Message from the Campus Director

Shri. Nitin Sridhar, Laxmi Vidhyapeeth

Education and research is a continuing, an unending and inter-related concept that goes hand in hand all

around the globe. Global demands in improving individual and academic competence predict the

development of individual persona. In tune with this, the educators are required to continuously innovate

and contribute for improving the technologies for the benefit of the society. The traditional way of Indian

system deals with issues of theory, policy and practice. National conferences have become a lifeline to

information, opportunities and pave a platform for exchanging the ideas.

On behalf of Gajera Trust, I welcome you all to this national conference and congratulate each and

everyone involved in the conference. I hope this conference will function as an eye opener for all

knowledge seekers to contribute towards the development in their respective field.

I convey my best wishes for your paper presentation.

Keynotes from Director

Dr. Basavaraj Patil, Ph.D. (IIT-M)

Research Tools for Engineering Problems

Dr. Basavaraj Patil, Ph.D. (IIT-M), [email protected]

One cannot imagine the life without light, electricity, automobile, communication, home etc. Scientists

and engineers have changed the world by their contribution with continuous research and innovation.

Some of the tools used by them are briefly discussed in this article.

Innovation:

The word “innovation” is used in media and business world inconsistently. Innovation “in-nova-tion”

literally means “in a new way.” Innovation can be defined as the successful conversion of new concepts

and knowledge into new products, services, or processes that deliver new customer value in the

marketplace. In its purest sense, “invention“ can be defined as the creation of a product or introduction of

a process for the first time. “Innovation,” on the other hand, occurs if someone improves on or makes a

significant contribution to an existing product, process or service.

Product innovation: Innovative products are those that replace or build on current offerings; they provide

new features or other advantages that allow users to operate more efficiently and/or less expensively.

Process innovation: Process innovation is finding better ways to do the job. Innovation is important for

competitiveness and long-term success, and the processes related to manufacturing and delivering the

product are where changes can continue to offer greater value to customers.

Business model innovation: The need for business model innovation is often driven by the increasing

need for agility in business structure, and this is in turn driven by the increasing speed of change in the

market.

Research:

Research is an often-misused term, its usage in everyday language totally different from the strict

scientific meaning. Often, we will talk about conducting internet research or say that we are researching

in the library. It is grammatically correct grammatically, but in science, it gives a misleading impression.

The correct and most common term used in science is that we are conducting a literature survey. The

literature survey and literature review also have different meanings. A literature review should be done by

an expert in the domain.

In research, we start with a hypothesis that explains a phenomenon. The researcher then conducts

experiments to prove that the hypothesis is correct. Not all the time the result proves that the hypothesis is

correct.

Design of Experiments:

Design of Experiments (DOE) is a branch of applied statistics that deals with planning, conducting, analyzing

and interpreting controlled tests to evaluate the factors that control the value of a parameter or group of

parameters.

A strategically planned and executed experiment may provide a great deal of information about the effect on a

response variable due to one or more factors.

A well–performed experiment may provide answers to questions like a) What are the key factors in a process;

At what settings would the process deliver acceptable performance? b) What are the key, main and interaction

effects in the process? c) What settings would bring about less variation in the output? Analysis of Mean

(ANOM) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) are the major tools applied to get the answer to these questions

Taguchi Methods:

Taguchi methods are statistical methods developed by Genichi Taguchi originally to improve the quality of

manufactured process and now finds application in analysing engineering, biotechnology, marketing and

advertising processes.

Soft Computing Techniques:

Real world problems have to deal with systems which are non-linear, transient in nature with uncertainty

and high complexity. The computing of such systems is a study of algorithmic processes which describe

and transform information: their theory, analysis, design, efficiency, implementation, and application.

Conventional computing/Hard computing requires exact mathematical model and lot of computation time.

The soft computing techniques are intelligent, possess the human-like expertise and can adapt to the

changing environment, can be used effectively and efficiently.

Numerous Soft Computing-based techniques are available for different domains. Soft Computing

Techniques comprises of core methodologies: Fuzzy Systems, including Fuzzy Logic; Evolutionary

Computation, including Genetic Algorithms; Artificial Neural Networks, including Neural Computing;

Machine Learning; and Probabilistic Reasoning.Soft Computing has become one of the most important

tools applied to numerous engineering areas such as Aircraft, Communication networks, computer

science, power systems and control applications.

