ULTIMATE ASSURANCELafarge Tarmac is leading the way with the introduction of Geo-fencing technology, which automatically triggers a text alert when a delivery is 10 minutes away from its destination. Trials are taking place in several regions with a view to a national roll-out in the near future.

Lafarge Tarmac offers a truly local service, which includes planning routes to avoid local traffic problems and scheduling deliveries to take advantage of regional weather windows.

To further improve our service we are currently trialling intelligent mixer truck technology that monitors and manages the water content of the concrete until it is poured, which means even if something unforeseen happens, total consistency is always assured.

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE – HOUSE BUILDING, SCOTLANDOver the last three years, Agilia horizontal has transformed the build process in Scotland. Embraced by the NHBC, and all major housebuilders and groundworkers, it is now accepted as the fastest most efficient way to build housing floor slabs.

House builders and construction companies are constantly looking for new innovations that will enable them to achieve better results, in less time, for a lower cost. Agilia self-compacting concrete does all of this and more. A fast, efficient solution for conventional foundation slabs and structural columns, it is also ideal for use in highly congested,

heavily reinforced areas, whilst its unique free-flowing consistency makes it perfect for complex moulds and intricate formwork. This unique flexibility makes Agilia the material of choice for virtually any application, from everyday construction works, to groundbreaking civil and structural engineering projects.

AGILIA SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE

FLEXIBILITY

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE – LONDON BRIDGE STATION, LONDONAgilia was specified for the exposed columns and beams of the new London Bridge Station following competitive, side-by-side trials. No other readymix concrete was able to satisfy the demands of main contractor Costain. In fact, they were so impressed that they also specified Agilia for the next stage of Bond Street Crossrail.

The concrete walls of Lincoln Museum have a highly distinctive board-work finish. To create this architects Panter Hudspith

required a concrete that was sensitive enough to capture the texture of timber in the finest detail. Agilia concrete was

specified following extensive testing during which a leaf was cast in the concrete. In the words of architect Hugh Strange “Agilia concrete has such a remarkable finish it picked up absolutely

everything, even the veins.”

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE – LONDON 2012, OLYMPIC DIVING BOARDSDesigned by Pritzker Prize winning architect, Dame Zaha Hadid, the iconic diving boards of the London Olympic Aquatic Centre, where Tom Daley secured his first Olympic medal, were constructed using 588m³ of Agilia Vertical concrete.

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCEThe unique strength and durability of our fibre reinforced concretes has been proven in the most extreme environments, including Blackpool, Brighton and Weston-super-Mare sea defence systems.

To meet this challenge Lafarge Tarmac has developed an innovative range of high performance concretes that are reinforced with macro synthetic fibres, eliminating the need for steel reinforcement. Designed for the construction of heavy-duty commercial and industrial floor slabs, Extensia and Topforce fibre reinforced concretes reduce the risk of drying and plastic shrinkage

cracking, require less joints, and improve both impact and abrasion resistance. Specifically developed for use in the most punishing environments, including coastal defence systems, chemical works, oil rigs, airports and foundries, our Toproc range of high performance concretes offers additional benefits, including: early strength, early drying and enhanced water, heat and chemical resistance.

HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE SOLUTIONS FOR HEAVY-DUTY APPLICATIONS

Reinforcing conventional concrete with steel mesh or bar is time-consuming and labour intensive. With metal prices and transportation costs rising it is also becoming increasingly expensive.

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE – SPORTPARK, LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITYThe use of Chronolia for the construction of the central core and walls of the SportPark, on Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Parks, allowed formwork to be removed after just two hours, instead of 2-3 days.

In an increasingly competitive and fast moving world construction companies and their contractors are under constant pressure to work faster, without compromising quality or increasing costs.

Lafarge Tarmac Chronolia was specifically developed to meet this challenge. A rapid-strength-gain concrete for walls, columns and beams, Chronolia can gain sufficient

strength to support its own weight within two-to-three hours of placement. This means formwork can be removed in as little as 4 hours, compared to 12 to 20 hours for traditional concrete. As a result, the number of cycles of form setting and stripping completed in a day can be significantly increased, and in some cases even doubled.

The beauty of concrete is that as well as being extremely strong and durable, it is also highly versatile. There’s no better example of this than Artevia, the ultimate range of creative concrete. Designed to inspire, Artevia provides architects and designers with total freedom to express themselves. Ideal for internal floors, external walkways and the creation of eye-catching urban landscapes, it is available in an endless array of colours and can be finished in a wide variety of different ways.

