their talks on the Kashmir issue and role of youth to spread and highlight the issue on national and International Forums. Moreover, at the end of the event a symbolic solidarity chain was also formed to show solidarity with the affected people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 1st edition of University Newsletter Covers the Academic, Social, Seminars, Visits, Development Projects, Conferences, Appointments, workshops and research publications since the establishment of the University

The University Newsletter is an amazing source of information about the academic, social, developmental and other administra-tive aspects which the university has been doing since its establishment . The 1st exclu-sive edition was a fruitful edition in this re-gard which was completed by the editorial board of the Newsletter under the supervi-sion of Former Vice Chancellor (Prof. Dr. Ghulam Ghous and Dr. Sabaht Akram) .

LEADERSHIP FOR WOMEN, TRAINING WORKSHOP 2017

A lot of attention has been paid to our increasingly diverse workplace. There are multiple differences including race, gender, generations, and thinking styles. Many historical events have occurred that have cleared the way to analyze these differences of men and women in the workplace. These gender differences are likely to exist in the way men and women influence, communicate, and lead. The male and female gender has always been viewed as two unique and different sets of people. The Faculty Members of Education Department including Ms Sobia Yaseen Participated in a Two Days Training workshop on " Leadership Training for Women " held in Mirpur AJK on May 13 and 14, 2017. In this work-shop the Trainers gave a comprehensive talk on the role of women in AJK, Their Rights, Responsibilities in house and outside the house, Their Problems and how they can overcome the challenges . In the Workshop Teachers from local schools and Colleges participated.

The Department of Education Holds its 1st Board of Studies on 22 September 2017, chaired by the In-charge Dean Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities . In this meeting Dr. Batool Atta , Director Education Department UAJK , Dr. Syed Ma-khdoom Ahmed, A/P Education Department UoK, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Director QEC UoK, The Registrar UoK, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed Raja, Director Advance Studies and Research attended the meeting and gave their valu-able input on the courses offered in BS Honors and Master in Education. The board approved the Proposed courses with Minor Changes as Per HEC Guidelines.

FACULTY MEMBER OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI PARTICIPATES IN AN INTERNATION CONFERENCE

Ms Sobia Yaseen , Lecturer Department of Education Participates in Two Days National Conference on Childhood Care and Education in Pakistan. The Conference was held at Allama Iqbal Open Univer-sity, Islamabad on March 27-28 2017 . The Focus of the Conference was to discuss the Modern Trends in early Education and how in Pakistan teachers are coping with the Modern technology for improving the standard of early education. In the Confrence Representatives from Government ( Ministry of Education) , HEC Pakistan and other learned national and International scholars gave their talk on the sub-themes of the conference.

A ONE DAY SEMINAR ON HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES IN KASHMIR was held on 08-12-2017 at

ONE DAY WRITING WORKSHOP

University of Kotli. The seminar was organized by University Literary Society and Youth Forum for Kashmir. In the seminar, opposition leader Ch. Yasin , The Vice Chancellor UoK Prof.Dr.Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi , Director YFK Maria Iqbal gave talks on human rights situation in IOK.

One day writing workshop is a method of writing instruction that developed from the early work of Donald Graves, Donald Murray, and other teacher/researchers who found that coaching students to write for a variety of audi-ences and purposes was more effective than traditional writing instruction Faculty of Dept. of Economics is at-tending the Workshop on Academic Research Writing @ QAU Islamabad.

M O U S I G N I N G C E R E M O N Y B E T W E E N D E PA RT M E N T O F ECONOMICS AND SSRI

To promote economic research, MOU has been signed in July 2017 between Department of Economics UoK and Social Sciences Research Institute (SSRI), Muzaffarabad to comprehend different areas of economic research and facilitates graduates to work in the AJK on different indigenous resources. Social Sciences Research Institute, Muzaffarabad is an independent public sector agriculture research institute governed by the Federal Government, Pakistan. The institute has emerged as a centre of excellence for policy-oriented research which is well recognized and accepted among national and international academia. Cur-rently, four of the M.Phil scholars of department of economics are working on the research thesis by the collaboration of SSRI.

A SEMINAR ON ' NATURAL RESOURCE EXPLOITATION & ITS IMPACT ON ECONOMY OF AJK

The concept of economic growth is one which has attracted the interest and focus of researchers worldwide. Weil (2013, p. 12) refers to economic growth as a "compelling topic" and a rapidly expanding field, based on the significant increase in the amount of research on this topic. Bolton and Khaw (2006, p.1) state that economic growth is "the most fundamental indicator of an economy's health". Economic growth is a major field of study, due to the significant impact it has on the society in general, as well as the various units that make up the society. This essay has examined both the positive and negative effects of economic growth on society . The Seminar was held in June 2017 at the University of Kotli, organized by the Department of Economics

ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON "STATISTICAL PACKAGES OF SOCIAL SCIENCES "SPSS"

The Department of Economics has organized a One Day Work-shop on "Statistical Packages of Social Sciences "SPSS" for Faculty Members/ M.Phil./ Ph.D. Scholars of the Department on 17 July 2017. Mr. Muhammad Hussain, Assistant Librarian , Director Social Sciences & Research Institute Muzaffarabad AJK were the Resource Persons of the workshop.