Simulation Techniques:

A numerical simulation is a calculation that runs on a computer following a program that implements a

mathematical model for a physical system. Numerical simulations are required to study the behaviour of

systems whose mathematical models are too complex and huge in volume to provide analytical solutions.

The techniques are available in the form of Finite Element Method, Finite Difference Method and Finite

Volume Method.

FDM is simpler than FEM which requires less computational power but is also less accurate in some

cases where higher-order accuracy is required. FEM permit to get a higher order of accuracy but requires

more computational power. FEM is very well developed, the results are validated and can be used in

almost all the engineering problems. FVM, like FEM, has a lot of established and theoretically proven

subroutines and is very efficient in solving fluid flow problems

Applications of Finite-element method: All kinds of structural analysis, heat transfer, chemical

engineering, electrostatics, magnetostatics, low-frequency electromagnetics, frequency-domain high-

frequency electromagnetic waves, multi-physics, and computational fluid dynamics.

Applications of Finite-difference method: Weather calculations, astrophysics, seismology, and heat

transfer.

Applications of Finite-volume method: Computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and chemical

engineering.

All the above tools (FEM, FDM and FVM) give approximate solutions to the defined. The Numerical

method gives a quick approximate solution to any complicated problem as shown in the above Fig. 1. It is

very useful if we don’t know the exact solution. With the numerical method, the solution can be obtained

for any complicated shape which is not possible by exact solution as shown in Fig. 2.

Fig.1 Exact solution and the numerical solution.

Fig. 2. Approximate solution to unknown problem.

FEM can be used to solve any complicated 3D, nonlinear, transient problem like heat transfer in engine,

extrusion of hot and cold metals etc. Let us see one example applied to metal forming problem.

Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) is one of the effective methods of obtaining materials with high

strength and toughness. These properties are developed by strain hardening due to high deformation. In

ECAP, a specimen is pressed through a die that contains two channels with equal cross-section meeting at

an angle 2 . Because the cross-section of the specimen remains the same during extrusion, the process

can be repeated until the accumulated deformation reaches a desired level. High strain can be achieved

with multiple passes due to its cumulative nature. The stress and strain distribution can be obtained using

a FEM tool. The simulation of the process is shown in the Fig. 3.

Any such complicated problems can be solved by FEM tools. Many commercial and open source

software are available to solve such problems.

Fig. 3: Finite Element Simulation of Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) a metal forming process.

Conclusion:

The advancement in computing technology has made the work of engineer easy. Unlike earlier he can

solve any complicated problem in a very short time. However, understanding the tools and using them at

appropriately is very important. Using the tools without understanding the underlying technology /

science will lead to erroneous, rather wrong solutions. Thus an engineer should understand all the tools

thoroughly before using.

Abstract— The automobile vehicles are the major source of the air pollution and cause the

environmental problems like Global Warming, Greenhouse gases and the acid rain. The addition of an

alternative fuel like gaseous fuel with gasoline in the engine is one of the possible approaches for

reducing this problem because of its constituent influences on engine emission characteristics.(1)

The

main sources of renewable energy in India are biomass, biogas, solar, wind and hydro power. Biogas is

an attractive source of energy for rural areas. (2)

The aim is to present the potential role of biogas as an

alternative fuel. There is abundance of raw material for producing biogas. Also municipal sewage can

be use for this purpose. Biogas is produced from the process of anaerobic digestion of wet organic

waste, such as cattle and pig slurries, food wastes and biomass. There is growing interest in the use of

biogas as a fuel for automobile vehicles. Some of the reasons behind this are the increasing regulation

and taxes on waste disposal, fuel crisis, an increasing need for renewable fuel sources, measures to

improve local air quality and the need for clean transport fuels in urban areas. Through detail literature

survey, the challenges to the gasoline fuel and biogas are studied and it is found that biogas is an

effective method for reducing CO2, CO, HC and NOx emission

Abstract--In the existing system, details of the students and staffs are recorded and entered manually. So, this

process of manually recording and entering takes long time, with separate workers maintaining the database. All

the college particulars are stored via separate databases which will increase time, money etc. In the above process

it is very difficult to maintain the fees detail and accounting information of students in proper way. Our project is

about automation & college system which contains several modules. We here are basically dealing with the

student welfare module, faculty module and admin module. Presently to maintain data about different aspects,

the college is using manual process i.e., using ledgers and books. Now the college needs a computerized or

advanced environment where it will be easy for storing data regarding students, faculties, schedules and so on.

