List Of Codes & Conventions

Logo: A logo is used to show the name of the publishing company or the newspaper itself. Slogan: A Slogan is a catchphrase for a newspaper something that can easily be identified with a

newspaper. Masthead: The tittle of the newspaper. Headlines or Crossheads: Tittle of the story which also helps locating a particular story. Bylines: Credits/the reports name. Date line: The date or information like website address and the issue number etc. allocated with the

mast head in small font size. Lead Story: This is seen as the most important story featured in the newspaper and this will be the

most coverage. The story will also be of interest for the audience. Lead Paragraph: A Lead paragraph is at the beginning of an article and it provides the readers with

information on what the article is about. Images and captions: Images related to the story with a small heading usually placed at the bottom

border of the image. Columns: They help to display text in a neat and a representable manner across the page in order

to make it easier for the reader to read it.

Reversed Type: A white or light color type font placed on a black back ground. Kicker: Headlines in smaller fonts which are often underlined. Hammer: Large headline place above the main headline of the page. Deck: Summery of articles and stories usually at the edge of the newspaper. Font Types, Colors & Sizes: The Style chosen particularly for a newspaper as its signature font it

after some times becomes its signature. Initial & Drep Caps: Stylize the text into something different. Pull Quotes: Quotes within an article to attract the readers e.g. advertisements Push Quotes: Awareness Quotes, A Quote to repel the readers to do a particular thing e.g. Smoking,

taking drugs etc. Display Advertisement: This is an advertisement included in a newspaper which includes writing

about the service or product and along tis will be a photo. Small Advertisement: This is a different and a less important advertisement then the Display

advertisement.

The News International is leading English language newspaper of Pakistan. The News International is the second largest leading newspaper of English

language in Pakistan. 

The Daily News International is an English language second largest circulated and published newspaper of Pakistan. It is owned by the Jang Group of

newspaper. It was inaugurated in the year 1991. It is printed simultaneously from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Rawalpindi. It is also published

from London for the Pakistani community. Shaheen Sehbai is the editor of the News International. Its headquarters is located in Karachi.

Jung NewspaperHistory & Ideology

It is the largest circulated Urdu language newspaper of Karachi, Pakistan. Jang newspaper Karachi is owned by the Jung Group of

newspaper. It was founded by the Late Mir Khalil ur Rehman. Its existing owner is Mir Shakil ur Rehman, who is the son of  Mir Shakilur Rehman.

Daily Jang  is complete newspaper that contains stuff for each age group. Headquarter of Daily Jang is located at II Chundrigarh Road, Karachi. Jang newspaper is equally popular among kids, women, men, teen ages and

old people because of its variety of editions that covers all these people. Jang newspaper is well known for its reliable news reports and it publishes all news related to entertainment, sports, fashion, politics etc.

Pakistan Today is a Pakistani English-language daily newspaper, published by Nawa Media Corporation from three

Pakistani cities – Lahore, Punjab; Karachi, Sindh; and Islamabad Capital Territory. Pakistan Today’s Headquarter is in Lahore, the

newspaper was founded by its editor and publisher, Arif Nizami, in 2010.

It is the first Pakistani newspaper to be published in the Berliner format. The newspaper upholds a liberal and moderate editorial policy

through its editorials and contents.

Dawn Newspaper History & Ideology

The  Daily Dawn is an English language newspaper of Pakistan. It is the largest published and circulated English language newspaper of Pakistan.

Daily Dawn newspaper simultaneously published and circulated from almost all the big cities of Pakistan. Dawn is owned by the Dawn Group of

newspaper, it was founded by the founder of Pakistan, Quaid e Azam in the year 1941. Dawn was founded to wake Muslims and to suppress the propaganda against Muslims before separation of Hindustan. Dawn

newspaper headquarters is located in Karachi, while other operative offices are working in Islamabad and Lahore, as well.  Abbas Nisar is the existing

editor of  Dawn newspaper.

The Nation History & IdeologyThe Nation is an English language daily newspaper of Pakistan. It is

printed simultaneously from the three major cities of Pakistan that areLahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

The Nation is a daily English language newspaper of Pakistan. It was started publishing in the year 1986. It is printed and circulated under

the flag of Nawa-i-Waqt group of newspaper. Currently, The Nation competes with two leading English language newspaper of Pakistanthese are The Dawn and The News International. The

Nation headquarters is located in Lahore. The Nation is well recognized not only all over the Pakistan but also internationally.

The daily edition of the Nation contains special sections for different

news such as one section is called The Nation Plus that contains news and infotainment about showbiz, glamour world etc. Another

section is called as The Young Nation; this section is especially designed for the young generation readers. An IT based section is

also the part of the Nation that contains news related to IT and it is named as Log On.
