A commission is a fee charged by an agent in return of a sales service. A payment is calculated as a percentage on the total/partial invoice amount.

• The steps I’m going to perform are:• Enter agents as Worker;• Setup commission posting profile;• Create Sales Group: calculation policy and agents involved;• Add the Sales Group to customers on Master Data.

I’m going to enter the agents on Dynamics AX as workers of type employees. How to create a complete record is out of scope of this tutorial.

Commission Posting Profile

I use the same account in debit and credit because I don’t want financial impacts when a sales order is posted.

Sales and marketing –>Setup >> Commissions > Commission posting

A Sales Group identifies the commission calculation method and the agents involved.

Sales and marketing –>Setup >> Commissions > Sales groups

• Group: Type an unique ID to identify the commission sales group

• Name: A brief description of the commission sales group

Push the Sales rep. button to add the agents• Name: Select the agent name;• Commission share: Type the percentage of the

invoice amount to be considered as calculation base.

Push the Commission calculation button to add the commission policy.• Item code: is the commission applied on a specific item,

or group? Is it valid for all items? In this example, I set up the commission for all items;

• Item relation: select a specific item or group. If Item Code is select, fill with the value item or group;

• Customer code: indicate if the commission has to be applied just for a specific customer or group. In the example, I set up the commission for all customers. Then, I will attach the Sales Group on each customer for whom the commission has to be calculated.

• Sales rep. code and Sales rep. relation: autocompleted since we’ve started the setup form sales tax group.

• Discount: decide if the commission has to be calculated before or after the line/total discount.

• Revenue: commission on Revenue or Margin?• Commission percentage: the percentage of the

commission.

Account Receivable/Sales and marketing –> Common >> Customers > All customers

1. Open the Costumer in edit mode; 2. In the Sales order default fast tab, then in

the Sales group field, select your Commission sales group;

In the Sales invoice journal: Accounts receivable –> Inquiries >> Journals > Invoice Journals

In the Worker form: Human resources –> Common >> Workers > Workers

• Push Compensation in the menu on the left;

• In the page form push the Commission transactions link to view all data about calculated commission;

• In the page form push the Sales group link to view details about the base percentage used for the commission calculation.