The system utilizes the powerful database management, data retrieval and data manipulation. It provides more

ease for managing the data than manually maintaining in the documents and is useful for easy user interface.

Abstract— We present a radix – 4 butterfly element that reduces the power dissipation, leakage current and PDP

in carry save adders. The improvements are achieved by employing the ELECTRON based approach at transistor

level. Spice simulations for 32nm technology are obtained with the power supply voltage of 1.2V for BSIM

model. Radix – 4 butterfly elements is faster than the radix – 2 butterfly elements as the number of multipliers are

less. Simulation results reveal that radix – 4 butterfly element gives better performance results than the radix – 2

butterfly element. The proposed approach not only saves the leakage power but also saves the state in sleep

mode. In this paper, we compared ELECTRON approach with all the conventional approaches and the results

revealed that our approach is 18 ~ 20% power efficient and 32% leakage efficient than the previous approaches.

Abstract— Lean has emerged as a key aspect of interest to manufacturing industries around the world.

Manufacturing industries of all types: small, medium and large applying lean practices and are experiencing the

benefits of improvement in quality, productivity and customer service. Lean manufacturing (LM) was introduced

in an organization to focus on elimination of waste and perform continuous improvement. A primary feature of

LM is; how it uses demand to pull items into inventory and through the manufacturing process. Lean attempts to

Sequence these items on flow lines to maximize resource utilization. It has also been observed that the lean

practices are not able to penetrate effectively in Indian context. This arise a strong need to explore the causal and

effect factors incorporated in the framework to enhance the adoption level of lean. This study utilises hybrid

multi criteria decision making technique to identify the causal relationship among the factors included in the

framework. The outcome of the study will be equally important for researchers and practitioners.

Abstract : In order to make engine as efficient as possible, automakers are resorting to turbocharge their engines,

but a new kind of turbocharger is on the way that could change the game. ― However, to maintain high

performance with a downsized engine, car manufacturers generally use an exhaust- driven turbocharger, which is

bit of costly. So, there is a way to increase performance of low capacity four stroke petrol engine is ― electric

turbocharger‖. Electric turbocharger is basically runs on normal 9v- 12v battery at higher rate of rpm. While the

typical turbochargers runs on exhaust gas which produce more heat and engine become hot. So, electric

turbocharger does not produce that much amount of heat which is the key point of this project. Electric

turbocharger is increases the compression ratio of an engine and also increases the breathing capacity of an

engine. Electric turbocharger reduces the pollution and increases the emission of mixture of fuel and air. As a

demand of new efficient and eco friendly engines is incrementing new technologies are developing. Due to the

rich air fuel mixture combustion emission will increase hence by turbo charging the engine more power can be

obtained with low emission. In this paper review on various application of turbo charging and super charging

technology is made. The behaviour of IC engine with application of turbo/super charger and need of turbo/super

charger installation is studied. Keywords Turbocharger, Supercharger, Exhaust gas recovery, Inter cooler.

Abstract— In the paper describe about performance of concrete incorporating copper slag as fine aggregate and

recycled aggregate as coarse aggregate. Many countries want to instant and rapidly growth in the construction

industry which involves the use of natural resources for the development of the infrastructure. Rapid increase in

construction activities leads to hiking awareness of conventional construction materials. The river deposits are the

most common source of fine aggregate. Now-a-days the natural river sand has become scarce and very costly.

The use of concrete of waste through RCA reduce impacts on landfills, reduce energy use, and provide cost

saving. In this study we are using copper slag as a partial replacement to fine aggregates and recycled coarse

aggregate as a partial replacement to coarse aggregates in concrete, in which cubes and cylinder were casted for

M25 grade of concrete and for various proportions of sand replacement with copper slag and recycled aggregate

replaced with natural aggregate ranging from 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50%. Obtained results on different

parameters like strength, workability and density were compared with those of control concrete made with

ordinary Portland cement, natural coarse aggregate and fine aggregate.

