The A-compact PLUS series of high-voltage motors is a new generation of modular motors manufactured by SEDL.
These motors have a high degree of reliability and are very compact. This makes them ideal for a wide range of applications, e.g. fans, pumps, compressors…
The motors’ high availability still applies when used indoors, outdoors andeven in regions with tough climates – as well as at high altitudes and in areas with a high humidity.

We have especially focused on achieving the highest degree of reliability and lowest envelope dimensions.The result of our development work: A-compact PLUS, the high-voltage motor that admirably fulfills both of these requirements: Reliable power and compact design.Our H-compact PLUS motor series is the optimum choice if an extensive range of options or highly customized motors are required.
A-compact PLUS motors are the optimum motors for standard applications. Simplified order and optimized productionprocesses as well as a pre-defined limited range of options result in considerably shorter delivery times. An outstanding level of efficiency and a compact and rugged design result in a degree of reliability and availabilityin spite of the low envelope dimensions – with reduced lifecycle costs.
Design with modular top-mounted cooling units
Internal ventilation circuitAn uni-directional fan is mounted on the motor shaft at the DE.This fan blows air through the rotor and the air gap. Both the rotor and stator are constructed withradial air ducts in which the cooling air, driven by the rotor, flows outwards and provides intensivecooling of the rotor and stator.
External cooling circuit The cooling units for the various cooling methods are isolated from the stator housing vibration andcan be mounted / dismounted without disconnection of electrical terminals on the motor.
1RA1 / 1RP1 motor : open-circuit cooling IP23 / IP24WThe cooling air is drawn in laterally below the housing by the fan mounted on the shaft, guided through the motor and expelled axially at the NDE as warm air.
1RQ1 motor : air-to-air cooling IP55An uni-directional external fan is fitted to the NDE of the motor shaft. This drives the cooling air through the tubes. The air exits axially at the DE.
1RN1 motor : air-to-water cooling IP55Independent of the ambient conditions the top-mounted air-to-water heat exchanger always ensures the highest cooling power – with minimum thermal dissipation to the immediate environment.

The frame and end shields are ribbed and manufactured out of gray cast iron with a sophisticated aerodynamic shape. The motors have a high degree of strength and stiffness thanks to the internal ribs as well as the box-section feet along the complete length. The gray cast-iron frame in conjunction with high-quality anti-corrosion protection protect the motors against the effects of the weather over many years.
The aluminum die-cast technologyhas the benefit of being extremely rugged due to the form-fit connection between the rotor bars and laminated core.

Proven technology
Well-proven MICALASTIC VPI insulation
A-compact PLUS motors have the MICALASTICinsulating system that has proven itself over manyyears in high-rating, high-voltage motors – and that worldwide. An important component of this insulatingsystem is the VPI technique (Vacuum Pressure Impregnation) that is harmonized with the insulationdesign. This insulation technique fulfills every requirement regarding:• Motors can either be fed directly from the line supplyor a drive converter
• High switching and reversing strength due to the highstiffness of the winding overhangs
• Excellent corona shielding• In conjunction with the extraordinary mechanicalstrength and thermal endurance, these factors ensure an extremely long winding lifetime - even undertough environmental conditions.
Continuous monitoring
Even the most sophisticated motor can be exposed to operational conditions for which it was not originally designed.Sensors and monitoring devices can continually sense the electrical, thermal and mechanical operating data.
Bearings with the highest reliability
The bearings of our A-compact PLUS motors areprecisely aligned to the speed, load and otheroperating conditions. The motors are equipped withroller bearings. They are well sealed to makethe motors insensitive to external environmentaleffects – therefore playing a role in achieving thehigh degree of availability and increasing the productivity of the overall plant or system. The low maintenance costs also have a positive impact on the operating costs.

Terminal box
Mounting position of main terminal box
Terminal box type 1XA8 711
By view towards DE, the main terminal box is mounted at the right side of the motor. The axial location of the main terminal box is at NDE. When two terminal boxes are required they are mounted on the right hand side and left hand side at NDE.

Auxiliary terminal box
The position as standard is on the right hand side. Left or right side is possible, independent of main terminal box.2 openings for cable glands size M25x1,5 are standard, they are closed with plugs.

The monitoring elements are connected-up in auxiliary terminal boxes.The auxiliary box is integrated into the motor frame. The plate for connection will be sealed with a plate of steel, according to IP55.
High vibration qualityAn innovative production process in conjunction with high-precision balancing results in the vibration severity grade A (2.3mm/s) according to IEC 60034-14.
Environment-friendly-low noise levels
These motors have low noise values - even in the basic version.This has been achieved as a result of the following :• Optimum mechanical design of the motor• Motor frame and end shields made of grey cast iron for high damping• Optimized cooling• Aerodynamically designed fan• The air intake and enclosure have been designed for low noise• Carefully selected number of stator and rotor slots for low magnetic noise excitation• Supplementary measures to reduce the noise level