ULTIMATE EXPERIENCEFrom a distance the Dream, a formidable 20-metre-high statue of a girl’s head that towers over the M62 motorway, looks like it has been sculpted from marble. In fact it is made up from 90 unique panels, which were created using 190m³ of pure white Artevia concrete, as specified by architect Jaume Plensa.

ARTEVIA DECORATIVE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

CREATIVITY

The Artevia range of creative concretes is available in an unrivalled range of colours and can be finished in a wide variety of textures.

YOU CAN WALK ONWORKS OF ART

Meeting the needs of the UK’s growing population will require the building of hundreds of thousands of new homes and a significant expansion of roads and other associated infrastructure. As witnessed in recent years, rapidly expanding the built environment using conventional impermeable construction materials can overwhelm established drainage systems, greatly increasing the risk of localised flooding.

To meet this challenge Lafarge Tarmac offers Hydromedia, a unique fast draining concrete pavement solution that directs excess water away from streets, parking surfaces, driveways and walkways. Hydromedia can be installed on top of an aggregate sub-base that allows water to drain away naturally or used in conjunction with a reservoir system, which stores rainwater underground for controlled release into the environment.

SELF COMPACTING CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

AGILIAOur market-leading range of self compacting concrete solutions, Agilia is suitable for a wide range of applications, from congested heavily reinforced areas, to high quality aesthetic surface finishes. Easier to place than conventional concrete, it offers significant time, labour, money and equipment savings. No vibration means there is no risk of white finger, and noise pollution is significantly reduced because no cranes, pumps, vibrators or powerfloats are required.

AGILIA SCREED AA low shrinkage flowing screed made with a recycled gypsum, rather than cement, Agilia Screed A can be laid at thinner depths than conventional screed and has enhanced thermal properties that make it ideal for use with underfloor heating. Its fluid consistency enhances resistance to cracking and curling, and speeds up placement, reducing labour costs.

DECORATIVE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

ARTEVIAOur comprehensive range of decorative concretes includes coloured, exposed aggregate finish and polished concrete. A combination of specially made cement and liquid pigment technology provides a more consistent colour mix than conventional concretes.

EARLY STRENGTH CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

CHRONOLIA With setting times ranging from 4 to 48 hours, Chronolia concretes gain strength substantially faster than conventional concrete. A range of formulations is available to meet different requirements, from early trafficking and faster formwork, to catching up on construction delays.

HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

TOPROCToproc offers exceptional early and overall strength, cohesion and durability due to the presence of pozzolanic materials in its mix. Seven ready-formulated Toproc products are available with many different qualities, including enhanced abrasion, heat and chemical resistance. Bespoke formulations can also be designed to meet specific requirements.

TOPFORCESpecifically developed to reduce construction time, save labour costs and improve site safety, Topforce concretes are reinforced with macro-synthetic or steel fibres. This reduces the risk and width of cracks associated with long-term drying shrinkage, eliminating the need for crack-control steel mesh.

EXTENSIADesigned to deliver very low shrinkage values, Extensia allows floor slabs to be constructed without, or with reduced levels of, steel mesh or fibres. It is particularly durable and due to its extremely high strength, it can be laid in thinner sections.

COLD WEATHER CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

WEATHERMIXDesigned to withstand considerably colder temperatures than conventional concretes, Weathermix can be placed at temperatures as low as -7°C, reducing the risk of costly weather delays and time penalties.

LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

TOPFOAMProduced using a special production technique that retrains large quantities of air in the concrete, Topfoam is much lighter than conventional structural concretes making it ideal for filling voids and backfilling utility trenches.

WATERTIGHT CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

TOPPROOFVery dense and highly durable, TopProof contains advanced additives that block the internal capillaries in the concrete when it sets, making it completely watertight. This means that below ground structures, such as basements, can to be constructed without a traditional damp proof membrane.

SUSTAINABLE CONCRETE SOLUTIONS

HYDROMEDIA

A highly efficient solution to one of the UK’s biggest environmental challenges, Hydromedia is a new, fast draining, concrete pavement solution that rapidly directs excess water away from streets, parking surfaces, driveways and walkways. Unlike previous no fines concretes Hydromedia can be produced to a guaranteed strength.

ENVIROCRETE

Suitable for use in all applications from driveways to civil engineering projects, Envirocrete concretes have a much lower carbon footprint than conventional concretes, with some mixes saving up to

70% of CO2 per cubic metre.
