Excerpt from the Sermon Journal, Monday, August 7, 2017Written by Pastor Tom Harrison

It is one thing to be a spectator but something entirely different when we actually get into

the game. The Book of James insists on action. The book in the New Testament following the

four Gospels is “The Actions of the Apostles.” Some doctrines and beliefs are noteworthy in “Acts” but most of the

book tells the story of how God acted and the responses that followed. Actions are very important. We are what we do. James insists that believers don’t just hear the Word, but we are to obey it. As Bob Goff wrote, “Love Does.” We also must affirm nobody will be perfect in their actions. We all sin, even after conversion. Yet, our failures do not negate the importance of staying in the game.

Asbury Satellite Opportunity for PrayerAs we launch our new satellite congregation in Midtown Tulsa, we are deliberately seeking God and asking Him to use the satellite congregation to help reach new people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You are invited to come to the new satellite location (4803 S. Lewis Ave.) for a time of corporate prayer.

• Tuesdays- 7-8 am • Thursdays- 12-1 pm • Thursdays- 6-7 pm

Come and go as you are able. Prayer guides will be available onsite. Enter through the stained-glass doors on the east side of the building.

This year’s Day of Service will be like no other!All sites will offer devotionals and some kind of worship. Also, depending on the site, lunch will be barbecue, grilled hamburgers or boxed lunches. Come make new friends and serve while having fun! We want to create small group connections through this serving opportunity.
