Third Sunday of Easter From Father Jim “But Peter and the apostles said in reply, ‘We must obey God rather than men. The God of our ancestors raised Jesus, though you had him killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him at his right hand as leader and savior to grant Israel repentance and forgiveness of sins. We are witnesses of these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.” When people wonder how to get started in learning about the Catholic Church, or to read the bible, the clearest answer is found in this or any other sermon of St. Peter and St. Paul in the Acts of the Apostles. These teachings from the bible introduce us to Jesus Christ and His saving mission. Because of my encounter with Jesus through the announcement of Peter, I am moved to learn more as He accompanies me. The talks summarize what is most important – Jesus is Savior, He died and rose, and has been glorified. I suggest that you look at similar teachings, which will provide the foundation of this great time of Easter. Look at the Acts of the Apostles chapters 2, 3, 4, 9, 19. These are called the kerygm, or the announcing sermons of Peter and Paul. ICS SPRING MUSICAL, “HONK! JR.” The ICS production of “Honk! Jr” performances are May 10 th at 7:00pm, May 11 th and 12 th at 2:00pm in the ICS gym. Admission is FREE! Make sure to come out to see our very talented performers in this funny and heartwarming musical tale of “The Ugly Duckling!” OUTREACH: "Thanks" those Parishioners who send in their Redner's Grocery Receipts. We need the 'Full Receipt’ to include the part that shows “Today's 1% Save A Tape Total.” Each receipt is counted using the sum found in this section. Without this information we cannot use the receipt. Outreach earns 1% of your purchase total. This money provides help to people in need. LITURGY

Mrs. Holly TarbuttonReadings for next week:

Fourth Sunday of EasterFirst Reading: Acts 13:14, 43-52Paul and Barnabas addressed many people, and large crowds gathered to hear them. Some of the Jews became jealous, and argued with whatever Paul said. But Paul and Barnabas continued preaching their message of salvation and everlasting life, until they were eventually forced to leave the town.

Second Reading: Revelation 7:9, 14b-17John saw a vision of many people surrounding a throne and the Lamb. One of the elders told him these were the people who had survived great periods of trial, but maintained strong faith in God. Now they would receive eternal protection and comfort from God as reward for their loyalty.

Gospel: John 10:27-30Jesus states that his sheep know his voice and follow him, and will receive eternal life. Jesus also says that no one can snatch his followers away, because God is greater than anyone who might try, and Jesus is one with God.
