3 MARCH/APRIL 2016
Brothers and Sisters: These past 2 years as President have gone by quickly. I have honestly enjoyed the experience and want to take this opportunity to thank all the broth-ers and sisters of Brumidi for supporting the lodge these past 2 years. I am especially proud of what we accomplished in
2014 – strengthening our Lodge for the future by becoming coed. Brumidi was always a strong lodge, and now with the inclusion of both men and women we have strengthened our foundation that will enable us to grow into the future. I thank you all for supporting this change and enabling us to bring it to fruition. Income is always a top priority at Brumidi and over the past 2 years we have brought in several major sources that will offset our ex-penses as we move forward. We have successfully signed a new tenant for the cell tower. As a result of negotiations with Verizon, we were able to achieve over $50,000 in cash and equipment upgrades to the building- all of which will help us with upkeep for this aging facility. The total rent for the 2 tenants will pay over 90% of our real estate tax obligation – a big burden that will be lifted from the lodge. In addition, in 2014 we negotiated a multi-year contract for monthly western dances with the Long Island Western Dance Association that brings in more than $15,000 per year. I want to thank all those officers and directors who served in my administration – your dedication and hard work are greatly appreci-ated. Thanks to my wife Laura for standing by my side as first lady and also serving as recording secretary – a tough and demanding job in our lodge. Thanks to IPP Bob Savino for his help and guidance these past 2 years – a president needs the support and experience of his IPP and I certainly appreciated Bob’s help and guidance. Special thanks to 3 people who were not council officers, but stepped up and contributed to the success of the lodge by doing jobs we all take for granted and spending countless hours at the Lodge; Sal Picone – my House Chair, Frank Montuori – my Kitchen Chair, and Danny Cicale – my Office Manager. In March we will install a new President and Council – I know you will support Daniel and his Council as we move forward and continue to build on the strong foundation we fortified during these past 2 years. Thank You and God Bless. Immediate Past President
Ciro
President’s Message Brothers and Sisters, "Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they do when they stick together." ~ Verna M. Kelly No words can truly express how deeply touched and honored I am to have the trust and support of my
Lodge Brothers and Sisters as I begin this next chapter as your Presi-dent. How humbling it is to even say that, I am your next President, because I stand on the shoulders of our Fore Brothers and Sisters who had the foresight, dedication and drive to come together and build what we enjoy today, the Constantino Brumidi Lodge. First, I would be remiss if I did not congratulate ALL the outgoing Officers for their dedication and hard work. I also want to give a spe-cial Thank You to President Ciro and First Lady Laura for ALL the time they spent away from home and their family over the past two years. President Ciro, his Officers and supporters helped move the Lodge into the 21st Century by becoming co-ed and he helped solidify the new cell tower contract. Sister Laura was not only the Lodges First Lady but also served as our Recording Secretary. Even if you missed the meeting you were always able to get the full scope of the meeting in the minutes at the next meeting. I wish both of you the very best and much happiness with the grandchildren! You have a dynamic new Executive Board and Council of Officers that are ready to step into their roles. I am PROUD to be serving with them and look forward to bringing our Lodge into the future. We have many exciting new things in store. But I as your President along with all the Officers are only effective if we have the support and dedication of YOU the membership. It will take ALL of us sticking together, working together and supporting each other to maintain OUR Lodge. "For a chain is only as strong as its weakest link." I know that we can be strong enough to hold up not only the Lodge but a bridge if we stand TOGETHER! A bee colony is able to produce sweet honey because all the bees work together for one common goal. I welcome all suggestions that come with solutions and remedies. Keep in your Prayers our Brothers & Sisters who are sick; our de-ceased members; and ALL the Service men and women that protect us each and every day here and abroad. God Bless, In Unity, President Daniel

HERITAGE TEASE: What's believed to be the oldest Good Friday procession in Italy, Processione del Cristo Morto il Venerdì Santo, is in Chieti in the Abruzzo region. This procession with Selecchi's Miserere played by 100 violins is said to be most moving. What do you know about Easter celebrations & history of the city or region where your heritage originated . . . Are you ready to share?
