Admission for this event is $18 Conservancy members, $23 adults, $7.50 children ages 3 - 12. Doors open 7:30 p.m. This concert cannot be made part of a subscription series.

Billy Strings & Don JulinThis duo plays American string band music with the energy level of an extreme sport. Haunting Appalachian songs, righteous gospel standards, and blazing bluegrass instrumentals honor the musical traditions of Doc Watson, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, and Jimmy Martin. This is your granddaddy’s bluegrass, delivered with the pedal-to-the-metal intensity of a moonshine runner.

Saturday, February 7, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

Mountain HeartMountain Heart’s musical virtuosity, unmatched energy, and keen sense of entertainment have helped them forge a unique sound and stage show that appeals to broad musical tastes. It is one of the most highly awarded ensembles ever assembled and has appeared at the Grand Ole Opry more than 125 times.

Admission for this event is $17 Conservancy members, $22 adults, $7.50 children ages 3 - 12. This concert cannot be made part of a subscription series.

Friday, February 20, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

Mississippi Heat The Chicago Sun Times has called this blues group “quite simply the hottest band in Chicago.” For more than 20 years, the band has followed the unwavering vision of bandleader and composer Pierre Lacocque. Heat marries the golden sounds of 1950s Chicago Blues greats—think Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Jimmy Rogers—with a preference for writing original music.

The Outside Track A consummate blend of skill, talent, flair and intensity, The Outside Track is one of the top Celtic acts in the world. Hailing from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton, its five members are united by a love of traditional music and a commitment to creating new music on this as a foundation. Recently joined by acclaimed singer Aoife Scott, the next generation of the legendary Black Family from Ireland, The Outside Track blends fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, whistle, step-dance and vocals with breathtaking vitality.

Friday, March 20, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

Mouths of BabesMouths of Babes is Ty Greenstein (of Girlyman) and Ingrid Elizabeth (of Coyote Grace). This tender tomboy and rough-and-tumble lady come together to melt hearts and shake souls with undeniable chemistry and a truly unexpected heralding of wisdom. Mouths of Babes’ sound is equal parts celebration and blues, folk and soul, salve and anthem—an invitation to love this life, to sing your sob story and end it with a smile.

Saturday, March 28, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

Tall Heights and DarlingsideTall Heights is captivating vocal harmonies that drive a folk-inspired accompaniment of cello and acoustic guitar. Their powerful, intimate recordings and performances have fueled a burning demand for this Boston-based duo. Darlingside features four distinct voices whose tightly-arranged tunes draw from the unexpected, including strains of bluegrass, classical, and even barbershop. Accompanied by an arsenal of classical strings, guitars, mandolin, and percussion, Darlingside swaps instruments from song to song and offers a sound that defies standard genre classifications.

Friday, April 24, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

ComasComas are a multinational quartet bridging the gap between tradition and innovation, the New World and the Old, and energetic performance and tasteful repertoire. They are a musical force of nature juxtaposing the music of Ireland with that of continental Europe and North America. With four members living in three different countries and drawing influence from their folk traditions as well as their own unique approaches to composition and variation, Comas put on a show like no other band in Irish music today.

Friday, May 1, 8 p.m., Happy Days Lodge

Front CountrySince forming in 2011, Front Country has worked to expand their repertoire and push the boundaries of bluegrass. They have won the Rockygrass band competition in Colorado and followed up with a win at Telluride, becoming just the third band in history to win both contests. Front Country blend everything from high-lonesome mountain music to new-wave power pop, newgrass picking, oldgrass harmonies, and just plain glorious musicality. This is Americana at its best: music with deep roots and wide-ranging vision.

Paul Bogard: The End of NightA starry night is one of nature’s most magical wonders. Yet in our artificially lit world, three-quarters of Americans’ eyes never switch to night vision and most of us no longer experience true darkness. Paul Bogard is the author of The End of Night: Searching for Natural Darkness in an Age of Artificial Light. Through his observation and study, Bogard restores our awareness of the spectacularly primal, wildly dark night sky and how it has influenced the human experience in everything from science to art. Bogard takes us on a deeply panoramic tour of the night, from its brightest spots to the darkest skies we have left.
