Intro of Chingay

• It is the largest street performance and float parade in Asia.

• From the main parade site to the heartlands, this street extravaganza epitomise the dynamism of Singapore's vibrant and multicultural society.

• The work Chingay is equivalent to the Mandarin zhuang yi (妆艺 ), which means "the art of costume and masquerade" in the Hokkien dialect.

The Indian culture has many different aspects and it is very colorful based on this picture.

• 55% of Singapore's ethnic Indians are Hindu, and there are roughly 30 Hindu temples in the country, with two gazetted as National Monuments of Singapore.

• Little India represents the heart of Indian shopping with its heady scent of spices and jasmine garlands, its treasure trove of silverware, brassware, ethnic jewellery and colourful silk saris.
