Principal’s News It is already December. With cold weather coming, please
remember to send students dressed in appropriate clothing. We
try to get the students outside for recess each day to get some
fresh air and exercise.
We enjoyed talking with you during parent/teacher conferences
and value the time you give us as we work together to help the
students learn and grow. We thank you for your feedback
regarding your child(ren)’s progress and the completion of our
parent/teacher conferences survey. Please feel free to contact us
if we can be of further assistance.
As a reminder, it is very important that students come to school on time each and every day. Students who start the day on the right track and on schedule feel more comfortable in their classrooms and are able to take advantage of every learning opportunity. Beginning of the day morning meetings are essential to the students’ development and assist in building positive relationships with peers.
Our school day begins at 8:00 a.m. That means students should be in their classrooms and ready to learn by that time. Our school doors open at 7:40 a.m., students go to lockers and classrooms at 7:50 a.m.
On behalf of the Concord Elementary School staff, I would also
like to wish you and your families a safe, healthy, and wonderful
holiday season.
Thank you,
Laura Anderson, Ed.D.
Concord Elementary School Principal
November & December 2019
To the amazing Concord Elementary School Community:
We wanted to share how thoughtful and generous our students and families have been
during our Concord Elementary School Holiday Toy Drive. Our school was able to supply
toys for needy families in our community as well as make donations to Toys for Tots.
These gifts will bring lots of joy and happiness to children and families during the holiday
season. Additionally, our Concord Elementary School staff held a “wrap” party after
school, where all gifts were then packaged with care. This toy drive allowed our students
to demonstrate empathy for others and show acts of kindness that ultimately make our
world a better place.
We appreciate all your efforts and am positive that much cheerfulness will be experienced
with your gifts. Thanks again Concord Elementary School for always being so fantastic!

Bus Reminder
During good weather, we ask
that you give the bus drivers a
five to eight minute window to
their normal pick-up and drop-
off time.
During inclement weather,
please allow the drivers an
eight - 13 minute window.
In the event of any
emergencies or extreme
schedule changes, you will be
notified via phone, text or
email.
**Please be sure that the
office has the most up-to-
date contact information**
Lost & Found
Our Lost and Found is
overflowing with items! If
you believe that you or
your child(ren) are
missing an item, please
have them check in the
Lost and Found. We have
coats, jackets, hats,
gloves, lunch boxes, and
other small items.
Anything that is not
claimed by the end of
the day on Friday,
December 20, will be
donated to a local
charity. Thank you!
Winter Weather Reminder
As winter approaches, please remember that our students at
Concord Elementary School are fortunate to have Physical
Education class every day. It is important that the students
bring their gym shoes each day so that they can safely
participate. Without proper shoes (rubber soles, no heels, and
either laces or Velcro straps) the students cannot join in the
activity and must walk the perimeter of the gym instead to
meet their daily exercise needs. Please be sure that your child
is bringing gym shoes to school each day, or consider leaving a
pair in your child's locker so that it is one less thing to
remember. Thanks for your support in keeping all of Concord
Elementary School's students healthy and active all year long.
Concord Elementary School students participate in Physical
Education and Fitness at Recess (FAR) activities daily. Please be
sure students are dressed properly and have necessary coats,
hats, gloves, scarves, boots, snow pants, etc. for the weather
conditions.
We consult the weather station to determine the temperature
and wind-chill factor. If the wind-chill factor is below zero and/
or the temperature is below 15 degrees, the children do not go
outside. If it is sleeting, extremely windy, snowing excessively, or
simply too wet or messy, indoor recess is determined.
While children are outside, we monitor changes to the weather
and if we need to bring the children back into the building we
will communicate with the supervisors using the two-way radio.

Starting School On Time Is Important! As part of their daily routine and learning process, it is critical that students attend school
on a regular basis as well as be on time.
The beginning of the day is so very important for learning to occur in a positive,
developmentally appropriate manner. When a child is consistently tardy, it is disruptive
not only to your child, but to the other students and the overall learning environment.
Please ensure that your child arrives at Concord Elementary School in time for their
classes no later than 7:55 a.m. each day. The car rider line starts at 7:40 a.m. each day
and is always moving so that the students can get to class on time. Once in a while, due
to weather or unsafe road conditions, the Concord Elementary School staff intentionally
slows down the car rider line to help ensure the safety of everyone. When this occurs, no
students are recorded as tardy for that day.
