RESULTS Round 2 3/6/14 vs the South

For those who were earlier risers Saturday it was a great sight to see at the netball courts at 9am. The crowd

was huge, parking was at a premium and rarely seem celebrities such as Craig Jaeschke were sighted at the

sidelines. Due to South having large numbers of J5s as well as us we had 2 J5 games running along with the J3

match. All games were played in fine spirits with impressive performances from Lara Jaeschke (incentive),

Sophie Pink, Charlize White, Sophie Pink, Sophia Michael (incentive) and Ella Pink. The J3s also showed that

they could easily adapt to the transition to full rules and with some accurate shooting from Chloe Goodwin

(incentive) won 9-3.

The J4s had a good start with Taylah Schell debuting and getting the incentive. Unfortunately South got a run

on at the end but some great netball was played girls. The J2s came out of the blocks steadily but gathered

pace and eventually, after an impressive performance from all players, ran away with the game to win 20-5.

Elyssa Aucote won the incentive for some lovely clean defence and for listening to her coach!

The J1s were also on their first outing as a team and kept with South for the whole game with great shooting

from Jess and Alyssa and some sensational defence from Kasey Mullighan (incentive). South were too good at

the end but I am sure they will be worried about the next meeting.

15U had a tight first quarter and after some gentle reminders at the first break stepped up to play some

excellent netball and held onto a good lead to win 28-22. Georgia May showed what she was made of to take

on board the coaches suggestions and play a fantastic last 3 quarters to earn the incentive. This was the first

time many of the South team had lost for 2 1/2 years so well done girls.

The C2s had a tough day out but held it together to be very competitive throughout. They didn’t get the

points but I was impressed by their effort and they certainly never gave up. The C1s also came up against

some tough opposition and went down 24-40 with Emma Lukong putting her body (and her Ag mark) on the

line to get the incentive.

The B2s had control of the game but couldn’t maintain their lead at the end and finished up going down by 1

34-33 with Chelsea Maynard getting the incentive.

Our B1 team is settling in with all their new faces and after a 3rd quarter scare managed a good win 48-34

with some remarkable shooting by Renee. Jude Pink had some bruises to display on Sunday but apparently

Sam’s “man” bruises were much worse!

The A2s put on a great display of shooting and defence but couldn’t be consistent so the score see sawed

throughout and at the final whistle the seesaw was down so it was a draw 41-41. The A1s were also on their

first outing and put up a great fight to go down 41-73. These girls have been training for some time and I

know they will get rewarded for their efforts if they can keep on striving for improvement. Elyce Huppatz was

a well deserved incentive winner with some great leading and shooting.

Regards, Sue

Thomo’s Tales First game for our fine young A1 Fillies.

Northies started well with accurate

shooting from our goalies. Souths

defence as always was consistent and

sharp. The first quarter break did see

south with a good lead.

Second quarter saw Lozza playing

great defensive netball and even

managing a rebound or two. Niddy

moved well in the goal circle and

rewarded the team with 9 goals.

In the third quarter, Northies settled

into the game and matched South’s

firepower. Our younger players, Chloe

Gogol and Baumy made an impact in

their positions.

The fourth quarter saw South

consolidate their lead with accurate

shooting and fantastic court presence.

North as usual put up a courageous

battle with first match nerves now out

of the way.

Special mention to Niddy for plating

four great quarters and Loz for her

great defensive skills and quick wit.

MEG MacDONALD,

A1 Team manager
