If we can do this consistently, our dining experience will be greatly enhanced. D J DANCE PARTY: e singles table for this popular evening has been revived! It will be hosted by Kiki Rohr and Bill O’Neal. Just make your reservation with Kim, and tell her that you wish to be seated at the singles table. And ladies, don’t be shy about approaching the hosts. ey are here for your dancing pleasure, and they can’t always find you and know that you would like to dance. Just let them know at the beginning of the evening where you are sitting. NEW MENUS: e main menu will be refreshed beginning September 3rd . e mainstays will continue, and the other offerings will change out every two weeks. e kitchen staff is committed to exciting you with creative offerings and pleasing you with the quality and consistency of your dining experience. e Happy Hour Buffet needs some variety. In September there will be a variety of offerings, Asian, Mexican, Italian, and Good Old USA. Beginning in October when the club will reopen on Wednesday nights, the Wednesday dinner will be Home Cookin’ Night, with a rotating selection of your hometown favorites, such as fried chicken, liver and onions, meatloaf, fish and chips, and chicken pot pie. is will be served with soup or salad and a small dessert for a modest price. No other food will be available. As we get closer to the completion of the pergola, Shawn is dreaming up new ways to take advantage of our unique river view dining venue. NAUTICAL NEWS: FRIENDSHIP: Our club pontoon boat is available for rental by any and all members. It is reserved with Irene in the office. What a terrific way to entertain family and friends with a scenic voyage to a restaurant for lunch or a fishing trip. At $150 per day + gas it is the best deal in town too. BLESSING OF THE FLEET: Because Vero Beach is still celebrating its Centennial Year, the Blessing of the Fleet will be a very special occasion again. We are hoping to surpass last year’s registration of over 50 boats, both powered and non. So captains, save the date of October 12th and plan to join in this festive occasion, starting with the Captain’s Meeting on Friday evening with free drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Saturday, September 21st 9 am to 11 am

Weather permitting, let’s all plan to bring a snack/lunch item to share and enjoy the beautiful view from the island! No large items- I suggest containers no larger than 6”x 9” that will fit in the captains’ coolers. Also feel free to bring your beverage of choice. I will provide glasses and napkins.

Shipmates is a women’s organization within the Vero Beach Yacht Club that assists with Club projects and promotes the VBYC within the community. Recently the Shipmates co-hosted the OBA Summer Concert Series with a booth at the concert set up to collect Teddy Bears for distribution to the Hospital Emergency Room, the Sheriff ’s Office, and the Vero Beach Police Department.

The September meeting will be a business meeting only with no guest speaker since many of our members are still out of the area for the summer. Lunch immediately following the meeting is optional.

Upcoming Events Include:October 11 - a presentation by Sue Flak, Recycling Coordinator, entitled “Trash Talk”November 8 - a Fashion Show by Patchington, a great time to shop for a new Holiday wardrobeDecember 13 - Annual Holiday Luncheon