Abstract- Fatigue and reflective cracking in pavement is typically caused by the traffic loading, age hardening or

temperature cycling. When cracking is present, the traditional remedy has been to apply thicker asphalt overlays,

for each inch of applied overlay; existing reflective cracks are generally deterred from reaching the surface for a

period of one year. Use of this glasgrid pavement system has provided additional support to resist the migration

of the reflective cracks in roadways application. The use of glasgrid has literally extended the life period of a

pavement by 200%. The materials are sandwiched between the leveling and surface course asphalt in a

conventional asphalt overlay. It becomes the hidden strength in the road designed to turn vertical cracks stresses

horizontally and effectively dissipate them laterally. Glasgrid system has been proven to be effective in every

geographical area and climate from desert environment to near arctic condition. In contrast with the other

interlayer systems, this application is easily broken up by traditional milling equipment. It also has an additional

benefits, its main component is silica, a natural substance that is environmentally friendly.

Abstract— Concrete is a composite material composed of CA bounded together with a fluid cement that harden

over time. Most concrete used are lime based. Concrete play a vital role as a construction material in world. For

longer life span of the structure, it is necessary to predict or determine the cracks if any. For this purpose, copper

which is a conducting material is used. If copper wires is added to concrete, the electrical property of the structure

changes. Copper not only change electrical property by making it a conductor but also making it having electrical

resistance change in response to damage structure. This makes the concrete able to detect the small amount of

stress inside the structure. The structure has to checked or examined on regular basis to monitor signs of cracks.

Abstract: Now a days concrete is widely used as a construction material due to its strength and durability.

Concrete mix proportion is dependent upon the nature of work of cement, aggregate and water . Concrete needs

proper Curing to attain the desired strength. Insufficient Curing affects the strength and durability of the concrete.

For Curing the availability of water is the demand. Self Curing Concrete is one of the special concrete in

mitigating insufficient Curing due to human negligence paucity of water in arid areas. In this study the attempt is

made to study the various mechanical properties of concrete under self curing. It can be accomplished by mixing

Super Absorbent Polymer in concrete in various proportion such as 0.1% to 0.5 ℅. Super Absorbent Polymer

absorbs water and stores it within its molecular structure and supplies required amount of water for Curing which

prevents shrinkage.

Abstract— In hilly regions the buildings has to construct on a sloping ground because of scarceness of plain

ground, resulting in the adoption of either a step back or step back with setback configuration as a structural type

for buildings. The buildings constructed on hill slopes show different structural behaviour than that on the plain

ground. Since these buildings are unsymmetrical in nature and they attract large amount of shear forces and

torsional moments, and give unequal distribution due to varying column lengths. Building Constructed on a

sloping ground has to face severe earthquakes. Compare to normal buildings, seismic behaviour of buildings on a

sloping ground are different. Building on a sloping ground has a higher base shear and torsion, higher

displacement than building resting on a plain ground. In this study using SAP-2000 software dynamic analysis is

carried out on two types of building namely building on plain ground and step back building and step back with

setback building on sloping ground. The various dynamic response properties i.e. Base shear, top storey

displacement Column reactions, beam reactions have been studied. Various earthquakes time histories applied at

various angles and dynamic analysis will be studied for each cases. It is observed that short columns attract large

earthquake force and affect more damage in earthquake. At last, the suitability of different configurations of hill

buildings has been suggested.

Abstract— Concrete is a composite material composed of coarse aggregate bonded together with fluid cement

that hardens over time. In this project the study will be carried out to build concrete and study its properties with

respect to normal traditional concrete. The material to be replace in concrete are coarse aggregate for the concrete

mix of M25 and also to derive application and place of implementation as Plastic Mixed Reinforced Concrete -

Behavior. One of the main environmental problems today is the disposal of the waste plastics. The use of plastics

in various places as packing materials in the products such as bottles, polythene sheets, containers, packing strips

etc., are increasing day by day. Because plastic is widely available and not biodegradable, it is a material of

choice to include as a component of light concrete, despite possible reluctance from users to adopt such new

material.

