Introduction to the Community & School Sports Department The Community and School Sports Department is based at Fort Regent and was introduced in 2006. The department is funded by Education, Sport & Culture and Home Affairs and has the responsibility to ensure that sport is inclusive to all children on Jersey.

Through our partnership with State Street we are able to provide this comprehensive programme of sport during the summer holidays at a significantly low cost to parents & guardians.

How to BookBy Post: Please complete the application form in full and return together with the correct payment to Community & School Sports Department (Holiday Course), Fort Regent, St Helier, JE2 4UX. Payment is required at the time of booking (cash or cheques accepted). All applications are processed on a first come, first served basis. All activities based at Fort Regent have limited availability. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Notes for ParentsAll activities will start and finish at the times stipulated. Please ensure that the young people participating arrive and are collected at the correct times. Instructors cannot take responsibility for children outside session times.

• Please ensure plenty to drink is brought to all activities (non fizzy).

• All equipment will be provided except when indicated.

• Please ensure appropriate footwear and clothing is worn.

• Please ensure that for outside activities youngsters bring sun protection cream, a cap and waterproof clothing.

The department of Education Sports & Culture reserve the right to cancel or amalgamate courses/sessions should there be insufficient demand.

In order to ensure safety and enjoyment of all youngsters the department for Education Sport & Culture reserves the right to refuse applications or withdraw youngsters form activities. Parents/guardians will be informed should the situation arise by the Community Sports Development Officer or a member of the department.

Please note that requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Community Sports Development Officer at least one week before the course start date.

The organisers will not be responsible for any expense, consequential loss, legal liability, loss or damage to any property or person arising from any matters, acts and/or defaults outside its control. Please note that Education Sport & Culture accepts no liability in relation to any loss/damage arising out of any service/course included in this programme provided by a third party.

For Insurance purposes all participants must be within the age bands stipulated at the time of the course.

These fun sessions are suitable for all ability levels. Taking part in these sessions allows you the opportunity to try out all three activities as well as receive coaching from qualified trampoline coaches. All sessions are fully supervised.

During the summer holidays you will have the opportunity to be coached and take part in 5 a-side football games at Fort Regent. Our qualified coaches will take you through sessions and fun games to improve passing, control, heading and shooting. Players are asked to wear trainers and appropriate clothing. It would be advisable to also bring a light snack and plenty to drink.

Participants can expect to learn basic martial arts techniques. Sessions will be led by former British Kickboxing Champion Mick McCue and include various martial arts circuit training. No previous experience is necessary. Participants are asked to wear appropriate sports clothing e.g. tracksuits/shorts/t-shirts etc, no jeans. Please also bring plenty to drink.

Petanque is one of the fastest growing sports in Jersey and the Jersey Petanque Association is keen to encourage young people to have a go and discover just how much fun it can be. Our qualified coaches are eager to show youngsters how to play the game, how to develop the skills and how to play competitively. You don’t have to be a team player to be good at Petanque and the sport is inclusive to players of all abilities.

High scoring and a quick pace will combine to make Handball a truly thrilling team sport at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Participants can expect to learn basic skill and techniques required for Handball. Speed, skill and stamina are key attributes for competitors in modern Handball, a fast and exhilarating team sport. Handball offers non-stop, end-to-end action. Participants are asked to wear appropriate sports clothing e.g. tracksuits/shorts/t-shirts etc. Please also bring plenty to drink.

Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness program. Zumba involves dance and aerobic elements. Unlike a typical dance class where counts are used, Zumba involves following the music with repetitive movements. Zumba’s choreography incorporates hip-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts and some Bollywood and belly dance moves.

Inflatable Football Park Various locations during the summer holidays

Free of charge for anyone aged 8 – 15 years old. Session times 1.00pm - 3.00pm

Our Inflatable Football Parks will be in different community locations each week of the summer holidays allowing as many young people as possible the opportunity to take part in free small sided football games.

There is no booking required for this activity, simply turn up and play.

You can either come with a team already arranged or if not we will provide a team for you. Please wear appropriate clothing (no football boots) and bring plenty to drink.

The F.A Skills Programme is Back in Jersey this Summer!!

Improving the skills of 8 -11 year old boys and girls.

During the summer holidays Jersey will be lucky enough to host the FA Skills

Coaches. This is a unique opportunity that will provide top quality coaching and

allow children the opportunity to enhance their football skills. There will also be other

fun activities over the 3 days with relays, penalty shoot outs, use of the inflatable

pitches and many other activities to take part in.

ONLY £8.00 for all 3 days