The cafeteria is on-campus facility to university students which has separate halls for both male and female students. One Week Training Workshop on English Language and Trends in Linguistics including Lan-guage Documentation & Research Methodology was hosted by University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Collaboration with San Jose State University USA, at the Serena Hotel Islamabad. Mr Shahid Hussain Mir Lecturer Department of English, University of Kotli participated in the workshop. In this workshop scholars from UAJK, Air University Islamabad & Foundation University faculty members, scholars and researchers participated to discuss language related issues. This workshop was held in April 2017.

PRIME INISTER OF AZAD JAMMU AND KASHMIR VISITS THE UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI IN MARCH 2017 FOR LAPTOP DISTRIBUTION.

The Meeting was chaired by the Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi .The Academic Council is the academic body of the university and has the power to lay down proper procedures for instructions, research and examination and to regulate and promote the academic life of the University constituent colleges and Affiliated Colleges. In the meeting all HODs, Deans, The Registrar UoK participated to discuss the Board of Studies, Scheme of Studies of various Master, BS and M.Phil. Programs. In the meeting the Vice Chancellor emphasized on the quality of education in the university and as per guidelines of HEC. Moreover, proposed minutes of board of faculties and scheme of studies for sciences and arts have been discussed and approved by the Academic Council members.

Prime Minister's Laptops Scheme is for Talented Students with the main objective of this scheme is an attempt to enhance the scope of research and quality education in the country and increase the access to information technology. Meeting all the mentioned objectives PM AJK visits the UoK and distributes the Laptops to PhD, M.Phil., Master and BS Students of various disciplines who were fulfilling the criteria.

LECTURE ON IQBAL’S WISDOM BY SAHIBZADA SULTAN AHMAD ALI ON MAY 08 2017 AT UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI

Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali sb delivered special lecture on “Iqbal’s Wisdom: A Way Forward for Young Generation” in University of Kotli, Azad Jammu & Kashmir.

Moreover , in the lecturer Sahibzada Sultan Ahmad Ali also emphasized the youth of the region to follow the principles of Islam and guidelines and teachings of Iqbal. Moreover, Mr. Ahmed Ali added that For any meaningful discussion on Iqbal's educational philosophy it is essential that we should first try to understand his views on man's nature, and his ultimate destiny. According to Iqbal, the "essential nature of man, then, consists in will, and not intellect or understanding".[1] He re-gards human will as "a germ of infinite power, the gradual enfoldment of which must be the object of all human activity".[2] In his view, "a strong will in a strong body is the ethical ideal of is Islam".[3] Criticizing the educational system of his times he says very emphatically moreover, Sahibzada Sultan also discussed Iqbal’s Philosophy of Science for Muslims and said that Science and technology, therefore, assume an extremely important place in Iqbal's philosophy of education. He regards the scientific observer of Nature as a kind of mystic seeker in the act of prayer; because scientific observation of Nature keeps us in close contact with the behavior of Reality

While addressing the faculty the Former Vice Chancellor encouraged the faculty to continue their work for the quality education and uplift of academic life in the region. He also thanked all the faculty who worked day and night during the past three years of the University .The farewell dinner was hosted on 18-08-2017.

·C++ TRAINING WORKSHOP 2017C++ is so complex, if someone has mastered it, everything else looks trivial by comparison (except maybe garbage collection). And one will learn a fair amount about compilers (or maybe the reverse is true: knowing about compilers helps one to learn C++). . C++ is a highly portable language and is often the language of choice for multi-device, multi-platform app development. C++ is an ob-ject-oriented programming language and includes clas-ses, inheritance, polymorphism, data abstraction and encapsulation. Thus, workshop provided a platform for the faculty & students choosing programming as their career.In the Month of February 2017 Department of CS and IT organized a training workshop for the faculty members and students to make them aware of C++ and its practical implications in field of IT. This training workshop was hosted by CS & IT Department UoK. The Guest Speaker of the workshop was Mr Mu-hammad Zaffar Siddiqui who delivered a very inspiring lecture on the topic.

UGAT TEST 2017 AT UoK

University of Kotli is a newly established university but since its establishment in 2014 it is focusing on quality of education and promot-ing international standard education in the region. In February 2017 the University of Kotli conducts UGAT test for the admissions in various degree programs including M.A, MPhil and Ph.D. in different disciplines of Science and Arts.

