Information Regarding our Cemeteries Have you been thinking about purchasing a burial plot in our cemetery? If you have, now is the time to buy. The cemetery committee has decided to raise the rates beginning October 1, 2018. There is some time to consider this, but don’t delay; it won’t be long, and October will be here.

The cemetery committee has also updated the rules and regulations on what can be placed in the cemeteries. Information can be found on the parish website and printed copies are available in the parish office. Questions and concerns can be directed to Andy Loso at 363-7505 x121, 293-1953, or [email protected].

Campaign Administrative Assistant Needed The Church of Saint Joseph is looking for someone to help with administrative tasks for our upcoming capital campaign. Flexible hours with some evenings and weekends required, 10–20 hours per week, July through December. Looking for someone with an eagerness to serve. Great phone skills and computer skills are necessary. (Word, Excel, email, and database management.) Tasks include: call and email volunteers, manage mailings, track expenses, record gifts and pledges, and assist with preparation for meetings and events. Please send resume or letter of inquiry with salary requirements to [email protected] by Monday, July 23.

Parish Directory Photo Opportunity Our new parish directory format gives us the opportunity for an annual update. The updated directory will include primary phone numbers, current photos and any new pictures taken by parishioners during the photography sessions scheduled for August 2, 3 and 4 in Heritage Hall. Please take advantage of this opportunity to be included in the directory, if you are not already, or have a new picture taken. Updated directories will be given to all members who have a picture in the directory. You may sign up for your photo session through the parish website by going to the Lifetouch link or by calling Connie Horsch at 363-7859. Thank you for participating in this great community-building opportunity for our parish. And if you haven’t already done so, please notify the parish office as to which of your phone numbers you consider to be your primary number as one phone number per household will be published in this upcoming directory.

Partnership with the Diocese of Vijayapuram Please keep Bishop Sebastian Thekkethecheril and the people of the Diocese of Vijayapuram in your daily prayers.

Gospel Reflection The theme for this week can be described as called and sent. In the first reading, Amos is called by God and sent to prophesy to the people. In the 2nd reading, Paul reminds the Ephesians that they are chosen

to know the truth and spread it. And in the Gospel, the Apostles are sent out two-by-two to preach the good news to those who would accept it. What is the message for us in these readings? We are called to share the good news and to give an example of charity, so the people can say, “See how they love one another.” Who do you know that needs words of encouragement in their life? Who needs to be reminded that God loves them? You can reach out to these people in words and in actions.

“Come away and rest awhile!” Jesus invites the apostles to join him in going away from the crowds and find time to rest and relax and even have time to eat; however, the crowds follow them. And they touched Jesus’ heart, so he cured many of them. We, too, are invited to take time

for quiet and reflection on the word of God. How often are these times interrupted? It may be at these times that we need to reach out and help others. This week, remember to take some quiet time with Jesus.

Sr. Betty Larson, Pastoral Ministry

In Loving Memory Please remember in your prayers those who have died: Roman Buermann, husband of Lorraine Buermann; Kathleen Luethmers, mother of Mandy (& Paul) Krey; Marlene Gill, mother of Allan (& Darlene) Gill; and Mildred Egerman, mother of Lynn (& Brian) Orcutt. Please also remember their families in your prayers.

The Sultan and the Saint Movie The Muslim/Christian Dialogue Group headed by Fr. Virgil Petermeier and Ayan Omar will be showing the film “The Sultan and the Saint” 10:30 am – 12:30 pm on Saturday, July 21 at the Great River Library in St. Cloud. There will be an introduction by Mr. Rick Dietz, Director of the FSLF Franciscan Life Center and the film will be followed by a discussion and cookies. This free event is co-sponsored by CMCEO/Cultural Bridges.

Vacation Bible School Vacation Bible School will be held Sunday, July 29 through Thursday, August 2. This year’s theme is Splash Canyon.” Please register your children as soon as

possible. Registration forms can be found in the East Entrance of the church and on the parish website. Registration forms were also sent via email to your homes. Don’t miss out on this very fun and faith-filled week!

Saint Joseph Catholic School

At May’s All Saints Academy Board of Directors meeting, it was decided that the St. Joseph Campus would be renamed “Saint Joseph Catholic School.” The decision derives primarily from the fact that all the other Catholic Community Schools have their own distinct name and identity and therefore the Board determined that the two All Saints Academy campuses should also have their own distinct identities. The St. Cloud Campus will retain the name All Saints Academy since that school for many years was represented by the three parishes of St. Peter’s, St. Paul’s and St. Michael’s (SPPM) and given the multiple Saints associated with that school, it made sense to leave it as All Saints Academy. The St. Joseph campus will be renamed Saint Joseph Catholic School given its pairing with Saint Joseph Parish and its location in the town of St. Joseph. Even though many people mentioned their nostalgia for the “Lab School” name, the “Lab” name will be dropped since the school no longer is a laboratory school for the College of Saint Benedict. Saint Joseph Catholic School will remain with the All Saints Academy Corporation for the 2018–19 school year while Catholic Community Schools finalizes its corporate structure and operations. Beginning with the 2019–2020 school year, Saint Joseph Catholic School will become part of the Catholic Community Schools Corporation. The renaming of our school will build a brand identity that distinguishes us from the other schools. I look forward to the opportunities our new identity will provide.

Karl Terhaar, St. Joseph Catholic School Principal

Save the Date! The annual Parish Appreciation Picnic will be held immediately after the 5:30 pm Mass on Wednesday, August 15, which is the Feast of the Assumption and a Holyday of Obligation. All parishioners are invited to this annual celebration.
