  • Absolute advantage / Comparative Advantage

In economics, the principle of: absolute advantage refers to the ability of a party (or country) to produce

more of a good or service than competitors, using the same amount of resources.

comparative advantage refers to the ability of a party (or country) to produce a particular good or service at a lower marginal and opportunity cost over another

Even if one country is more efficient in the production of all goods (absolute

advantage in all goods) than the other, both countries will still gain by trading with each other, as long as they have different relative efficiencies

  • Occupational Ghettos: The Worldwide Segregation of Women and Men

Article written by Maria Charles and David B. Grusky. Compare countries by means of sex segregation There is a distinction between horizontal segregation and vertical segregation

Horizontal segregation: The extent to which men tend to dominate the best jobs. Vertical segregation: Women tend to be over presented in the non-manual work sector.

The mix of vertical and horizontal mechanisms varies across countries

  • The Big Mac Index
