Brothers and Sisters:
Felice Anno Nuovo Buona Fortuna Buon Anno Nuovo "Take a leap of faith and begin this wondrous New Year by believing. Believe in yourself. And believe that there is a loving Source - a Sower of Dreams - just waiting to be
asked to help you make your dreams come true." ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach As I reflect back on the past year, I see ALL the wondrous things we can accomplish TOGETHER. From all our great and fun events, to our growing membership, to your heartfelt generosity that enables us as a Lodge to be so Charitable and giving to those less fortunate than us and your Fraternalism. "Let our New Year's resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word." ~ Goran Persson From the joy and wonder in ALL the children and families that attend our Breakfast with Santa, to the 'Thank you' notes we get in return from the nuns, various charities, scholarship recipients and needy families when we make a donation or provide a gift, is what we are all about. Being able to maintain and improve upon our building, that our Fore Brothers and Sisters left for us, is what we are all about. Being there for each other, not only in times of happiness, but in times of sickness, loss and to lend a helping hand, is what we are all about. Those of us who put in endless hours of volunteering to keep the building going, to attending meetings, to running events, to the behind the scene operations that occur in the office, is what we are all about. That is what makes being part of the Constantino Brumidi Lodge #2211, Sons (and Daughters) of Italy in America, and the shar-ing of our Culture and Heritage so SPECIAL and unique. And while we continue to preserve, promote and share our Culture and Heritage that we ALL love so deeply, let us continue to be open to new ideas, growth and a future that we may leave to the next generation. On a personal note I would like to THANK ALL the Officers and Members for the Presidents Christmas Gift. I am truly touched by your generosity! It was my decision to not take the Gift for myself but donate it all to those less fortunate than us. I chose two (2)
charities and earmark the money for certain causes that have a spe-cial meaning to me. Half of the money went to Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, a Catholic Mission Order and the money was earmarked to go to South Sudan to help with blindness prevention and rehabilita-tion. The other half of the money went to h2 Empower, a non-for-profit that focuses on improving education and sustainability in Africa, specifically Ethiopia and Burundi. The money was earmarked to go to improving the structure of the one-room classrooms and protecting the children in the rural regions. There are so many ways to get more involved in OUR Lodge; consider taking a position on the Lodge Officers, Directors and/or Catering Board(s), chair or co-chair an event, help sell tickets, help in the kitchen, with our building repairs or at Vegas, give input, ideas and/or suggestions to future events and ALWAYS share with others how GREAT of a Lodge we have. "Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a Brand new ending." ~ Carl Bard My wish for you, Brothers and Sisters and our Lodge is that this New Year, 2017 brings a peace-filled life, togetherness, good health, prosperity, and a new sense of wonder. May the true Spirit and Love of St. Valentine and his Angels fill your heart, not only for the day, but for the whole year through. "Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Felice San Valentino Buon San Valentino See you ALL at the next General Meeting, Lodge function/event or reach out to me, if you wish to talk, have a question or con-cern. Always, keep in your prayers our Brothers and Sisters who are sick; our deceased members; and ALL the Service men and women that protect and keep us safe each and every day, here and abroad. As well as our police, fire and EMS who put their lives on the line each day to help us when we are in need. God Bless, In Unity,
Daniel