Abstract- Traditional energy sources, such as non-renewable coal and oil, are burned to produce energy.

This process creates a negative impact on the environment. Green energy involves generating power

from natural phenomena like wind, sunlight, tides, plants and geothermal heat generated deep within the

earth. Energy from wind is the fastest growing source of electricity in the world. In this project wind

energy is used to generate electricity with the help of aero leaves. Several leaf shaped aero leaves are

placed in the form of tree, Called Wind Tree. Wind Tree uses tiny blades housed in the aero leaves to

generate power from wind energy. These Wind trees are able to generate power regardless of the wind

direction and with minimum wind speed. In this Project we have used tree shaped structure, covered

with leaf shaped mini turbines called aero leaves which are of Savonius type turbine and designed to

produce the power which will catch the wind from all the directions. Artificial leaves operate as mini

vertical turbines all around the tree. When the wind blows, the leaf turbines rotate and quietly produce

the energy. This project concludes that, the Power generated from wind tree is environmental friendly,

mainly it generates power with least noise and it can be installed at different locations.

Abstract: In the field of automation , research and development for industrial automation has increased

rapidly in recent years. In today’s world’s, there are many cost effective solutions which allow advance

computer control. If an automobile industry is considered, there are many systems which can be

atomized to have better process control. One of the systems present in automobile industry is cooling

tower. It does the function of cooling down the spot welding guns in fabrication shop. There are some

parameters of cooling tower which should be monitored continuously. As system is present at the

remote place, it is very difficult to monitor it from the shop. Monitoring this plant manually is not

efficient as it is very important plant. Failure of this plant leads in loss of production. This paper is to

Abstract— We know the importance of electricity as its most important thing in current time. As it’s the major

source for the any country and its development as they both are interconnected. Also, the thirst for new sources of

energy is never ending, but we seldom realize that due to inductive load we use we are wasting lot of energy due

to lagging power factor. Hence this waste of energy is needed to be avoided as soon as possible. Before getting

into the details of Power factor correction, let’s just revised basic knowledge related to ―power factor‖. In simple

words power factor basically states how far the energy provided has been utilized.

Abstract- The automobile industry has shown increased interest in the replacement of steel springs with fiberglass

composites leaf spring due to high strength to weight ratio. The main aim of the project is to find the effects of

replacement of the leaf spring and composite leaf spring made of E-Glass Epoxy is carried out. Comparing the

load carrying capacity, stresses, stiffness, contact stiffness, and weight savings of the composite leaf spring with

that of steel leaf spring is performed. The design constraints are stresses and deflections. Finite element analysis

with 3-D model of 9.525 mm thick leaf springs by introducing the contact pair in between the leafs a non-linear

static analysis for the steel and composite material was done using ANSYS. The results are compared with the

theoretical values and found in permissible limit. The analysis is performed in three phases. They are by varying

the load applied on the leaf springs, by varying the normal penalty stiffness (FKN) of contact pair, by varying the

thickness of the composite leaf spring. By varying the load and normal penalty stiffness the behavior of the steel

and composite material multi-leaf spring is analyzed and the results are compared and holds good for composite

material. Since the composite leaf spring at 9.525 mm thickness is having the higher stiffness than required value

for the comfort ride, so it is modified by reducing the thickness of the leaf spring from 9.525 mm to 8 mm and

analysis is carried out and compared. From this analysis it is found that the composite leaf spring had 29.981%

lesser stresses, 12.951% of higher stiffness than that of the steel leaf spring. The obtained results for varying

thickness of composite leaf spring compared to the steel leaf spring are satisfactory. Due to the thickness

variation the weight reduced of 69.48% was achieved. It is found that the obtained natural frequency of 8 mm

thick composite leaf spring is away from the road irregularity usually have maximum frequency (12Hz) therefore

resonance will not occurs and it provides improved ride comfort.

