Codex: T’au EmpireThis opus uses the special rules and wargear lists found in Codex: T’au Empire. If a rule differs from the Codex, it will be clearly stated.

The points are intended for the model WITHOUT theequipment listed, you need to add the costs of thewargear you can find in the points value section of theT’au Empire Codex.

Faction Keywords All models in this opus have the T’au Empire keyword.

Model AvailabilityYou must adhere to the following model requirementswhen building your Warband:

● 1 Leader model● 1-20 Core models● 0-5 Special models

Sept TenetsYou can select a Sept tenant from Codex: T’au Empire,or you can create your own using the Custom SeptTenant rules on page 3.

All Sept tenets from the codex function as describedin the codex, with the exception of the Sa’cea Sept, which is amended as thus:

“Add 1 to the Leadership characteristic of models withthis tenet. In addition, in the Shooting phase you canre-roll up to 5 of your warbands failed hit rolls..

MarkerlightsFor the purposes of HoR, do not use the rules forMarkerlights as outline in the Codex. Instead, refer tothe ‘Markerlights’ rule on the following page for howto implement them in game-play.

DronesRefer to the Drone section on page 20 of this opus fora full list of drone models and rules on how to includeand implement them in your warband.

Bonding Knife RitualThis special rule works as stated in the T’au Codex inregards to the basic morale test and the Nerve test. Inregards to the Rout test, do not count models withthe Bonding Knife Ritual ability when determiningyour threshold.

Damage TablesThere are two units in this opus that have damagetables added to their data sheets, namely the XV88Broadside Battlesuit and the TX4 Piranha. In bothcases refer to the wound characteristics to determinewhat stats they must use.

StratagemsThe T’au and their Auxiliaries have access to many exclusive Tactical Actions. You can choose to use a tactical action from bellow in addition to the ones found in the Heralds of Ruin rule book.

Actions Cost Description

BenevolentSacrifice

1 CP

Use this stratagem if your Leader that has the T’au Empire keyword is being targeted with a ranged or melee attack. Select a friendly model with the T’au Empire and Infantry keywords within 3” of your Leader; that model intercepts that hit – the Leader does not lose a wound but the intercepting model suffers a mortal wound.

Recon Sweep 1 CPUse this stratagem in the Shooting phase. Pick one model with the Pathfinder keyword. That model may forego its shooting and move up to D6” as if it were the movement phase.

Breach andClear

1 CP / 2CP

Use this stratagem in the Shooting phase. Select up to two friendly models armed with a Pulse Breachers, they may re-roll wound rolls against models in cover or within a structure.

You can spend 2 CP instead of 1 when using this stratagem. If you do, you can select an additional two models armed with Pulse Breachers.

FailsafeDetonator

1 CPUse this stratagem if a friendly model with the Battlesuit keyword loses its last wound. Roll a d6, on a 2+ one enemy model within 3” of that model suffers a mortal wound.

HuntingGrounds

1 CPUse this stratagem after a friendly Kroot Hound successfully completes a charge move. Until the end of the phase, you can re-roll failed charge rolls for other friendly Kroot Hounds that select a model within engagement range of that model.

RegressiveRegen

1 CPUse this stratagem when a friendly unit with the Kroot keyword suffers a wound or mortal wound. If the unit has a genetic totem, you can remove the totem from its datasheet and the wound is ignored. If you are playing in a campaign the totem must be repurchased.

GeneticHarvest

1 CP / 2 CP

Use this stratagem when a friendly unit with the Kroot and Infantry keywords successfully destroys an enemy model with the Infantry Keyword in the Fight phase. If thedefeated unit has a faction keyword that matches the title of a Genetic Totem (i.e. the Ork keyword and Ork Totem), that friendly model may take that totem as part of its equipment for the remainder of the battle.

If the Kroot unit defeats a unit with the Psyker keyword, it can choose to assimilate the Psyker Strain instead of the species specific totem, but it cannot assimilate both.

If you are playing in a campaign, you can spend 2 tactical points instead of 1 to make that totem a permanent addition to your units datasheet.

AutomatedRepair

Systems2 CP

Use this stratagem if a unit with the Vehicle or Battlesuit keyword in your warband has lost a wound . That unit regains a single lost wound.

ConcealedBooby Traps

2 CP

Use this stratagem at the end of your opponent’s Movement phase if there is an enemy model within 12” of a Kroot Hunter or Kroot Shaper. Roll a D6. Subtract 1 from the result if the targeted unit is your opponent’s Leader. If the unit is within 3” of another enemy unit add 1 to the roll. On a 4+ you can target the enemy model with a grenade as if it was the Shooting phase, ignoring the weapons range and line-of-sight. On a 7+ the grenade automatically hits.

DronesDrones are a unique collection of units that have the characteristics of a model, but for the sake of game-play are purchased and treated as wargear. As a result, the following rules apply in regards to drones:

• Drones do not count towards your model count or model availability (with the exception of the MV41 HeavyGun Drone and the DX-6 Remora Stealth Drone, which are located in the Special units section).

• The number and type of drones you can take is stated in the Options section of the datasheets used by your warband units.

• Drones are never factored into morale tests

• Drones can never claim or interact with mission objectives.

MODELING TIPS

• Kroot Hunter (32 mm): This unit is modeled off of the Dahyak Grekh character from Blackstone Fortress, but can proxied by any Kroot model with some special bits and do-dads to set it apart (extra feathers, poncho, ect).

• Sniper Drones: If you’re feeling on the cheap just glue a spare Pulse rifle and some spare Phobos fins onto a gun drone for a convincing Sniper Drone

• Cadre Fireblade: There are many ways you can build one using the Fire Warrior kit, but if you want it to stand out from a regular Shas’ui consider putting all the extra aesthetic bits on it that you’d typically see on aleader; bonding blade in one of his hands, cape, helmet less head, distinct rank markings, putting him on an elevated base, ect.

• DX4 Technical Drone: Take a Gun Drone, glue a spare Crisis suit head and a shield generator to its underside and you’ll essentially have a technical drone. But really, no body really knows what one looks like so you could get away with gluing any assortment of bobs and bits and get a convincing look. Another idea is re-apropriating those Homing Beacons from the Stealth Suits.

• MV8 Missile Drone: This is probably a no brainer, but perhaps easy to overlook. Glue one of your spare Crisissuit missile pod to a gun drone, and bada-bing.
