Title I Titulo I
• Nogales High School is a Title One school, which means it receives federal funding to help students graduate and to pass all state standards and the AIMS tests.
• The Title One plan was developed and modified by a committee of administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
• Nogales High School es una escuela patrocinada por Title One, lo cual quiere decir que recibe fondos federales para ayudar a sus estudiantes a graduarse y para poder pasar los estándares estatales y los exámenes en Lectura, Escritura, y Matemáticas del AIMS.
• El plan de Title One fue desarrollado y modificado por un comité formulado por administradores, maestros, padres de familia y estudiantes. Es un documento que cambia cuando las metas y objetivos de la escuela están modificados.
Title One Goals
Students will meet the state standards in Reading, Writing, Math,
and Science; as well as pass the AIMS exams in these subjects.
English Language Learners will improve their academic
achievement.
All core-subject teachers will be highly-qualified. All teachers will
continue professional development to achieve the first two goals
listed above.
NHS will be a safe and welcoming learning environment.
Parents will be part of the solution to have all students
academically and socially prepared to be in high school and upon
graduation in the world of work and higher education.
Metas de Titulo I• La escuela NHS será un campo seguro y con un ambiente
apropiado para el aprendizaje.
• Los estudiantes alcanzarán los estándares estatales en Lectura, Escritura, Matemáticas, Ciencias y pasarán el examen AIMS en estas materias.
• Los estudiantes de inglés como lengua extranjera (ELL students) mejorarán su aprovechamiento académico a tal grado que puedan estar más cerca de ser considerados como estudiantes fluidos en el uso del idioma inglés.
• Los maestros encargados de las materias en las que se esté examinando a los estudiantes serán altamente calificados. Estos maestros recibirán entrenamientos para ayudar a los estudiantes a que alcancen las primeras dos metas ya mencionadas previamente.
• Los padres serán parte de la solución para que los estudiantes estén preparados tanto académica y socialmente y puedan triunfar ya sea en la escuela, después de graduarse, en el ámbito laboral o para aquellos que decidan continuar con su educación.

Students must meet all of the following criteria:
1. A grade of “B” or better in the 16 core courses or an acceptable score on the appropriate AP test
and2. A final unweighted GPA of 3.5 or better in the 16 core
courses OR rank in the top 5% of your classand
3. An “Exceeds” on ALL 3 AIMS Tests by the end of yourJunior year or “Exceeds” on 2 AIMS, “Meets” on 1 AIMS, and score a 3 or better on 2 AP Tests.

Attendance
• When absent call Letty Russ: 397-7702
• Absences must be reported to Letty Russ in the Attendance office.
• For absences longer than three days, homework may be requested.
• The teachers will be informed and homework can be picked up after school. For extended absences call Frances: 397-7710
• Students may lose class credit after the fifth (5th) UNEXCUSED absence in a semester.
Dress Code No un-tucked shirts.
NO Bare Midriffs and See Through Clothing.
NO Spaghetti Straps, Strapless, and Low Cut tops. Bare-back tops such as Halter Tops, Razor Back shirts, and Boys Muscle Shirts are NOT allowed. Girls blouse straps must be a minimum of 2 inches wide.
NO Shorts, skirts, and dresses shorter than mid-thigh.
NO shorts, pants, skirts which do not fit properly. Ex: NO baggy or loose fitting clothing or excessively tight-fitting clothing.
NO visible body jewelry worn during Physical Education classes or any athletic activity.
Violation of the dress code may result in the student waiting in the office until appropriate attire is available. Repeated offenses may result in suspension. Each occurrence will be documented.
Tips to Help Your Child Succeed
• Attend all parent programs.
• Insist on weekly attendance.
• See all progress reports and report cards.
• Help your child with time management.
• Ask how their Senior Exhibition is going.
• Monitor activities and jobs.
• Look at school calendar for grading periods, progress reports, early release days, holidays, and vacations.