Abstract: The main aim of this multi-cutter grass cutting machine is to cut the grass of desired size using the

blade adjustment technique and to collect the grass after the grass is cut using the machine with help of plastic

bag. We are using electrical motor to run the blades of the grass cutting machine, because the cost off the internal

combustion engine is high, And now a days the cost of the fuel is increasing day by day, and by combustion of

fuel harmful gases are also produced due to which the gases affect the atmosphere. The is one other option to run

the grass cutting machine by use of abundant solar energy of the sun using sola panel to charge the battery and to

run the machine using the battery. By making the machine with adjusting the angle of the solar panel in the

direction of the sun light more amount of the energy from the sun can be stored. By using this cost off electricity

and fuel is also saved. But we don’t have enough sun light in rainy season, so the battery is not charged as per the

requirement, so the machine cannot run long. So to overcome this in rainy season we can use electric motor with

proper precaution we can run the machine.

The grass cutting machine is a walk-behind type machine. We have to push the machine from behind to move it,

we add steering mechanism to it so movement of the machine is comfortable. The machine is very simple and it

is easy to use, so any one can use it, by this the cost of labour is also decreased, as anyone can use this machine

and no skills is require to use it. In this machine we are using multi-blade in triangle formation to improve the

cutting rate of grass. Now a days to make garden attractive the size of grass matters, so to overcome this problem

we make the machine with which we can adjust the blade with which we can cut the grass of our desirable size.so

the beauty of garden increase. We are using grass collecting machine with it so grass should be collecting at the

time of cutting so cleanliness is maintained and time is saved. The machine efficiency can be calculated on the

different types of the grass.

Abstrac--Plastic filament extruder produces plastic filaments of specified diameter by using

corresponding dies. Input materials (thermoplastics) used is in the form of granules and pellets and it

can be of waste plastic materials. Ceramic band heater is used to melt the input material. Barrel screw is

used to feed the input raw materials longitudinally along the screw. Screw consist of three zones namely

feed, melt, and transition zone. Input raw material is melted by using ceramic band heater for . Two

barrel heaters and one die heater is used to acquire maximum efficiency. Analog temperature controller

is used to control the temperature of the three heaters. Die used extrudes the filament at the diameter of

3mm. Diameter of the filament can be further reduced by using DC-motor to draw the filament coming

out of the die. Production can be further increased by increasing the barrel diameter above 65mm and

screw diameter above 60mm. Mechanical and thermal properties can be increased by adding fillers to

the input raw material. Extrusion is one of the extensively used processing technology in the rubber,

plastic, food and pharmaceutical industries.

In plastic industry, plastic extrusion is a continuous process, used to produce lot of money of raw

materials in the form of plastic film, Plastic sheets, Plastic pipes, Plastic tub and bottles, Plastic coated

paper, Plastic insulated wire etc. The utmost demand of these industries is that their machines should be

safe and reliable to ensure continuous production and can compete in a 24/7 environment [1]-[3].

Reliability and safety requirement demands better fault finding systems that can predict the faults in its

infant stage thus avoid the possible occurrence of catastrophic faults that develops with time. The fault

finding system should be reliable also, otherwise false fault detection or insensitivity to fault increases

machine downtimes or makes the condition worst.

Abstract : In our project tire inflation system shows that tire loose air through normal driving especially when run through

pot holes & permeation. At high speeds friction between tyres and the road results in air pressure increasing .Its results in

reducing tire pressure by the few PSI leads to reduce tire life, safety, and gas mileage and vehicle performance. This

project aim to develop an automatic self- Inflating tire system. The working principle of our project is to supply required

air in the tire with the help of compressor. compressed air is supplied in tire which is passed through the rotary joint which

fixed between the wheel spindle and wheel hub at each wheel .This is used to reduce fuel consumption, increase life of

tyre and safety of car and drive.

Abstract— This paper concerned with calculating boiler efficiency which is important boiler efficiency which is most

important for any types of steam power plant. The chemical energy of the coal into electricity is done by the thermal

power plant. The heat rate of a conventional coal fired power plant described how efficiency it converts the chemical

energy of the fuel into electrical energy. All over the world there is fastest growth of industry sector which can create the

problem arising regarding the crisis of fessible fuels. Substantial amount of energy used by industry is wasted as heat in

the form of exhaust gases, air steams and liquids leaving industrial facilities. Although it is not technically and

economically possible to recover all waste heat. The primary sources of waste heat in industrial facilities include exhaust

gases from fossil fuel fired furnaces, boiler and process heating equipments. Generally such fuels are used for converting

the chemical energy into electrical energy. About 30-50% heat supplied is converted into useful work. It promotes the

global warming may arise as well as this extent to being to atmosphere pollutions. Which include green houses and

harmful gases such as CO, CO2, NOX, etc. So, it is necessary to utilize this waste heat.

