CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The 6/7b class won the pizza lunch

for selling the most gift cards in

our Avgen Fundraiser sponsored

the SCC. Here they are enjoying

their winnings – looks yummy!!

ÉGS students performed a Christmas concert for

parents and community December 22. “What

Can Go Wrong for Christmas” told the story of

the holidays all being mixed up, finally getting it

right in time for Christmas!

The event was well attended and enjoyed by all,

and was live streamed (thanks to Mme

Munteanu!) and enjoyed by numerous home

viewers as well. Thank you to the Christmas

concert committee consisting of Miss Stene,

Mrs Goepen Bourgeois, Mme Gisele, Mme

Elyett and Mme Gauthier for leading this effort.

Thank you to the teachers for rehearsing their

class numbers and creating costumes for their

students, to Mr Lehmann for running the sound

system, and all the other hands on deck that

made the concert a success! Thank you to our

community for your generosity, providing

donations to the food bank to ensure a Merry

Christmas for all, and for your support of Aaron

and his family, helping them as we are able on

their journey ahead.

Nouvelles de 3/4b

Avant Noel, nous avons présenté notre film.

Les parents ont été invites a une classe

transformer en théâtre. Nous sommes en

train d’apprendre tout sur la lumière. Notre

but ultime est d’éclairer une station

spatiale.

VOYAGE au QUÉBEC ÉGS French Immersion students planning on visiting Montréal and Quebec City in February of 2020 would like to thank all of you who ordered a pasta hot lunch January 18! The Voyage au Quebec group and Mme Gauthier will continue to prepare hot lunches throughout the year as part of their fundraising endeavors. Many thanks to the parents who are eager to help out when extra hands are needed. Profits from various hot lunches such as these help supplement some of the costs of this great cultural trip where students are completely immersed in the French culture during six days. ÉGS students participated in such

trips in 2010, 2013 and 2016, all returning with fabulous experiences and memories. MERCI!

The grade 3 /4 b class is very busy these days

learning about light, total health and textures

in art. We are also learning more about

maps, math and language arts. Before

Christmas, parents were invited to attend the

premiere showing of a movie made in the

class.

ORATORY

concours d’art oratoire

Once again students from kindergarten to grades

7 are busy practicing and preparing their poetry

selections for our annual oratory competition!

Students are given the opportunity to recite a

poem for an audience, learning the valuable skill

of public speaking.

Oratory Finals will be held in the gymnasium:

January 22 - French Oratory Finals 9:30 a.m.

February 13 – English Oratory Finals 9:30 a.m.

Winners of the oratory finals will be sponsored by

ÉGS to compete at the Gravelbourg & District

Music Festival April 16-18 if they choose to

advance. (Students may enter the music festival

on their own but will be responsible for their own

entry fees and submissions to the Music Festival.)

The 4’o-clock rockers gave a

performance January 15 for their

parents. They performed a set of 8

songs they will again present for ÉGS

students and for their showcase at

the theatre later in the year.
