In response to the recent developments surrounding COVID-19,the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) is temporarilysuspending in-person requirements for services provided by theagency. In accordance with Governor Kemp’s recommendation,the GDOL is providing online access to unemployment services,partial claim access for employers, and reemployment services.

Employers are required to file partial claims on behalf of theiremployees whenever it is necessary to temporarily reduce workhours or there is no work available for a short period. Anyemployer found to be in violation of this rule will be required toreimburse GDOL for the full amount of unemployment insurancebenefits paid to the employee.
Due to an extremely high volume of unemployment claims filed as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak,individuals may experience a delay in requesting weekly benefit payments. If you are having difficultyclaiming your weekly benefits, please contact your local career center. Please note that you can file aclaim online 24 hours per day.

Economic Injury Disaster Loan ProgramSmall business owners in all U.S. states and territories are currentlyeligible to apply for a low-interest loan due to Coronavirus(COVID-19). The SBA will work directly with state Governors toprovide targeted, low-interest loans to small businesses and non-profits that have been severely impacted by the Coronavirus(COVID-19). The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan programprovides small businesses with working capital loans of up to $2million that can provide vital economic support to small businessesto help overcome the temporary loss of revenue they areexperiencing.

How to get access to approved lending partners? The SmallBusiness Administration has developed Lender Match, a freeonline referral tool that connects small businesses withparticipating SBA-approved lenders within 48 hours.
The 7(a) Program offers loan amounts up to $5,000,000 and is anall-inclusive loan program deployed by lending partners foreligible small businesses within the U.S. States and its territories.
The Express Loan program provides loans up to $350,000 for nomore than 7 years with an option to revolve. There is a turnaroundtime of 36 hours for approval or denial of a completed application.
The Microloan program involves lends through nonprofitorganizations in under-served markets. Use of loan proceedsincludes working capital, supplies, machinery/equipment. Themaximum loan is $50,000 with an average loan size of $14,000.
Payroll Tax CreditsSmall and mid-sized employers canstart taking advantage of two newrefundable payroll tax credits aimed atimmediately reimbursing them, dollarfor dollar, for the cost of providingCoronavirus-related leave to theiremployees.
For COVID-19-related reasons,employees will be able to receive up to80 hours of paid sick leave andexpanded paid child care leave whenemployees’ children’s schools are closedor child care providers are unavailable.Health insurance costs are included inthe credit. Learn more, here.
