I. PROGRAMGoal: Prepare our students through an outstanding program that promotes the joy of living and cultivates character, intellect, body, and spirit for a lifetime of service, leadership, and fulfi llment in a global community
Implementation:
A. Develop an integrated global and classical core curriculum1. Strengthen curriculum that requires strengthening
2. Appoint academic Department Chairs 3. Publish for Department Chairs, Division Directors, and the future Academic Dean respective job descriptions that delineate responsibilities 4. Integrate curriculum across academic departments and divisions 5. Require annual, formal reviews of curriculum by Department Chairs
B. Foster boldness of character through the total environment of the school 1. Develop a CIS Honor Code 2. Formally orient teachers, parents, and students to CIS school guidelines and expectations
C. Revise the daily schedule to accommodate broader course off erings and collaborative activities, including athletics and arts
D. Develop memorable grade-level fi eld trips or experiences related to the curriculum
E. Identify and publish local opportunities for competitive athletics not off ered by CIS
F. Formalize the community service program
G. Broaden US course off erings to include creative, challenging, non-AP electives
H. Encourage interested students to seek careers in teaching in order to serve as a model for the larger society

II. PERSONNELGoal: Recruit, develop, and retain faculty, staff , and administration who epitomize the CIS mission
Implementation:
A. Provide appropriate resources, to include professional development
B. Clarify expectations and roles, including class load, extra-curricular duties, and advisory responsibilities, for full- and part-time faculty, staff , and administration
C. Refi ne the evaluation process, using quantitative and qualitative performance measures
D. Respond to school expansion by formalizing the process of introducing new members of the faculty, staff , and administration to school culture
E. Develop communication protocol for use in parent relations
F. Encourage personnel to support “the joy of living” in daily practices
G. Create and annually review a prioritized list of personnel requirements as enrollment varies
H. Compensate at a competitive rate
I. Ensure a universal grasp of the school’s philosophical principles
J. Promote high morale by identifying and meeting employee expectations
K. Communicate faculty achievements and signifi cant involvement outside of school

III. FINANCEGoal: Develop fi nancial management and governance skills and an assertive fundraising program to support and advance the mission, program, and facilities of CIS
Implementation:
A. Devise a debt retirement plan 1. Explore options to dispose of the land debt 2. Convert the current building loan to a conventional loan
B. Recruit and train trustees who can create and implement successful fundraising strategies1. In recruiting trustees, seek those with accounting knowledge and sales skills
2. Provide accounting and sales training to current trustees 3. Rigorously analyze the results of fundraising
C. Establish a consistently successful annual fund and capital campaign 1. Continue educational eff orts regarding the diff erences between the annual fund and the capital campaign and the relevance of both 2. Generate positive social pressure that reinforces giving to CIS
D. Broaden the fundraising scope of the school to include grants and endowment giving 1. Hire an advancement offi cer 2. Establish the core skill sets and knowledge base among the school’s administrative staff necessary to increase fundraising and win grants
E. Continue to professionalize business practices 1. Follow the preferred business practices of the National Association of Independent Schools and the National Business Offi cers Association 2. Use rigorous quantitative analysis in spending decisions 3. Incorporate revised internal controls that refl ect the increased growth and complexity of CIS’s operations

IV. COMMUNITYGoal: Be a school community united by our mission and philosophical principles that embraces kindness, courageousness,and inclusivity. Serve as an asset to the world beyond our campus
Implementation:
A. Create and track leadership opportunities for students (for example, a senior capstone project)
B. Enhance collaboration among employees
C. Create an Alumni Association
D. Establish, communicate, and expand a ‘CIS brand’ that refl ects our mission and philosophical principles and addresses all constituents
E. Assess the value of creating a CIS tagline
F. Determine whether CIS is the proper long-term name for school
G. Establish partnerships with higher education, business, and other community agencies
H. Create the infrastructure necessary for CIS to serve the global community
I. Increase volunteerism both at the school and in the community

VI. PHYSICAL PLANTGoal: Develop and maintain a Campus Master Plan that provides a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment in support of the mission statement and program
Implementation:
A. Create a detailed Campus Master Plan in the fi rst quarter of 2012for 1801 North Stadium Boulevard that addresses needs through 2020 1. Establish enrollment capacity by grade 2. Assess space priorities 3. Develop short-term options a. Build a gymnasium, performing arts building, and outside athletic facilities b. Upgrade information technology c. Address maintenance of all infrastructure
B. Use new Campus Master Plan to develop the next Capital Campaign phase
C. Explore the possibility of providing local, remote, and event busing
D. Examine community use of CIS facilities and CIS use of community facilities
E. Maintain and upgrade facilities, as needed
