Susan K. Newbold, PhD, RN-BC, FAAN, FHIMSS, CHTS-CP, [email protected], is the Course Director and Consultant in Clinical Informat-ics, Franklin, TN. Most recently she was the Education Lead for the implementa-tion of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) at the Hospital Corporation of Ameri-ca, Nashville, TN. She is uniquely qualified to teach this course as she has experi-ence in the vendor, consulting, academic and hospital world. Dr. Newbold is Board Certified in Nursing Informatics and initiated the first review course in nursing informatics in 1995. In 2001 she won the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing International Technology Award for Knowledge Ad-vancement for this course.

Dana Womack is a nursing informatics specialist with 15 years of industry experi-ence. She has supported clinical informatics initiatives within large firms including 3M, Deloitte and Intel Corporation, and has also worked as an independent consultant. Dana brings a nursing and informatics perspective to teams that develop, implement and opti-mize information management systems in healthcare settings. As a consultant, she helped launch the Center for Aging Services Technologies within a non-profit organization, and supported clinical decision support and quality initiatives within the Office of the Nation-al Coordinator for Health IT. Dana holds a master’s degree in nursing informatics from the University of Utah, and is currently a biomedical informatics doctoral student at Ore-gon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon.
