Adult Sunday School Classes

Faith Weavers Class9:45 am, Room C128

Contact: Michael MarloweAlways open to those looking to move forward on the spiritual journey, the Faith Weavers class emphasizes the historic Christian faith, a Wesleyan understanding of God’s grace, and United Methodist teaching and it’s practice of personal and social holiness. Centered on Jesus Christ, this class discusses the Bible and many other scripture-based books or video studies to deepen our understanding of what it means to be his disciple. Members are both singles and couples, some with children junior high-age and older, that join together to support each other in whatever life brings. We enjoy gathering for fellowship and supporting church missions. Class members are active in many different ministries and activities of the church. (Ages 40+)

Wesley Class9:45 am, Room A101

Contact: Hugh and Sarah BrownThe Wesley Class typically uses a book of the Bible or a Christian Book to create a series of lessons over multiple weeks. This is a class that values discussion of topics, and those present are often asked to share their thoughts about a Bible passage or an author’s statements.  The class includes both couples and singles, most with young children.  This class enjoys many fellowship gatherings outside of the classroom, including an annual Christmas party. The Wesley Class also gathers on the third Sunday of the month at a class member’s home to share a meal together. (Ages 30+)

Seekers Class9:45 am, Room A102

Contact: Phil DarbyThe Seekers class explores various topics based on the Bible and Bible related material. Series topics may last from one week to several, and all topics are open for full discussion by everyone. Teaching is shared by those that have been called to teach within the class and on occasion a guest speaker may share their ministry. Fellowship occurs inside the class and occasionally an outing may take place. We support ministries and missions within and without the church as God touches our hearts. Though we come from different religious backgrounds, the class is unified through devotion to Jesus Christ.(Ages 60+) However, all are welcome.

Faith Explorers9:45 am, Room C129

Contact: Doug KalmbachFaith Explorers is a discussion-oriented class, primarily composed of parents (both couples and single parents) of young children to teens.  The class has a particular interest in studies which consider current world events and how we can live out our faith in the midst of society today. Members are active in mission and offer fellowship gatherings throughout the year. (Ages 40+)

Genesis Class 9:45 am, Room B116

Contact: Judy SatrapaThe Genesis class explores books of the Bible, Biblical themes (prayer, the Holy Spirit), and contemporary books such as What’s So Amazing about Grace?    The group enjoys exploring new depths and expressions of their spirituality, and comes together for fellowship activities such as visiting the Botanical Gardens and Biblical Arts Museum.  Class members actively attend a wide variety of church events.  Recent mission activities include supplying food for Samaritan Inn (shelter for homeless persons) and Project Transformation (an urban children’s ministry).  Many members of the class have adult age children. (Ages 55+)
