Principal’s Report
Our year 6 students had a wonderful time this week participating in
the Buckwaroon Landcare Group environmental awareness days.
Joined by students from St John’s, our students spent a day on school
site undertaking various mini workshops preparing them for a day
trip to Nullogoola Station. This program has been running for over a
decade and is a great opportunity for our students to learn about life
on the land and the management of the land as a resource. Thanks to
all the community volunteers for their work for our students and to
Mrs Jermyn for her coordination of the program.
We were also visited this week by Herb Smith, an internationally
renowned chief and bush tucker man whose food features on
QANTAS flights. Joined by Ngalli Preschool and St John’s students,
Herb talked to our students about healthy eating, bush tucker and
how to use it in modern cooking.
On Wednesday years 5 & 6 students worked with staff from the
Premier’s Sporting Challenge around healthy lifestyles and nutrition.
Students demonstrated a high degree of prior knowledge and were
congratulated by the visiting staff for their higher than average
understanding of the importance of healthy choices. This goes
directly to the quality of teaching and learning our students receive.
School planning for the next 3 years is well under way with Mrs
Lennon leading the development of the plan for the 2018-2020
period. Our plan will continue to reflect the mandatory inclusions it
currently includes. There will be rewording of the plan however the
essence will remain the same; a focus on continual improvement in
teaching and learning and supporting students to achieve. Further
information about this will follow over the next few weeks.
Have a great weekend.

Ernie is on the lookout!
Ernie has noticed that Ronin is becoming more responsible
in his class. He was happy to be a Teacher's Helper and took
responsibility to be a line leader and deliver messages for his
teacher. Ronin always keeps his workspace in a tidy fashion and
responsibly completes set work on time. Ernie is pleased that
Ronin is a responsible class member. Good job Ronin.
Ernie was quite delighted when he spotted Maddie
Bruce on the oval with her peers. She was using a
polite voice and being a good friend. Maddie also uses
her manners when speaking to teachers. Well done
Maddie!
Ernie was wandering in Arisha's classroom and he saw that
Arisha was working to the best of her ability. She happily
assisted her classroom teacher and other students when
asked. Arisha listened carefully to the instructions and was
able to be a leader and assist others with their learning.
She worked quietly and then assisted others with packing up
their area.