Abstract— In current time many cases of motorbike accident can be seen around us. The public get wounded or might be

dead and one of the cause is not putting on the helmet. Many public could save their life in accident cases if they put on

helmet at the time of accident. So as to overcome these problems, a Smart helmet is proposed having a control system

built inside a helmet. The thought is obtained after knowing that the increasing amount of critical road accidents over the

years is cause for concern among motorcyclists. It consist a RF transmitter and a RF receiver system. the motorbike will

not get start without putting on the helmet by the user, as user put on the helmet a RF signal radiate from transmitter and

once these RF signal get sensed by the receiver located in the ignition switch of the motorbike, motorbike will get initiate.

Abstract - In Today’s world, time as a resource is a major issue for any industry to avoid being wasted for an improved

production facility. In this paper we present an application of Single Minute Exchange of Die (SMED) in a Refinery

division of a company named Rashtriya Metal Industrial Ltd (RMIL) where they cast copper alloys using Horizontal

Continues Casting Process (HCCP). In this casters, they often need to change dies due to many reasons like excessive zinc

composition causing defects in metal casting, change in dimensions of casting requirement, etc. Current time taken in

changing of a single die is 6 to 7 hours. By observing the changeovers as well as referring Standard Operational Procedure

(SOP) we are positive that we can reduce time up to a considerable extent. There are many techniques to reduce the

changeover or setup time but we have selected SMED techniques to reduce the same. It bifurcates activities into two

categories which are internal activities and external activities. Internal activities are carried out only when the machine or

process has stopped and external activities can be done when the machine or process is still in operating. In SMED these

internal activities are converted into external activities to reduce the changeover time.

Abstract— Nowadays we need fuel efficient car. Also in previous years there is wastage of energy in suspension system

while driving the vehicle. This is possible only when load on the system is less. Hence to reduce the load on the system

we have to reduce the load on the engine using the kinetic energy generated in suspension system. Current air

conditioning systems can reduce the fuel economy of vehicle due to compressor Specification.

With the help of the piston-cylinder arrangement it is possible to convert the compression and expansion in suspension to

reciprocating motion which will compress air at high pressure. The pneumatic double acting cylinder is used for this

project to compress the air. The output air from the pneumatic cylinder is collected by temperature sensors and this

compressed air is stored inside the storage tank. After this research we concluded in car there is a lot of fuel burnt only for

working of A.C. while driving the car. By using this compressed air we can run the air conditioning system in the car and

save the fuel.

Abstract—Our app ―VERIFY MY SEAT‖ is a project based on RAILWAY RESERVATION SYSTEM. Through this

app a passenger can book a ticket in railways by providing a link to IRCTC, whenever his reservation is confirmed a PNR

will be generated. This PNR will be entered in our application so the application server will fetch all data from IRCTC

server about the passenger and generate a QR CODE .TC in railways will scan this QR CODE through his application,

and thus the presence of the passenger will be confirmed. And if passenger is not present his QR CODE will not be

verified by TC. Thus the first waiting list passenger will receive the confirmation text message along with PNR, thus

passenger will enter this PNR in our app and QR CODE will be generated. He has to get into the coach at next station and

get the QR CODE verified from TC in some time limit otherwise the app will automatically cancel his confirmation and

send the text message to next waiting list passenger.

booths. The main reason for this traffic at the toll booths is due to the manual working of the toll tax collection at the

booths. Each vehicle on an average needs to stop at the tool booth for about a minute for the payment of the toll tax. In

order to decrease this traffic, we decided to work on the construction of a project which reduces the manual work and

hence increases the vehicle speed passing by the toll booth. Also we decided to develop a project which allows the

vehicles just to pass through the booth without the need to stop.
