Communication Intern (Ref. ROU169) Introduction The British Embassy in Bucharest is looking to recruit an intern for the Communications Team. Main Duties / Responsibilities Compilation of the morning press review; Updates on the embassy social media channels; Contributions to public events; Translations from English to Romanian and vice versa; Maintenance of databases and IT equipment. Required Experience & Skills Excellent command of English (demonstrated by either relevant certificates or graduation of an English-speaking academic programme); Recent Master’s degree or current Master’s candidate, preferably in Journalism & Communication or Political Sciences; Availability for full-time employment from May 2015 to April 2016 (with August off); Demonstrated interest in International and European Affairs; Good writing skills (to be tested during the selection process); Good personal communication and organisational skills. Early morning starter; Very good basic IT skills (MS Office, Outlook, Internet browsing). Knowledge of desktop publishing software (Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus; IT literacy; Good social media skills; Available to work outside of office hours and on weekends on occasions, if the situation requires. Terms and Conditions This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) for a fixed period of 11 months. The salary is equivalent to the minimum wage per economy. The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background check and security clearances, and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of one month and is expected to commence employment as soon as possible after the selection process is completed. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to terms and conditions service according to Romanian employment law.