ONE DAY DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING FOR THE STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF KOTLI

Emergency management is the organization and management of resources and responsibilities for dealing with all humanitarian aspects of emergencies—preparedness, response, and recovery—in order to reduce the harmful effects of all hazards, including disasters. Often interchanged with disaster management, it is not be confused with it. The World Health Organization defines an emergency as the state in which nor-mal procedures are interrupted, and immediate measures need to be taken to prevent that state turning into a disaster. Thus, emergency management is crucial to avoid the disruption transforming into a disaster, which is harder to recover from . One Day Training workshop to achieve the mentioned goals was organized at the University of Kotli with collaboration to KIIR Islamabd. The Training workshop was coordinated by Mr Sha-hid Mir , Lecturer Department of English.

ONE DAY SEMINAR ON VIRTUAL SECURITY IN APRIL 2017 AT UoK

On November 9 , 2017 faculty of Social Sciences organizes Iqbal Day seminar at the conference hall of the University of Kotli. The seminar was chaired by the Vice Chancellor University of Kotli ( Prof. Dr. Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi) . In this seminar all the Deans, Directors, HODs, Faculty members of the university participated. Moreover, students of the various departments including sciences and arts gave their short talks on the life of Iqbal. A Biographical documentary was also played on the life of Dr Allama Iqbal . The Honorable Vice Chancellor Addressed the audience and emphasized the youth to follow the philosophy of Iqbal for success and progress . Moreover, Dean Social Sciences Dr, Iftikhar Butt & Dr, Syed Asad Hussain Shah ( Chairman Bio-Technology ) also gave their talks on the life of Allama Iqbal and discussed the themes in the poetry of Iqbal which can help Muslim Youth to overcome the challenges of current Era.

Virtualization describes construct and direction of practical machines as the calm of hardware and package. The construct of computing machine resources such as an operating system, a waiter, an application, or a storage device is represented in practical machines. With the aid of virtualization, even a peculiar physical resource be able to look as resource supplying multiple features ( which is called as emulation ) . In this re-gard an awareness seminar was organized by the Department of CS& IT to make the students aware with Virtual security. The Directorate of Sports scheduled the events of Volleyball, Badminton and Table Tennis on 3rd, 4th &5th of August 2017.These events were planned to celebrate the 70th Independence Day of Pakistan. All major universities of AJ&K participated. The volleyball event was conducted in university campus, honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Doctor Ghulam Ghous was the chief Guest. University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir Muzzaffarad secured the victory title by defeating Mirpur University of Science and Technology. The events of Table Tennis and badminton were conducted at city community hall all these games were played on knock out basis. In Table Tennis event MUST University was the winner, University of Azad Jammu &Kashmir Muzzaffarad was at runners up position and University of Kotli AJ&K managed to secure the bronze medal. Dean Faculty of commerce Professor Doctor Mushtaq Sajid was the chief guest of the closing ceremony of Independence Day sports activities, He appreci-ated and welcomed the respected participants and gave assurance that the University of Kotli AJ&K would play its best role in the promo-tion of sports.

They distributed prizes among position holders and spoke about the importance of sports in society. Second and mega closing ceremony of outdoor events (Cricket & Football) was conducted at Hawai Jahaz ground, Honorable Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi was the chief guest. Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dean Faculty of Administrative Sciences, and Treasurer also participated in the ceremony. The third and final closing ceremony was held at the University Campus lawn on Finals of volleyball event, Director Student Affairs being the Chief Guest. In the month of September 2017 the University of Pooch Rawalakot organized an all AJK intervarsity volley Ball championship. The volley Ball team of UOK had participated in that auspicious event. Sociotechnical systems (STS) in organizational development is an approach to complex organizational work design that recognizes the interaction between peo-ple and technology in workplaces. The term also refers to the interaction between society's complex infrastructures and human behavior. . The Department of Computer Sciences focus to achieve the maximum objects set under the project of Soci-Tech and in this regard depart-ment launched STS project to utilize the maximum potential os students and offer services to people in the society of AJK and Pakistan in the field of IT. UNIVERSITY LITERARY SOCIETY (ULS)

On the Direction of The Vice Chancellor Dr. Dilnawaz Ahmad Gardezi The Directorate of Students’ Affairs established University Literary Society (ULS) . Mr Shahid Hussain Mir Lecturer English has been appointed as convener of ULS to monitor the activities of the ULS. The representative body of ULS has been constituted through holding election which includes Rifat ul Nisa as President and Mr Amjad Islam Amjad as 1st General Secretary of the society. . The society will engage the students of University in creative literary activities like Dramatics, Poetry writing, poems , book writing, magazine and also promoting reading culture in the University of Kotli. The Society will work under the Directorate of Students’ affairs .
